Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

I'm hoping he feels like he's been in the league long enough to understand fully that this is business, and he just signed a record contract to be the leader of the New England Patriots, whoever that team might include, for several years.

The last time he signed a contract, they lost Givens and Branch (and the "different" circumstances are irrelevant, the bottom line is that they lost both of them). Now, a month after his next contract, they lose Moss. I can't imagine he's a happy camper.

If the deal does die, what kind of distraction is this going to turn into? Freakin circus.

Trade this locker room cancer and get V. Jackson.

You could just tell from Moss's face last night that something bad was going to happen, sulking little child.

I didn't see sulking. But if this deal has been in the works and goes through, it'd be easy to see that last shot of Moss looking at the field as a guy who knew this was his last time on the sideline as a New England Patriot, and had to swallow some pretty intense emotions about that.

If true and if for a #1 plus than you definitly do it. Let's get back to the old style Patriots and not worry about the fragile psyche of a diva WR. This team has been soft since 07, this isn't fantasy football. I won't lose any sleep over this if it happens, not one bit.

the only problem is that even a "#1" won't be productive until 2012. Brady is 33 now and will be 35 then. The future is now.

If true this is an absolute disaster, I don't care what anyone has to say. The offense needs to carry this team and you're trying to trade away one of your best players on that side of the ball. Unless the compensation is ridiculous or we go after Vincent Jackson we might look back at this trade and see it as the moment the 2010 season was over.

I can't stand that damn picture headline on top of the website. I'm hearing the Titanic music ahhhhhh make it stop. :(

latest from curran

Details keep dropping on rumored Moss deal

My take? I've spoken to Patriots sources. I've spoken to teammates of Moss. I've spoken to Vikings coach Brad Childress (a guy who's got a spotty record with the truth when it comes to football matters). If something was up, it is now down. Laid to rest, put to bed.

Will it rise again? With Randy Moss, it always does.

Way to go out on a limb, Tom.

Or, the entire fifth and sixth rounds...

Wait a minute, why need all these picks? We do well with undrafted players...

Seriously, if Vikings willing to give what the Patriots want, in terms of compensation, Patriots will take it.

This will probably be resolved, one way or another in the next 7 days...

I doubt it. The Patriots aren't the center of his universe; Randy Moss is.

I know some people are going to call me a homer or BB ball washer but I don't care.
We are building a team, we are so close to having these young guys be major competitors, the last thing we need is for a supposed team captain to kill everything that's been instilled and taught with a selfish tirade of me me me i didn't get balls thrown my way blah, blah blah.

We took a chance on Moss with the understanding he would play a team sport
and be a model team mate.
I got news for everybody after the most complete inspirational win we've had in over 2 years he's going to pull that selfish garbage then Moss can go to Minny end his career with Wrangler Jean boy.
The ultimate move now would be to trade for Vincent Jackson, trade away another distraction in Mankins, and get this team ready for the Baltimore Ravens and some pay back.

You don't eff with BB he's like the Godfather if he could trade Moss to Oakland believe me he would.

I was being sarcastic.

What game were you watching??? Moss was as involved as any player on offense last night.

The offense will take a major hit if he's gone. Tate is explosive, but is he a difference maker at WR? Who knows.

The fact that Moss is not on the field changes the way defenses play us, and not for the better.

Ok so after looking at Reiss's post, I scrolled down and caught this:

3 bright spots not to overlook - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Key point being:

3. Randy Moss' post-game response. The veteran receiver was targeted in the passing game just once and finished without a reception for the first time in his Patriots tenure. Moss had no issues with the lack of action. Before the game he was one of the players gathering all of his teammates and reminding them of the importance of sticking together on the road, which reflects how Moss sometimes takes on a leadership role. He has been on board with how things are unfolding.[/QUOTE]

I trust Reiss 1000 times more than "Sky is falling" Tanguay.

Addition by subtraction, IMO

I wish I could tell myself that, but I can't. I'm sorry. This is arguably the greatest WR ever to play the game (or one of the two or three best). That math is fanciful.

I was at the game. Vontae was side by side with Moss all night.
Awesome. According to what I've read, Moss had a safety over the top for most of the night too. I guess he did his job, as usual. Thanks

VJack is a very good young, WR, but, he has baggage as well. Off-field as well as disgruntle. Also, Chargers want an arm-&-leg as well.

If Moss is gone, I think the 2 TE's will be see way more playing time with Brady.
