Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

If he doesn't want to be here, then why keep him? We don't need him causing trouble because he is unhappy. If he is so concerned about himself that he would ask for a trade after week 1 then screw him.

Newsflash people, the Patriots did just fine before Randy Moss ever graced us with his presence. We will be fine after he's gone too.

I suspect some of you don't remember back that far.

I wonder if the game against the Jets was Brady's way of making Moss feel wanted.

I guess those posters on here who always complain about Brady trying to force the deep ball to Moss will be happy...or maybe they'll just complain about not being able to complain about that now? :bricks:

I guarantee you Brady already knew what was going on, and I also guarantee that BB never thinks he can't contend, let alone when he has the best QB in the biz and all of the talent he has on this team, with or without Moss.

If we are getting say a 2 and 3 and maybee a deal for Vincent Jackson , then im ok with this... but if it is a 3 and that would be it... Would not make sense.. Minny should send a number 1 since he they will kick our arse on Halloween night....

:yeahthat:
10ch

this is a good idea IF we trade for Vincent Jackson, who is younger. Going without a deep threat is a colossal mistake. It condemns us this season, and forces us to draft high to replace him...

I agree. It wouldn't be surprising if a deal is done with SD for Jackson.

I think Tate could very well make a very good deep threat.
I think so too, but he won't be taking 2 defenders with him. So unless he starts breaking out then he isn't really going to be able to replace Moss.

Slater is a deep threat too:eek:

I think Tate could very well make a very good deep threat.

Except he is, well, whats the word I'm looking for.

Unproven.

And then who would be the other flanker? Tate was designed to replace Moss, but first Price needs to be ready to take the other flanker position or we'll be right back where we were last year with no third receiver. Unless you want Hernandez to shoulder a load much bigger than he should have to.

no one is saying we cant win without Moss. Its just that there is NO WAY we get the same production out of a 3rd round pick as what we get from the greatest physical specimen at WR of all time.

If this is for a 3rd and not a 2nd, seeing as the Patriots should be in the drivers seat here, I will be very disappointed.

I hear that Joey Galloway guy can still get deep

still all i am thinking about...all teams gotta do is double welker now and we have no deep threat what so ever....so sad this is going to happen...going to be very very hard to win the division, let alone with no moss

Have to give Breer credit for some good tweets; read from bottom:

.. for losing him in free agency. Difference is that pick would come in 2011 rather than 2012.

Another aspect -- If deal does get done and wind up being for a 3rd-round, that's probably the compensatory pick Pats would get anyhow ...

Also, remember, Favre/Moss mutual admiration likely plays in here. Presence of Moss could have a rejuvenating effect on Favre .

...That chance seems to exist. Contract might not be easy. But it's also hardly impossible. Vikes in total "win now" mode.

...Bye week gets the Patriots offense chance to get acclimated to life w/o Randy. Things could fall apart. But if Moss is motivated to go...

On Moss, no one is shooting this down, when given the chance to. Something's happening. Timing of Moss-to-Vikes makes sense too ...

I would rather have Toby Gerart than a 3rd round pick.

Supposedly it is contingent on him being signed to a new contract by the Vikes. They don't have allot of money to play with since they just shelled out for Lord Farvequat. So I dunno. Seem's like if I owned a team and were shelling out the dough, VJ would've been the move. Yet, it did'nt get done. Stay tuned. While we are formulating our trade wishlist. I'll take Edwards on D, and a 5th rounder.

If Moss does leave, Hernandez and Welker are two guys we can count on. Tate would need to pull through tho.

This is funny how people are getting bent out of shape about this. I see threads saying Moss is bad for the Pats and he's Brady's binky.

I for one would be fine with trading him and getting something before he walks if the deal is good enough, specifically a #1. Anything less than that and I keep him. No Maroney type trades either.

The question who would replace Moss. We seem to have alot of slot and tightend receivers. I see us becoming more of a physical type team with the tightends and BJGE running the ball and I like the physicality.

Some folks here need to put down the Kool Aid. Our offense hasnt hit a stride yet this year and it will obviously take huge steps backwards if Moss is gone. Moss is liek a shut down corner.
There are games when he doesnt light it up because he is the focus of the defense, often being double teamed. But when a defense gambles a little, Moss makes them pay.

And to those saying we havent won a Super Bowl with Moss, we can do it without him etc.... We dont have anywhere near the defense we had with those teams. We are a couple of years away from our defense being able to carry the team if were lucky.

With no prominant running game and no Moss, we will struggle to score and obviously will struggle to keep opposing defenses from scoring!

This move would have to indicate that teh Pats are throwing in the towel on thsi season!

some infuriatingly dumb posts here, including those tweets from Bert Breer, who imo is an idiot

1) why should we want him if he doesn't want to be here? b/c I don't care, and it doesn't matter what he wants, as long as he is productive on the field (and he is)

2) if we could get a 3rd round comp pick AND have Moss play out the rest of the season, then how in the world is getting a 3rd round pick and losing moss a good thing or even a close to ok thing?

3) yes, the Pats won without Moss plenty. we also had a top 5 defense those season instead of our current below average defense. we have the #1 offense in the league now - we lose Moss and we take a huge hit

4) this only makes sense if we have deal in place for vjax

I too miss the 03' Pats!
