Re: Tom Brady fastest player in get 100 W

Hear hear! Thanks for leading a team more than worth rooting for.
Greatest QB of all time.

Not one of his best performances to get that 100th win, but a W is a W nonetheless.

Congrats Tom!

and nobody in the broadcast mentioned that he missed an entire season due to injury.

He would've got to 100 wins a lot faster had he not suffered that knee injury.

Didn't see this thread when I started mine. Congrats again Tom.

FWIW, the record is officially "100 (regular-season) wins in 131 starts," so it does take the lost season into account.

true, but time-wise, he wouldve easily had 100 wins last year, or maybe even the year before

Re: Tom Brady fastest player in get 100 W

I've seen some doubt about Brady seeping in over the past year-plus, and to be fair a lot of it might be warranted, and I've had my part in some of it. But screw it, even if we've already seen the best of him (after 2007, how could we not have seen the best of him?), there's still an extremely compelling case for him as GOAT.

Not only did the national mediots ignore the story last night, but I couldn't find a peep about its importance in the online edition of the Globe this morning (maybe it's in the Globe's print edition or maybe it's in the Horrald, but I refuse to buy or click on the latter since Tomass).

Why did I have to go to the spygate-baiting New York Daily News to find this graphic (page 62 of today's print edition)?:

"100 Wins--Fastest QB Starts. The fastest quarterbacks to 100 wins in the Super Bowl era (since 1966):
131: Tom Brady, N.E.
139: Joe Montana, S.F.
147: T. Bradshaw, Pitt.
153: Brett Favre, G.B.
154: P. Manning, Ind."

That's a remarkable accomplishment. Eight games faster than Joe, 16 faster than Bradshaw, 22 faster than Lord Favregaaard and 23 faster than Peyton. How about a little love from the national and local media!

Here's to ya, Tommy!

Not only that, but they also showed the "Most wins by HC/QB combo" and if I remember, Brady/BB was only 16 or so behind Marino/Shula. That should happen next season around mid-season sometime (hopefully).

Brady's starting to have quite the gaudy career stats, especially in terms of wins and win %.

That blows my mind, considering Peyton had three full seasons in the league before Brady had his first start, plus Brady missed all but one game of 2008 (not sure how that first game counts.) Plus the Dolts had all those 12+ win seasons the last few years.

Also heard this morning that only two QB/coach combos have won more than 100 together: Dan Marino/Don Shula (116 IIRC) and Terry Bradshaw/Chuck Noll (don't recall the number except that it was less than 110.) Needless to say I'm hoping Brady/Belichick surpasses both those records before it's done. ;)

Irrelevant.

Fastest in # of games NOT necessarily in elapsed time

It's fastest player to 100 wins in games he actually played in. That way, the missed season in 09 or the fact that Manning entered the league three years before don't have any relevance.

I know, what I'm saying is that Manning had a three year head start, four if you count the "lost" season, but Brady still got there faster, dig?

But Manning could've had a 35 year head start, that doesn't matter. Manning actually got to a hundred wins before Brady did, but he did in a higher number of games. That's the record. Least amount of games played in while achieving 100 wins.

I checked to see how long TB might retain this record and had imagined that he might have some challenge from current quarterbacks especially Rivers and Roethlisberger. Seems Rivers is closer but needs to up his percentage a few points, but Big B is unlikely to do it.

Current Wins/Losses - percentage wins needed to take the record

Ben R - 60/26 - needs to win more than 89% (or 40 games) of his next 45 games
Phil R - 48/20 - needs to win more than 82% (or 52 games) of his next 63 games

that is quite a high bar to clear - well done TB.

I KNOW. DO YOU PEOPLE SPEAK ENGLISH???!!!!

Christ, forget I said anything.

Congrats, Tommy. I tried to scurry down to the Pats tunnel after the game to congratulate Brady, but wasn't able to get there in time. :(
