I LOVE you Ausbacker...I went to Australia in 93 for the first time in my life...a two week vacation...I meet this kid on the plane in L.A. and he invites me to his parents house in Sydney just because I was an American he liked.I get there and his fahter is one of the most powerful lawyers in Sydney and his mother ran King's Cross...I know YOU know what I'm talking about. Anyway, they invite me to stay in their ridiculous house and property outside Sydney as long as I want..for the bubble. I mean we're talking the luckiest American in history, right? So, anyway, being me I want to go out and see what Sydney and the whole Aussie experience is about so I take the train into the city,go to that Chinese section of the city and into this sports bar these people I just met told me to go. I walk in, there's ten TV's and rugby on every goddamned channel...rugby league, rugby union..no Aussie Rules bull**** AND cricket. The place is packed, I'm immediately spotted as "an American" and I get these typical, athletic, hard nosed Aussie types trying to make sure I don't order Fosters and try a 4x...I KNOW you understand...so I'm not a moron, I know what's up so I tell the bartender, great guy by the way, "give me a double Johnny Walker Black on the rocks.." OK, THAT gains me a small measure of whatever, respect, acceptance, I mean Aussies are the best. The thing is, everybody's seriously into this union match and I talk the bartender into finding the NFL on the satellite...after all, what does some Yank know about rugby , right?

Yeah, I spent more than a few hours at that bar..and yeah, I got hammered..on 4x..but when I left, I left a whole bunch of new Patriot fans that I sort of co-opted into being New England fans because, after all,America's Cup, Newport, I'm from R.I....you can see..Aussies love US...west coast Americans...not so much. And when I left I told all of them, "you root for an NFL team..Patriots!!!...never Dallas...never Miami".

I went there for a two week vacation...I stayed 4 1/2 months...I had credit cards and 10 G's in cash...came back to the states with 8600 left. The vacation dream of a lifetime. Jeezus, how do you tell your girl you were in a city called Surfer's Paradise at Jupiter Casino for the bubble?I've never seen anything like true rugby league or rugby union but I'll never forget the look on these guys faces when they saw a MLB plant a RB with such speed and such fury that they immediately got HOOKED.

THAT is why I appreciate your membership here. Not only do you know the game as good or better than a lot of us, you've never shot your mouth off about the 1000's of Australian rugby players that could kick HERE,like 20 to 30 yards farther than most of the stiffs in this league that get paid millions.
BUT, the most important thing you can do in your life as a Pats fan is to spread through family and friends from Perth to Brisbane, the JETS suck.

another reason JO was accepted by the Aussies...

He never said " Put another shrimp on the barbie"

I certainly hope he is. As of right now, I think we're looking at a starting OLB rotation of TBC and Murrell/Ninkovich.

Thanks for the recollection of your trip Joker. It sounds like a normal weekend here. I'm from Western Australia but lived on the East Coast for a few years following my sporting commitments.

When you mentioned Kings Cross I was a bit concerned you'd been shown the flamboyant side of Australia (you know the one where groups of men dressed in leather with whips and chains congregate to talk all matters Martha Stewart whilst dancing around to renditions of Queen). I'm glad you had a friendly experience in the Sports Bars. If you've a slither of knowledge, are willing to talk some means of trash and get plastered in the process most people are instant winners here!

It's dangerous to start talking about athlete cross overs when it comes to sport. Punters from Australia will become plentiful as the ex AFL (Australian Rules - our indigenous game) retire and take up kicking duties in the search of some extra $$$$. I've general respect for most sports [apart from swimmers... but hey I am a track and field boy;)]

As for the Patriots. There's no real way to describe it. Was enamored with football after seeing a game as a 6 or 8 year old boy. I can't remember the specific age. Did a little investigating as I got older and Boston Sports just seemed right for me. I'd go as far as to say the Patriots are my number 1 team in world sports. I love them. It's gotten to the point that the Patriots have compelled me to watch/tape college football in spare moments to familiarize myself with potential draftees.

As for my football knowledge. It's developing and has moved on in leaps and bounds thanks to many posters here. Not only is PatsFans a valuable learning tool for mine own development, but it's a community that's I've come to cherish. It's gotten to the point that it's a must read every morning before practice or work. That's a credit to the people here.

Now that the homofest is over.... Joker some things transgress nations and believe me "I hate the Jets". That's the power of the Patriots.

As for Cunningham. The Patriots desperately need consistent pass rush and/or collapsed pockets in the opposing QB's face. Cunningham will be of critical importance in executing that.

I certainly hope he is ready to go! We need to be able to throw more bodies out there. I'm very disappointed that he got no preseason action, but whatever at this point. We need him to be reado to go.

Can anyone here give an honest opinion based on seeing something at the combine, OTAs or start of training camp, that this guy has the skills to play at this level? I assume BB studied him enough that he was sure on his capabilities. I have faith that he can be our OLB of the future. But I'm really curious if he can offer us anything week 1?

I doubt anyone, even people who went to TCs, has a great read on how good/bad Cunningham will be. We'll probably just have to wait and see how he plays in real games.

I dont understand your question.
You appear to say you are rejecting BBs assessment but hope you can find a message board poster to tell you they have done an independent analysis and vouch for him??????
