Robert Kraft when he was rumoured to be interested in buying Liverpool football club said he didn't want to be involved in a sport where there was no cap.
Owners will not want it i would imagine.

I lost interest in baseball because of the ridiculous way they run that league.

Go ahead, NFL, get rid of the cap--lose fans.

Why would you want to kill the salary cap?? The Salary Cap is what has brought football to the prominence that it is..

the pats and most teams will still run there teams like there is a CAP they will not over pay for anyone or go nuts in FA


yes there will still be a few over paid guys like peppers, but it won't be the pats that over pay or make any kind of a splash in the FA market so it's not to the pats advantage so im not sure why any pats fan would not want no CAP

The Cap is certainly NOT what brought FootBall to prominence. Is that a JOKE??

It's been on an accelerated upward trajectory for about 50 years, ever since "The GGEP."

And The Cap has been around since...what?...1994??

Give me an exemption for players we've drafted, ourselves...and I'm ALL ABOARD.

The NFL has been gaining popularity as you say for 50 years, yes. But don't kid yourself as to why the sport is head and shoulders above Baseball and Basketball. It is the competitive balance created by the salary cap. And if it disgusts you to see good teams disassembled then blame the management team that went for broke and sold out for a short term run. Luckily we have a management team that understands that is not how you manage a team.

I have no doubt that Kraft would spend big if there were no cap as would Snyder, Jones, Johnson and few others. But how would that be good for football? Do you think people in Kansas City get excited when baseball season starts? Hell about 20 fan bases in MLB know they have no chance to compete for the playoffs, let alone the world series every single year. How is that a good thing?

The NFL is the only sport where every team has a legitimate shot at making the playoffs and every year a team that everyone think will suck ends up turning it around and making the playoffs. You can't say that about Baseball or Basketball.

So no I wouldn't say that is a joke. The salary cap is the reason why the NFL sells out just about every game every year and can charge billions for tv contracts.

The cap is what keeps Dallas, Washington, Seattle and a couple of others from crushing the Patriots every year. Hint: Kraft is by no meand the wealthiest owner.

The NFL would be greatly hurt with no cap. It would destroy the sport. There is absolutely NO WAY they get rid of the cap. I can see them getting rid of or modifying the franchise tag, but not getting rid of the Cap.

Say goodbye to Moss, Brady extention, Gronks after rookie contracts as they all head to Snyderville or somesuch as contracts expire.

Alot of my friends who are non - Pats fans seem to think we'd be one of the teams that benefit from no cap, since we are one of the big earners. But I definitely don't see it. I don't think we'd spend $9M to keep the Asante Samuels or offer any more to Mankins without a cap. I don't see us outbidding people for the Boldins and Peppers either.

You really are off the grid. Hell the NFL hadn't even eclipsed College Football in the sixties. So how exactly did it eclipse MLB?

Ridiculous contracts weren't handed out in professional sports till around the 1990's, so there was no need for a salary cap then. Now that there are owners like Daniel Snyder or Jerry Jones who will overpay whatever it takes to get what they want a non-salary cap league would kill New England, and all but 5 teams for that matter.
