I just caught the NECN segment on players reaction. Vrabel said, more or less, how devastated the team is to see Branch go but that Branch got the contract he deserved. Seymour was very upset and down about the trade. The reporter quoted him comparing the Branch trade to the feeling when Lawyer Milloy was cut, but that it was "83 times worse." He said Branch did everything anyone could ask as a Patriot. The reporter said that Belichick broke the news to the team this morning and there were a lot of upset players.

I guess this reaction is to be expected by the players - they don't want to lose their talent any more than we do. Still, don't they realize that Branch made a decision not to stand by them and the team by holding out while under contract??

I hope they don't lose their focus on the game this weekend.

Seymour doesn't have a leg to stand on. He's a captain and he started this with his holdout last year. Suck it up buddy, your ex-teamate didn't show up.

Except that little detail of not showing up for work.

Seymour...please...you got your contract and it was you who set the precedent for others to hold out, and that just happened to be Branch.

Yeah, I guess Seymour can't judge holding out as reflecting poorly on a player after he did it successfuly

They hate their coach.

I will be curious to hear what Brady, Bruschi and Harrison say. Those are the voices that carry some weight with me and probably with most of the players too.

I don't understand why they are so upset. Here's a guy who demonstrated NO concern for his fellow players. It's not like he was the ONLY guy in the NFL or on the Patriots who has outplayed his contract yet those other guys like Samuel and Wilson showed up to work per their contract obligations. Deion essentially put the hard work of the other Patriots at risk for his GREED and his EGO. I wouldn't have cared. Would you be upset if your coworker who made YOUR job more difficult by not fulfilling contractual obligations was released? I sure as hell wouldn't. Football players are really strange creatures if they are really upset. I must say, I expected better from the Patriots' players. Guess the roster really needs to be turned over.

What's interesting is the Vrabel thinks Branch got the contract he deserves - I wonder if other players agree that the front office made a low offer and thus blame the front office for losing him...don't they realize that being fiscally responsible is the key to the team's ongoing health? Aren't they collectively better off on a team that speads the money around more equally than a team with a few super high paid stars??

Take it easy. Now you want to give Seymour sh%t? He's just stating the fact that he'd rather have Deions talent still wih the team. I would too.

Hopefully this doesn't have long term effects.

Players stick together. I am not surprised at all they're upset that he has left the organization, he was a great player for us and him leaving just make a weak spot even weaker.

A contrast between Seymour and Vrabel is the Milloy comparison. Seymour said it was 83 times worse wher Vrabel said that because Lawyer was in training camp the whole time and Deion wasn't, that the Milloy situation was worse.

Seymour sounded really down on the Big Show this afternoon where they carried his press conference live. It was an obvious shock to him.

Eh, I dunno. I expect the players to stand by each other. I can't imagine Vrabel saying he got a contract he didn't deserve....there's no need for that.

That's the thing that's funny to me though. Sey and Branch are supposed to be good friends and he sounded surprised it came to this. Wasn't this what Deion has been angling toward for weeks? How did it shock him unless they didn't talk about what was going on?

I can't see why any player would be shocked by this trade. Sad, yes, but the writing was on the wall for months - they haven't practiced with Branch since last season. The comparison to Milloy getting cut last minute is insane.

This is the type of news I hate...

Now I expect we get our tails kicked next week because the players are too upset and angry. I'm waiting...waiting for a player to critisize Belichick and Peoli.

They're all replaceable cogs anyways. They dare not stand up to Piolichick
