The higher they climb, the farther they have to fall. Most jests fans I've read/heard think they're looking at 12-4 and in may cases better than that.

...it's going to be a hard landing.

Faneca is gone this will impact the running game they are starting a rookie....;)

Trying to take off my Jet-hating goggles for a moment as I do think Sanchez will improve for a few reasons. 1) He has some decent receiving weapons to work with. 2) He showed some good poise in some pretty intense road playoff games. 3) There were many games where he was so incredibly bad, he has nowhere to go but up!

On the flip side, losing Thomas Jones and some talent on the o-line could impact his ability to make plays (additional pressure and d's playing more of a pass-d first set.

Not saying hes the next Marino but a 3200 yd, 20+ TD, 60% comp% 10-12 INT year is not out of the question.

But will he recover from being dumped by Meadow Soprano? ;-).

I'm sure he can improve, but the only new weapon he has this year is Holmes who won't even be there for the first 4 weeks. Your stats are a pretty big turnaround, from a -8 TD/Int ratio to a +8. With a step back in the running game and a rookie LG, you're asking a 2nd year player to make a pretty big jump to put up numbers like that.

I don't really care what any of those ESPN "experts" have to say about us. I think we all know the kind of talent and potential we have on this squad and what we're capable of doing. We will let the games do the talking for us this season.

Greenberg is a Jets homer. I'm pretty sure the Jets have only won 12 games once in their entire franchise's history. Now Greenberg is ready to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of ESPN.

Jets were 9-7 last year and somehow made it in the playoffs. Meanwhile we've missed the playoffs at 9-7 twice in the last 10 years. Some luck.

Jets fans must be worked up about how great Sanchez's stats will be this year — or at least one of the guys who cover the team thinks so. Manish Mehta of the Daily News tweeted his stats from 11 on 11 work today.

Unofficial numbers for Sanchez in 11on11s today: 8 of 17, two INTs (both by @A_Cromartie31 )

Twitter / Manish Mehta : Unofficial numbers for San ...

Greenie's opinion I could care less about; Golic's I put a little more faith in, but not a lot more.

But as was said above, everyone has a preseason analysis. The last few years so many pundits have said the Bills would be back in the playoffs, how's that worked out?

BTW, did anybody hear those ridiculous stories Golic was telling about Eagles' training camp practices under Buddy Ryan? Hiring Ditka instead of him as HC may be the smartest move the Bears ever made.

the jets are weaker at RB,OL,DL.

they have improved at WR,DB(although revis holding out hurts alot)

their offseason moves have really done nothing to fix their weaknesses the biggest one being the entire passing game away from revis (teams can throw at will to their TE's as well as their secondary targets.

I also believe if they go blitz-happy again, that their LB group will wear down and suffer some injuries that will cause the entire defense to fall apart by the time the leaves are cold.

Golid said 9-7.

That's not an insult. I can look at the lineup and come up with 7 games with a high potential for loss easilly.

My prediction is 10-6, not far off from his 9-7. It's going to ge a hardfought year. Making the playoffs is NOT a given.

But if they do make the playoffs, are healthy, and apply the lessons from both the wins and the losses, this team can and will do some serious damage on a post-season run.

That's how I see it going down. Anything's possible.

The Jets passing game could get better, a lot better, but that all depends on how good the running game is. The way I look at it, the running game took a hit. So, we shall see how Sanchez plays without the comfort of a formidable run game. I could be wrong - the run game could be just as strong as last year - I just think it won't be.

What Jets fans fail to see, in my opinion, is how essential Revis is to the defense. Revis is a shut down corner. You can blitz like crazy with that kind of trust. Without it - burn city. My guess is that every QB that the Jets play this season are hoping Revis holds out for the long-haul and that no deal is made. As a Pats fan I hope he sits on his ass all year.

I laugh at the folks that say Cromartie and Wilson will be just as good. Child please! Wilson is a rookie, folks.

Having watched all Steelers games, I would say that Big Ben made Holmes. Many of Holmes' catches were "come backs" after Big Ben scrambled for time.

Can Sanchez do that? Will he need to do that?

Besides, if Brady returns to form like we expect, that improvement alone will be far more than the combined Jets/fins improvements so highly touted.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Jets have never heard of depth. It's like they want to be the perfect team on paper, but don't care about how they play.

Correction: In the past ten years, beginning in 2001, the Patriots have missed the playoffs twice. Once at 9-7 and once at 11-5. That luck thing is even worse than you wrote!

I think the mikes assesments are fair. Get that greeny is a jets homer..but I think between 8 and 8 and 10 and 6 is reasonable prediction for the pats this season. We're ok offensively but IMHO we're going to go through major growing pains with backers and secondary.

That's right. Unbelievable.

People see the additions without any of the subtractions.

They added LT, but didn't lose Thomas and Washington.

They added Cromartie, but didn't lose Shepherd. Also, the Cormartie they got is the one from 2007, not 08/09.

They added Holmes, but forget he's suspended for the first 4 games.

Sanchez is GOING to get better, because every QB gets better their second year, especially those with god awful rookie seasons...

This is the logic we fight, ladies and gentlemen... bask in its glory.

I've been trying to say this for a long time but couldn't put it into words as well as you. Well done, sir! :D

I'd feel better if BB had solid coordinators on both sides of the ball.

I just don't get the coaching staff deal.

Last year, that team had every right to be 13-3. The Miami, Indy and Houston games were completely blown in the second halves with awful clock management and strategy screw-ups. That was horrendous and wasteful of what could have been a pretty good team. A bye would have helped an awful lot last year.

The clock management by O'Brien was shockingly bad. And everyone here keeps writing about the D being #5 in points allowed - - my question is what was it's rank in 4th quarters??? The D, time and time again, in games on the road crumbled in the 4th quarter last year.

To me, the most pressing problem was not so much player personnel (although that was a problem, just not the highest problem). It was, and is, coordinators. Evidently, BB has signaled that he will be a quasi DC this year. I hope he can handle the load.

The Patriots will be a slightly above average team at best in 2010.

9-7 at the very highest.

I bet if the Jets ever did that, you and Madison Avenue would be calling them the "Greatest Team Ever" the following year.

Oh wait, that DID happen!
