The Unforgiven

If I have time later today I will add to my list. there are plently to choose from. In some cases it bonehead plays by the refs, which some might excuse as innocent mistakes (I don't), then the players and coaches that have left, and finally opposing players hurting our players . . .

I think for me at the top is Parcells. What he did before SB against GB has NO excuse. making calls and getting ready for the Jets off season before our SB while he was still our coach is beyond anything that I can accept. He knew what he was doing, did it, and continued to do it, and it was not like he was in the middle of a heated game where one might excuse it as over zealous play or officiating. I even remember he had this "i don't want to be here look" coming out of the tunnel for the intorductions for the SB. Sorry I can't really forgive him for that, and he was dead to me after that betrayal.

After the manner in which the last 5 seasons have ended, I believe now more than ever that there is no God; and if there is, then I'd rather worship Satan (Miroslav or otherwise).

Tatum. I was young when that hit happened, but he is the first "villain" I remember, and as it turns out, still the biggest. Horrible excuse for a human being.

Mark Schlereth. Where does this jerk get off calling out the Pats, when the Bronco's circumvented the salary cap to load the roster for 2 Super Bowl runs. He slammed us for hours on end, with a "holier than thou" smug-ness to him. For me he's the face of the media's systematic character assassination of our team.

I've gotten into arguments about it, but I've never forgiven Curtis Martin. I know, I know, it's a business, but he was the one who was all "I love New England and I love playing in New England" and then the first offer he gets he leaves. If he had gone somewhere else it would've been different, but he knew that Tuna wanted him in NYJ just to twist the knife a little more. If I ever get to meet him I'll say, "So how'd it feel watching the Pats win 3 Super Bowls while you never even got back to one?"

And yes, put Tuna on my list too, what an absolute douche. "I wanna buy the groceries!" and then he goes to work for Jerry Jones. :bricks:

And Mangina, of course.

And don't forget Chuck Fairbanks. At least that guy who left the Falcons a few years ago was honest enough to say he was jumping the ship for a college job; Fairbanks was working for Colorado while still on the Pats' payroll.

Other than the Hocculi goof in Denver 2 years ago, the "face guarding penalty" was definitely one of the worst calls in NFL history. I couldn't believe Phil Simms actually defended that call and I think he was the one that pulled the "face guarding" explanation out of his a**.

I still remember EXACTLY where I was ~ in my Bro's Basement Cavern, actually ~ when that filthy TV PUKE smugly ~ and stupidly ~ explained WHY IT WAS THE CORRECT CALL!!!

I mean: that call was such an ATROCITY...that the Peyton Pimping Patsy Ref who called it ~ and who was not refuted by ANY of his fellow Marxist, Success-Hating, Petyon-Loving crew ~ was forced to issue Hobbs a Formal Letter of Apology!!

Serious question: Has anybody ever HEARD of such a precedent??

Ellis Hobbs would be a more sympathetic figure in my mind, if not for this one play. Plax is at the 11-yard line, and Hobbs is playing SEVEN yards off, meaning he's on the 4-yard line. By the time Plax gets to the end zone, Hobbs is TWO YARDS BEHIND HIM. Think about that. In my mind, Hobbs makes it on the list.

Hobbs had a groin injury that required surgery post-season
Hobbs was left completely alone while the Patriots sent an all-out blitz
Hobbs was the teams best DB during that game

Instead of blaming Hobbs, blame Belichick and the coaching staff for:

a.) calling that play
b.) not being more forceful in defense of Hobbs after the game

and blame the defense for not getting to Eli.

Absolutely! For further verification, just listen to Eli Manning's description of that play, as to (a) how surprised he was that the Pats were in Cover Zero, leaving Hobbs alone on Plaxico after he was in double coverage all day, and (b) how quickly he decided to exploit that, only hoping that Brandon Jacobs could pick up the blitz for the seconds he would need to execute the pass. He threw it perfectly, to his %$@#^&% credit.
