Re: S.I article on Brady

Some team would pick Price up before he clears waiver. And I don't think the Pats would use a high draft pick on a player they have no intention on keeping at the very least to be a developmental player.

I don't see Patten making this team.

If he still has his legs, I see Patten making the shadow roster.

brady is saying all the right things.......after all, it is a contract year

Re: S.I article on Brady

Absolutely. He's now past the halfway mark in his Patriot career. Tom Brady is a treasure we should cherish while we have him.

Agreed, though I'd probably make that "well past"...he's had ten years (playing eight)...another four or five at the highest level is probably what we can hope for, unless his body holds up like Favre's, but he's taken a lot of hits...

Does anyone know where I can get Tom Brady's Autograph? I need him to sign a McFarlane 12" figure of himself for my Nephew who is 4 and this kid lives, loves and breathes Tom Brady! Does Brady do signings like the old Qb's use to I remember Grogan would go to like a mall or some place and sit there for a few hours signing autographs for the kids . Dont these guys do this stuff any more . If so can someone tell me where? I know about "Fan Day" during the August training camp, is there any other day? /B]

This could be Brady's last year as a Patriot. Enjoy it.With no new contract for Brady who knows if he will be a Patriot after this year.

Yup. I can see that being the response across the league. We'll probably see two themes from opposing fans:
-- How can you uphold Brady as some kind of paragon of virtue (spygate, child out of wedlock)
-- Lots of silliness round the use of the word "bi-coastal."

...and don't forget the Brady is Gay threads and the "Likes Lambs" threads...they'll be there too...God, these people are so predictable!

Are you serious? Unless the new CBA does away with the franchise tag or there is never another game football for the next ten years or Brady gets hurt and Hoyer averages 300 yards and 3 TDs a game in his absence (and it would have to be for like 5-6 games at least), I say there is about a 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance this is Brady's last year with the Patriots. And I think I overestimated my prediction a bit to make you not feel so silly for making such a comment.

Totally agree. But that won't stop some opposing fans from begrudging him and seeking out the cheap hit. If Brady played for another team some fans here just might do the same.

Yup, very true.

I was sticking up for Brady. Maybe the franchise tag will be gone or different. Who knows. Enjoy him. I do not think because he is not in the offseason work outs everyday his days as a top qb are over.

Yeah, we'll have a 2011 season with Brady on the 49'ers and Manning on the Cardinals. Man, what a sick division that'll be.

The way some on this board talk they would be happy about the Brady part.

I agree Brady is underappreciated by some on this board, but the idea that Brady is playing his last season with the Patriots is going a little overboard. Kraft will pay whatever it takes to keep him here since he is the face of the franchise. Brady wants to stay with the Pats because it is his team and it is best for his legacy. I see next to no chance that Brady leaves after this season.

I personally don't think Brady needs to be here all offseason like he used to either. He is not a young QB working on his mechanics and film study. Much of what he needed during the offseason in say 2003 or 2004 are not needed today. It would be great if he was here, but the realities of life just makes it impossible for him. Personally, I might be a little worried if he blew off his oldest son for the job.

Re: S.I article on Brady

Where's the "Brady Isn't Committed Anymore" thread?

...Great piece. What a class act! The contrast with Roethlisberger and Jamarcus just makes me appreciate him all the more.

After reading this, can you honestly say he sounds as committed to the Pats and his preparation to his game as he used to be? I have no doubt he is working on getting ready for the season, but I also have no doubt he is not dedicating as much time to it as he used to (he basically said as much). I completely understand how his priorities have somewhat shifted, but to assume he is going to be the same player he always has been, while focusing more on his family and less on his game, is being naive. I have posted several times about Brady seeming to be less involved and not seeming to have the fiery intensity he was known for, and this article only reinforced that opinion. While I understand Brady's children and family life have become number 1 in his life, they are not going to help the Pats win any games, and I care much more about that than Brady's fatherhood skills. I don't think the increasing amount of time Brady spends away from the team and the decreasing amount of locker room chemistry and leadership are mere coincidences. In this article he states "I'm not going to have the same relationship with the guys as if I was there every day", and we all wonder why he didn't seem to be on the same page with his WRs last season. We now have even more new players at TE and WR, and he's sitting in California. He also comments on how the Pats need to get more toughness and commitment while stating he can't show the same commitment he used to because of his family. His words would definitely hold more weight if he was at the practice facility instead of in California, sitting in a rocking chair feeding his kid a bottle.

I don't know if you know this, but even if he attended every offseason workout so far he wouldn't have a chance to get in rhythm with his new targets. They are offseason WORKOUTS, afterall.

He is keeping in shape on his own and even working out with Welker. If Brady succeeds or fails at this point of his carreer with the Patriots it won't be because he skipped a week of optional offseason WORKOUTS or not.

Seriously, does Brady need to be here like he was in 2002 working on improving his armstrength and learning how to throw better? I don't see this as a lack of dedication at all. I see it as a priority shift to his family, but not a lack of dedication to football. When he is here, he works as hard or harder than anyone else.

Brady isn't the only player who spends much of his offseason away from the team. Richard Seymour when he was here spent every offseason in NC. Peyton Manning lives in Metairie, Lousiana in the offseason. We know that Favre forever heads to Kilne, MS during the offseason. Drew Brees trains in San Deigo his offseasons.

As for what Brady does while he is away from the team, just like every player who is a father, he has parenting duties. But to think he isn't busting his butt at least 3-4 days a week at the UCLA facilities training for the season is ridiculous. Brady is still training hard for the season, he just does it close to his family. Many players do. He isn't jetsetting with Gisselle every week or babysitting his son all day.

People confuse Brady deciding to train close to his family to him basically forgetting about football all together from the last game he plays til minicamp. I am sure Brady has done more physical activity by 9AM most week days this offseason than most of us do in a week.

It's also amusing how people are focusing on the "omg brady lost his drive!!1!!one!" side of things while noone has commented on what he's done for Best Buddies. Brady taking his time to be with these kids is something that should be celebrated in a time where it seems 70% of the NFL is involved with drugs/crime.

This could be Brady's last year as a Patriot. Enjoy it.With no new contract for Brady who knows if he will be a Patriot after this year.

As long as he doesn't bash the Patriots in the media during the year he will get a new contract. His performance this year will predicate the dollars give or take, but if he does everything right this season he'll still get the big contract.
