Breer: Hernandez failed drug tests

Why do they even bother with this anymore?

Cannabis isn't an issue with athletes. Look at all the world records Michael Phelps set, and the two more since the Olympics. He had his picture taken hitting a ROOR bong, which isn't for lightweights or "first timers".

As long as it doesn't affect his preparation who cares?

I don't disagree with your point, but unfortunately it's still against the law. If a player is caught "breaking the law" in the NFL the commish will take action. If he must use, then Hernandez needs to learn where and when.

Is there an ETA on speculation over whether or not Goodell is going to slip THC into his urine tests just to spite the Pats?

This information is old. Breer is just pulling out anything he can...pathetic.

It is a story because he fell to the fourth round because of it.

I can't blame Breer for reporting it. There had to be a reason why he fell to the 4th and Breer illuminated it for us. If the kid can stay off the stuff and not get suspended he may be a real find for the Pats.

Thankfully the CBA limits what Goodell can do in drug cases.

We need to legalize weed already. I say "we" because the Gov't SHOULD be FOR the people, OF the people, BY the people... unfortunately it's no longer that way. Time to reel in our Gov't and take back our Freedoms.

What kind of example is he setting for the kids!?!?

he did?...and you have hard copy proof of this?

and "stay off the stuff???"...where do you live, Sunnybrook Farm, Rebecca???...uh...see all those NFL players on every single team with those LONG DREADLOCKS? Hundreds and hundreds of players...see them? Dreadlocks...you know...signifying Rastafarian culture, the central theme being smoking marijuana? You actually think THEY are marijuana free but this rookie has a drug problem????? Hello blind...meet naive.

I don't use hemp. Know plenty of people who do. Could care less about it. The ONLY actually deleterious thing about it is its' illegal still, although that is changing slowly across the U.S.

This scurrilous journalism attempting to besmirch a defenseless kid and brand him as "bad" using the "evil weed" and "that stuff" right wing wacko tactic is sickening. As long as the kid isn't injecting steroids, popping amphetamines and smoking crack, I coulkd care less if he gets loose with a six pack OR a joint.

I get it now, Son of Samhain

Ask Ricky Williams all about that power...he knows as well as anyone the penalties for failing drug tests for marijuana.

he openly admitted using it though, during the season...that's not good P.R. and the NFL had to crack the whip

I don't even care about that, as long as he doesn't end up getting suspended down the road over continued use.

Yep. At least he was bright enough to pass the combine test. Now that big bucks are on the line hopefully he be smart enough to handle himself like a pro.

The Gov't has not been for a while nor is it likely to ever be again FOR the people, OF the people nor BY the people. It's FOR the $$, OF the $$ and BY the $$. Which is a major factor in why Hemp was outlawed in the first place, and I'm sure the vast majority of people have no clue about the history.

Anyway, the word drug has negative connotations, mother nature provides Hemp, the linked article doesn't use the word "drug" and I disapprove of it's usage in the title ;)

Anslinger was behind the illegalization of hemp in '38...there was a mix of racism(blacks were known users and raping white women high on hemp),corporate payoffs(Dow,DuPont and others wanted it out of the way so they could capitalize on their exploding pharmaceutical developments in their businesses) and right wing Hollywood backlash against the burgeoning black influenced art genres(blues, jazz, dance etc) where marijuana was freely used.

How about we worry about him being suspended.

Can they suspend someone who did something before being part of the NFL? I can think of a few players (even on the Pats) who did things in college, but were never suspended by the NFL for it.

I thought it was funny he was taking the stance that he was not a patriots type of player...

Didn't randy moss admit to smoking weed/ get in trouble for it?

Also wasn't kevin faulk arrested for possession (The "ultimate patriot
")

I honestly think marijuana is a complete non-issue unless he fails drug test and misses time - in which he is a moron ...which is the real red flag here...
