Re: UDFA news thread

Nah, it's hard enough chasing all the screwy threads that pop up around here as it is. Besides, he's MY binky, I want to keep him under the radar until he lights it up in camp. :snob:

Sorry.. I laid claims to him and Hernandez at 9:44pm yesterday (see Bryan Anderson thread). Your claim came in at 10:27 pm. You'll have to share. :snob:

See the draft forum for the past few months - late comer.

RB Pat Paschall, North Dakota St.

I reckon he could make the roster.

This draft was really, really deep.

Re: UDFA news thread

The Patriots have agreed with John Wise, wrestler from Illinois, to come in for a tryout. He played DL for Western Illinois in 2004-2005.

Re: UDFA news thread

It depends on Sicko's actual career.

If he's a history major and wants grad school, and goes into history to become an academic, it makes sense. If that's that he wants to do.

First, grad school is paid for by the school in these areas.

Second, average time to degree is 10 post-undergrad years. You're better off getting started early.

Third, the bodily wear on NFL players is considerable, especially for a high-collision position where players are prone to concussions.

Sicko decided against the NFL because he wasnt drafted, he wanted to be drafted and join the league. It's a damn shame to let what others think of you determine what you think of yourself.

How different would Brady's career have been if he was an UDFA? Probably not very different at all, he wanted to make it badly and was dying to prove everyone wrong. If being undrafted was enough to stop Sicko then he never had the guts needed to succeed in the first place. A damn shame.

Re: UDFA news thread

A small school back. Like the highlights, seems quick on the field, hopefully he can make the 53.

Re: UDFA news thread

The Colts got some guys I like and the Cowboys signed a Gronk of their own.

You can look at it that way, or you can say something like, Myron Rolle is making a big mistake by even looking at the NFL. He'll make a lot more money in medicine than he will in the NFL.

When did I mention money? Sicko WANTED to be in the NFL, if Rolle wants to go into medicine then he should do it, I don't care which route they chose but I do think it's slightly tragic when one lets fear or other people's perceptions determine their life.

Sicko went from wanting to be in the NFL to not wanting it simply because he wasn't drafted.

I can't see how you got that from the article. It seems to me that he has two aspirations, with the NFL being perhaps the higher one. But when he looked at the statistics, he made the decision that he'd much rather pursue one aspiration over the other. We don't know how his future plans are weighed against one another. All the article says is that he thinks the chances of making it as a FA are not that good. His position is limited as well as some teams don't even carry 3 TEs.

Put it this way: I sat through the draft talk on Rolle and there were a lot of people questioning how important football was to him since he went on a Fulbright. In other words, he was penalized for having multiple aspirations and not putting football higher. So this is just the flipside of that coin. Some people like Sicko and Rolle can actually picture themselves doing other things. One chose to try for the NFL (Rolle) and the other didn't (Sicko).

Makes you wonder--if Belichick had any talent, he may have joined the professional lacrosse league rather than become a football coach.

His brother...possibility of three Gronkowski brothers in the league(long shot, but could happen).

John Wise, wrestler from Illinois, gets an invite to try out.

BB really love his wrestlers...at least this one has had college football experience.

Re: UDFA news thread

Whats the word on Lindsey Witten? He was not drafted and I haven't heard much from him on the free agent scene.
