I can hardly pass up making the short journey from Stamford, CT to the Meadowlands next Sunday.

I just wondered if any of you can put my mind at ease about using stubhub; any experiences, good or bad? Would you recommend it, or suggest just turning up at the stadium and 'finding' tickets outside?

I've only had one experience with stub hub with regards to Sox tickets.

It wasn't a good one.

I paid for the tickets. Two days before the game they hadn't showed up. When I called them, they said that the tickets weren't available anymore.

They couldn't get me new/comparable tickets in time.

I went to Ace tickets instead. They were pretty acccomodating.

Like Slag, I've only had one experience with StubHub, but it was a good one. I bought a bunch of tix for the Nascar race up in Loudon and it was pretty smooth.

You can probably score some good deals "finding" them at the stadium, especially as game-time nears (or even slightly passes), but I just like having the tix already in hand so I don't have to worry about it.

I got my tickets to the AFCCG in Pittsburgh in 05 from Stubhub, and it was a good experience. Granted, in hindsight, I probably overpaid, but it was worth it. I think they have some sort of a guarantee. Check out www.seatstoremember.com, I get a lot of tickets off of that site. I went to the Pistons-Heat ECF games this year all while purchasing same-day off of that site. Enter the code "friend" and you get 10% off.

We bought tickets twice from Stubhub, Both for football games, including one at the Meadowlands last year (we did buy those tickets [for the game the day after Christmas] months in advance), and the Indy/Pitt playoff game last year. No problems. Tickets arrived on time and were fine.

I've used stubhub at least over half dozen times-twice already this year. I have yet to have a problem.

I used it just in July for a concert. Tickets came earlier than I expected, everything was just fine. I would use them again.

Everytime I've scanned StubHub their tickets seem way too overpriced. I'd try eBay first. That's where I get my out-of-town tickets.

It figures that I'm the only one to have had a problem. Story of my life.

I used Stub Hub to get some Yankees tickets a couple of times and I've never had an issue.

Another happy StubHub customer here, I've used them a number of times but on one occassion we needed tickets to the Daytona 500. We ordered them and waited...

The day before we left for our trip, the tickets still hadn't arrived so I called StubHub. Because they don't actual hold the tickets they had to check with the seller to find out where the tickets were....which was in transit and due to arrive late on the day that we were leaving.

Okay we're dead right? What StubHub did was got the tickets detoured to their office and then they FedExed them down to the hotel we were staying at in Florida.

We sweated it out on the trip down wondering if our tickets would be waiting for us and low and behold, as promised they were!

Five stars for StubHub from me :)

HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I used them on the selling and buying end, and LOVE them. I went to the Sox/Phillies game in Philly. Bought the tickets the night before. They were waiting for me right next to the parking lot in a building up there. Got them right before the game, great seats. Sold tickets there as well. Same great experience. They are wonderful.

I bought baseball tickets in Washington DC from Stubhub this spring. Very good experience and the seats were great.

Used them when they first opened shop years ago. Great experience then. Haven't used them in recent years since the prices now all seem way overpriced and no different than any other broker's site.

Regards,
Chris

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would go to stubhub over eBay. I would be interested in hearing someone explain what possible advantage there might be. As long as you purchase from a reliable seller with decent feedback (and get yourself a PayPal account), eBay is the best. Oftentimes, you can even haggle the price down a bit.

To me, it's much easier to compare tickets on Stubhub -- they're all organized on one page, and you see which seats, how many and the price for all of them at the same time. On e-Bay, a listing might say something like "Two Tickets! GREAT VIEW!!!!!" and you have to click on it just to find out where the seats are. Then you might have to wait a week for the auction to end, only to lose the tickets at the last second. By then, all of the other good tickets probably are gone. Then you're stuck. And if the tickets happen to have a "Buy it Now" option, it's usually for a vastly inflated price. If you're getting tickets for a game that's still a few months away and there are plenty of tickets, maybe it's worth wasting a few weeks trying to win an auction. But I've always been able to get great deals on Stubhub or similar sites without having to wait.

Well, I would agree Ebay is preferable, but only if there is a Buy it Now option. Frankly, I seem to lose a lot of bidding wars and I hate not knowing whether or not I will get my tickets until the auction ends. When I decide I want tickets, I just want to pay for them and be done with it, not watch some auction and be glued to my computer making sure someone doesn't outbid me in the last 30 seconds (which ALWAYS happens). If there is Buy It Now, fine. Otherwise, I find it a hassle and often disappointing.

You might not want to announce you're a Yankees fan around here! :D Some people here were ready to kick Tom Brady off the team for wearing a Yankees hat at a press conference during his first year as a starter.

Slag, did you get your money back?

you should have no problems with them, but they are overpriced... they dont actually have tickets anyways... they allow broker/scalpers (same thing) to list tickets on their site. basically they are just a middleman.
