May be the best corner in the draft...... without question, the best special teamer in the draft.

We now have butler - bodden - mcCourty - wilhite......we need this talent with all the wr's in the division.

great pick.......don't you think that the jets had the hearts set on this guy - of course they did - we snatched him away.

The fact we stole Rexie's binky is reason enough to love him:) The more info posted about him the better I like it.

With a killer pass rush, you don't need great corners. I was really hoping for a pass rusher first and foremost.

Just sayin'

You are 100% correct. The problem is that there was very little chance in going from a below average pass rush to a killer pass rush in one years time.

The team needed an outstanding cover CB with speed to spare. They got that.

another CB goes off the board... wow

While I am not putting McCourtey down because we haven't seen him yet,Seriously some homer radicals here would find something positive if BB drafted Zoltan Mesko at #1

And thats the truth
Damned straight, now take you meds.

Jery Hughes just went at 31 to the Colts......he had no value at 27?......pleeez.
Jerry Hughes doesn't even remotely fit our system.

Quick, name the pass rushers for Rutgers the last three years! :)

Mr. Magoo. and AJ Soprano..........that's right we just drafted a guy from Mr. magoo's alama mata

And Seattle closes with cornerback. Quite a run on CBs. DEs -- not so much.

To be honest, I'm more agnostic about the pick than anything else. However, the more I read, the more positive I'm becoming.

But the fact remains, just like those who wail and gnash their teeth because the Patriots haven't made enough big moves in FA, we can only evaluate this draft once it's complete.

I mean, really. People are talking about how this is the deepest, most complete draft in years and then the entire forum goes on suicide watch when we take a CB in the first round.

Now that I've actually read the reports on this kid, I'm more impressed. If the Pat's brain trust sees him as a little better than he's generally rated, then we got a kid worth a pick in the teens with a late 20's pick. Pretty good.

And we sucked all around on ST last year. And it does matter, a lot.

Wow. Sorry to say it but that comment sounds ignorant. If you've been following the draft at all McCourty's value has been rising all year and has been pegged as a late 1st round value and one of the top corners in the draft. His special teams ability is only a bonus.

You can hate on the position picked, CB, but it's silly to hate on the player. McCourty is a strong all around player who can play the run, play zone, and make plays on the ball.

2010 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Devin McCourty | Bleacher Report

That's all well and good, but there were a lot of good players left, so we draft the one who will help us out at a position of need.

That would be assuming McCourty is merely a special teamer, which ATPIT is simply an asinine and presumptuous claim to make.

Thank you! How many posts in this thread have said "I'd never heard of the guy, but somebody on ESPN said something about special teams. OMG we drafted a special teamer in the 1st!!!"

With all due respect guys, if you've never heard of Devin McCourty you can't be following the draft much. Gosselin had him ranked #24 overall. The elite ST skills are just a bonus.

And with Patrick Robinson a first rounder, the cries of "we could have waited a round and still gotten McCourty" are pretty silly.

But, but, but rookie pass rushers always get double digit sacks!

Horrible pick passing on Ordick and Bryant. The team is no better then it was yesterday and the 1st round is done.

Right now I am thinking the Pats move into the lower 30s and give up a 4th or 5th for that move and grab Golden Tate or Benn or maybe Kindle or Gresham....That would make it better

I don't think they sit at 44
