I was just thinking... every year NFL fans hold draft parties. But now this year it starts on Thursday, not Saturday. So are any Patriots fans on this board still going to have one?

The last 7 years I've had a day long party with close to 50 people coming over. The new format makes it impossible to continue that tradition. :steamed:

The new format sucks, and is nothing more than a ploy to increase ad revevue....

Thursday and Saturday night and a Saturday? Too spread out.

Never really had an actual draft party. Usually just got together with a few friends and had pizza and beer. Nothing too crazy. Might do that Thursday and/or Friday night.

Personally, I think Goodell really misunderstands what the draft is all about. This new system is ludicrious. The old way made Saturday of the draft an event. Now it is a burden. You can convince your wife/girlfriend to allow you to give up a Saturday afternoon and possibly evening to watch the draft. How many wives/girlfriends will be on board having to skip Grey's Anatomy or CSI for the draft one night and lose their husband/boyfriend on date night the following evening?

Funny part is, when BSPN first approached the NFL about televising the draft 30 or so years ago, Pete Rozelle was like, "What?! You want to put a board meeting on TV? Who's going to watch that?!" And now it's prime time programming, bay-bee!

I'll just be happy if i can find a reliable stream to watch the draft.

With the new format sucking as much as it does, I don't even expect to watch the draft, so there's no shot at having any party.

You don't expect to watch it due to scheduling conflicts, or just out of some protest of the new format?

Before it gets misinterpreted, I'm not a fan of the new format either, but I'm still going to watch.

The format sucks, and putting it into the weekdays just makes it worse.

I'm still confused. So you're not watching it because you don't like the change? Is it that much of an inconvenience? If you enjoy watching the draft, that seems like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Personnally I dont dislike the changes. It makes the hype just longer.

Bummer. I'm no draftnik but I enjoy watching or better yet following the draft live here and elsewhere on the internet. Best entertainment evah! watching draftnik fans melt down and go ballistic as slot after slot BB passes on folks' binkys.

Unfortunately this year I'm babysitting Thurs-Sun at my Cape cottage where I don't have internet access and where the TV is in the room where the kids sleep, so no draft access por moi.

How so? I used to turn on the draft and either have friends over for Saturday or spend the day doing the type of work around that house that could be done while watching/listening to the television. Sunday was a laid back thing where anything missed was not a big deal because the pace meant that little extra was going to be learned anyway. With this idiotic format and the first rounds being during the week, parties don't make sense and I have no real need to spend Saturday trying to keep up with the lightning rounds at the bottom of the draft if I haven't been tuned into the earlier rounds already.

The draft isn't like a game, after all, and missing it live isn't going to mean that I missed some amazing pass, run, catch or anything.

The new format sucks, It should be sat and sun like it has been for the past 14 years...

Going to Vince Wilfork's draft party at Pinz in Milford, MA. Last year a friend I went with won an auction bid for 2 RS/Yankees box seat tickets and a "meet and greet" in the RS clubhouse for $1600. Minor glitch: he got the tickets, but no "meet and greet." Bianca is trying to work out another type of compensation as a resolution.

Much like the Pats away games friends and I rotate taking turns hosting and this year the consenus was....."I have to be up at 4am, 5am or 6am to go to work", so there will be no "hosting" this year. I'll watch as much as I can, but the new format is definately taking the "get-together" part out of the equation. And yes if there's an "All-new Grey's Anatomy" on I'll be forced to watch the draft on one of the smaller TV's.

Another one of us who lost his man card...

I am glad I went to radio city music hall last year. I am tivoing the draft and will watch it whenever. I have never really enjoyed the draft too much as entertainment.

I typically work tuesday thru saturday in the afternoon/evening so as usual, new format or not, no draft party for me.
