Curious to see what people on the board think. Personally, I don't particullary like him and prefer Mcshay. Some of his boards are puzzling.

Based on the Huddle Report evaluations, Kiper rates in the top 10.

However, what the Huddle Report and others don't do is re-evaluate the players. 3 years down the line to see if they were good, bad, horrible picks.

Personally, I don't care for Kiper. The only time he's gotten a Pats pick correct is when he's repeating the pick. The one time he "predicted" Meriweather, he was actually mimicing Rich Gosselin.

Mike Mayock gets high praise even from the likes of Bill Belichick. Another guy who usually nails down the Mock Draft stuff is Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News. In regards to Kiper I don't think he has much credibility whatsoever. He has some of the worst mock drafts and I pay ZERO attention to them. As far as knowing college talent I don't see him do anything or really break players down. He's seems to just go with the popular and most obvious team need.

kiper is good at picking the top 10 guys watch is someing that all of us on this bord can do. Mike Mayock. is the best IMO

I think Gosselin is the most accurate with his final mock. He must have good sources.

Kiper is alright. I can tell he's passionate about the draft. But he doesn't always evaluate the picks the ways the teams would, rather he values them as he likes em. Which prompted some GMs to say some uncomplimentary things about Kiper, but it's all fun and games really. It's funny that the draft has become so big that Kiper can make a living just thinking and opinionating about it.

Yes, is he the best? Hell No! And to those who voted No, are you a good draft expert?:p

Of course not. But then, I'm not on TV claiming to be and taking money for being wrong more often than our local weather guys. Which is tough to do, believe me.

Long before anyone was watching the draft Kiper was putting out his draft bible, the guy has been in the game much longer than most of yall realize. I like Mel, mainly because, of his "it is obvious at this point that the New York Jets have no idea what the draft is about" line, an absolute classic!!!

The best was Joel Bushbaum. When Joel died I bought Kipers book for the 2003. It was not as good as Pro Football Weekly and I'm glad to say that Nolan Nawrocki is keeping true to Joels' way of putting together the guide.

Here is an article about Joel that patsfanlisa posted on another site. Joel had had the respect of BB who wanted to hire him in Cleveland.

Kiper is not the best draft guru but certainly not nearly the worst either.

I tend to listen to what McShay has to say about the draft far more than Count Chocula. Kiper is the best at quaffing a mean widow's peak, though.

Please tell me this is a joke. McShay is a total crock. He was never a scout, never in an NFL department, he's just a guy like me and you who was thrown next to Kiper.

I mean he hates certain players for no reason. He still believes TO THIS DAY! Jevan Snead is a better QB than Colt McCoy!!!!

The guy is full of it.

The guy is the biggest joke of them all. And i want to thank a few friends of mine who actually pointed this out to me about two months ago.

Even was told that Mel, Mayock and others even didnt like him.

And now i can see why. I mean is anyone perfect? Absolutley not, even my fav. experts get it wrong but from what ive read and seen of him he seems to almost steal ideas from other people call them his own and them blab them over TV to say "hey look see i said it first!"

I never said he was good, just that I listen to him more than Mel Kiper. I saw it as being more of an indictment on Kiper than praise for McShay.

Interesting opinions. On TV they brought up "possible round one RBs" and Kiper said
"Best at #22,to NE is a good fit."
Bruschi looked at him with like two heads, chuckled, and then said Ryan Matthews to Houston at #20.

I like Mike Mayock, talks smart, he was a former NFL player, which helps.

What does kiper do for the other 11 months of the year?

a qualified no-

The guy has an encyclopedia-like memory and can recite the strengths and weakness of so many prospects, yet he has a relatively poor grasp of NFL systems and how different schemes prioritize different skills.

That "Best to the Pats at #22" thing helps something make sense to me... on ESPN they have that Build Your Own Mock program using Mel's board and opinions or something... anyway it has the Pats taking Kindle at #22 - I switched it so Kindle went ahead of the Pats pick so both Graham and Kindle were off the board just for sh and giggles.. it had the Pats take Best at #22. I stopped playing with the mock choices right then as it lost all credibility to me hahaha.

Funny, a mostly reliable source told me the same thing about Best to the Pats, except he said not at #22. I don't buy it.

I have respect for Kiper... He is a pioneer who contributed to make the draft the big event it is now. However, I prefer a guy like Mayock.
