Anyone else giving up their season tickets?

96/97 Had season tickets, living in Pa was better off just going to 2 to 3 games a year.. Happy doing that... I dont know how people can afford to go pay parking etc.. Its a huge finnacial commitment..

The parking is what kills you! If you want be anywhere inside of Marathon distance to the stadium, you're gonna pay $40-$50!

I like to go to 1 or 2 games a year, and watch the other 14-15 on TV in my living, smoking a stogie and having my wife serve me!! No lines at the bathroom at my house either (unless my 17-year old daughter is getting ready to go out!)

On another note, apparently, there is some new team called the Hartford Colonials of the UFL where you can get season's tickets for $100. If you're desperate for live football, that might be a way to go.

No one has bashed Kraft in this thread or said anything about signing FA's.

I started this thread as I'm going to give up my season tickets because I can't justify spending the $5,100 plus another $320 on parking to drive to Foxboro eight times a year.

I have faith in BB and ownership to put a Championship caliber team on the field each season. Giving up my season tix doesn't have anything to do with my love for the Pats.

Dude, in all seriousess, some of these Pats fans will pay absolutely exhorbitant prices for tickets.

If I was you, I would buy all three, and then sell them off game-by-game. If they're costing you $507.00 per game, you can probably get at least $200-$250 each per game on craigslist or stubhub from some of these suckers.

Then you end up with an investment flip $2000 - $2500 for the season.

With that, take your wife out to a nice dinner for $200.00 and stash the rest in an interest bearing money-market or CD.

Do that for three seasons, and on the fourth season is on the house!

Then, just rinse, wash, repeat! Three seasons of investing, with a fourth on the house! Not a bad deal at all!

That is the biggest load of crap ever. NOTHING compares to being AT the game. I've attended all but two Patriots home games since 1994 and wouldn't trade my season tickets for the biggest TV in the world. Being at the game you can see the pass patterns develop and line play on both sides (not on TV), what's happening on both benches/along the sidelines, you experience the communal spirit of fellow fans, tailgating, fresh air, and a bunch of other stuff I probably cant think of at the moment. Anyone who thinks television is the superior experience doesn't know how to watch the game or what to look for.

Restroom lines

One can strike up intimate friendships waiting in line for the restroom.

This site is quite fascinating. It appears our owner sucks because he is the only owner to privately finance his stadium AND has the nerve to charge more.

Also, maybe the reason our "cheap" organization doesn't sign overly expensive FA's to nine digit contracts is due to the fact that the fan base can't handle the financial committment.

Thank for finally pointing this out. Those Red Seats that are often empty at the beginning of games where people don't make as much noise are more or less what kept this team from becoming the St Louis Patriots. Take a look at the Buffalo Bills if you want to see what a team in a small market with no corporate funding looks like.

Can I take a look at Green Bay instead?

Great advice:rolleyes: If you follow it you will be one of those giving up your season tickets or at least having them taken away by the Patriots for re-selling them.

I don't think it is quite that easy. First of all, you'll lose a fortune on the preseason games you are forced to buy. Second of all, Patriots tickets are not really selling for much of a premium over face value these days because face value is so high. Yes, you could make some money selling the Colts game or the Jets game, but you're lucky to break even on all the rest if you go by the prices on TicketExchange from this past year.

I love going to games. The crowd, being able to watch the whole field. It's exciting. I left Mass in 1991 and have lived in 5 other states so being a ST holder is out. I go to a game or two a year at Gillette and have actually gone to their away games more than home game. The difference in cost for the seat and parking is sometimes pretty dramatic.
One game I go to every year in the Patriots at Miami. Even getting the ticket thru Ebay(a lower level seat) with the parking it's almost 1/2 the Gillette cost(lower level seat) if I get the ticket at the real price.

Mrs B and other stalwart fans gave up their STs last year. Then they signed up for the ST wait list where they can then buy seats for the games they want to attend at face value. A good deal.

not really such a big deal. I like driving, and the ride between Montreal and Boston is pretty nice with no real traffic between the cities. snow can really eff things up in the winter, of course. they do a good job of plowing 89 but i wouldn't do the drive in a blizzard.

I am from Montreal and I have been a season ticket holder since 2001. I have attended 56 (48-8 record) in person since then, including all the playoffs games as well as some of the classic bad weather games (OAK in '02, MIA in '03, etc.). It usually takes 6 hours to get back in perfect conditions...or as much as 9 hours when I drive back in the snow. I made it to the stadium in the '03 Snow Bowl vs Miami while everybody complained about being stuck on Rt 1 or homw.

You guys (from the Boston area) don't realize how lucky you are to root for a top-notch NFL team. Or just to have a team to root for that is located close to you. My father had season tickets for the Quebec Nordiques between 1979 and 1995. Went to many games with him as a kid. The team left the city in 1995 and won the Stanley Cup in Denver in their first season. Then I had season tickets for the Montreal Expos in 2003-2004. The team left the city in 2004 for Washington. You guys are complaining for what???

I consider myself as privileged to be a STH of the New England Patriots and I am looking forward to the day where I will be taking my daughter with me.

You are a great fan! I know the economy has been bad for many but all places have their fair weather sorts. I was waiting till payday but I renewed today thanks to your inspirational post.

And what of Muffy? Has she been able to find tickets to the heated box seats that she was looking for yet. Lord knows I was concerned about her catching a vicious chill last season.

That is awesome mate. Good for you.

I'm ready to let my tickets go. Hopefully some rabid Pats fan, like yourself, will take the opportunity to get tickets in the lower bowl as there will be plenty available soon.

I gave up my tickets a few years back. It just turned into a pain in the arse after a while. When the game experience starts to be more like a chore than a good time, it is time to hang it up. I had great seats in the old stadium and crappy seats in the new one (although they tried to sell me on that being in the corner endzone of the 200 section of the new stadium was far better than being mid-field of the lower part of the 300 section of the old field which are now club seats). There is nothing worse than watching a game where you miss half the action because you have trouble seeing the other end of the field.

I have had recently had the worst experience with Patriots tickets that I can possibly imagine. About 12 or 13 years ago my Father put his name on the season ticket waiting list, he figured it would be a great way for him and I to spend some time together. Two years ago my Father was diagnosed with brain cancer, and after a very long and hard battle he passed away last year.

I was talking to one of my neighbors the other day and he said he finally got his season tickets, and I know for a fact he signed-up after we did. I contacted the Patriots tickets office and was told that they tried on numerous occasions to contact my father. This part is true, I talked to my mother and she remembers people from the Patriots calling, but my father was unable to use the phone, and she thought they were just trying to sell stuff anyway.

So the long and short of it is I was told that because it wasn't in my name, the only thing they could do is sign me up for the list now. Does anyone know if this is correct information, or if I just spoke to a mis-informed employee? I have waited 12 or 13 years, I would hate to have to wait until 2023 to be able to get season tickets, when I could have already had them. This is tearing me apart inside. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No suggestions, because what the Patriots say is law when it comes to Patriots tickets. I just want to offer my condolences, that's terrible to hear about your father.

Find out the name of the chief ticket administrator and write him a letter including what you're saying here. Please report back to this forum what they say in response.

Gainzo meet the great believer????

If you sell your tix to him this year - next year you can transfer them to hi sname.

Unfortunately my friend and season ticket partner just backed out so it looks like I will be giving mine up this year as well. So the wait list should get a little shorter for you. But you would think the ticket office would be a little more understanding of your situation.
