Price: Antonio Bryant may be on Pats' radar

Yes sign him. He would be a great deep threat for the Patriots. Also, for once he would have only 1 QB throwing to him instead of 3 in one season!!

I'm really hoping this is true cause I think he's the best free agent we could sign right now, aside for Breaston.

I'd much prefer him over josh reed, cause the gap between the two of them is quite big. Bryant is a solid number 2 receiver, whereas Reed is a 3/4 receiver.

St. Pete reporter called in today on Sirius. He said he was surprised Tampa did not make more of an effort to resign him. He found out later from someone in the organization he lacks the desire to play ( football doesn't come first ), does not run his routes and is actually being blamed for six int's.

Originally I wanted him but not after what I heard. I hope they target mason but considering his wife decision a few years ago, we might not get him.

He's not a deep threat but he did have big play ability early in his career. He's more like an Anquan Boldin type receiver where he will get you tough yards over the middle and occasionally break the big one. He could be a great #2 receiver and really flourish when Welker returns.

I can't think of anything that would be more detrimental to the team than a guy who isn't on the same page as Brady.

I concur

Took me off guard when I heard the interview

Why did Bryant's productivity drop in HALF from 2008 to 2009 though? That has me worried. But it also probably means that we can get him for less $$$.

Antonio Bryant: Career Stats

cause he went from Jeff Garcia, and Brian Griese. as he's QB to Byron Leftwich, Josh Johnson, and Josh Freeman, as he's QB
Also had knee and hamstring issues as I recall. Tough to say if he was indeed a bad attitude with the Bucs, or if he was one of those guys the local beat writers didn't like and blamed for their record in Tampa. Obviously he had problems in Dallas but it almost seems like he's being made a scapegoat for much of Tampa Bay's descent to the bottom of the heap in the NFL.

That reminds me of what Raiders fans were saying about Moss.

Yeah, I have to echo that sentiment. And I won't make any excuses for a guy who doesn't put in the effort on the field but there is something to be said for being on a winning team and having a great QB throwing you the ball.

This was not a fan and he also questioned the
move. And then found out the reason TB did not persue him.

Just to add to what the reporter said: he mentioned that TB didn't think he came back to 100% after his I injury and missed some time in the preseason and never recovered

It's not like we've never seen media personnel have an axe to grind with a player. All that I'd like to see is coffee with the coach to see where his head is at. Most 2nd tier WRs have some kind of issues to be sorted out.

How about the Pats offer Bryant a Stallworth type contract? If he's a turd, you can cut him loose after 1 year with no cap implications. However if he is a find, you just let the rest of the contract kick in and you've got yourself a very solid WR still in his prime for the next few years.

Except Bryant has a longer track record of meatheadedness. Stuff that goes back to college. Moss has always been surly and irascible. But he hasn't pulled the stunts that Bryant has.

I mean, he got into a tiff with Bill Parcells and was traded. He got into a fight with Mike Nolan and was also traded. He got into numerous fights with assistants at Pitt. he sued the NFL because he failed a drug test they gave him after he was released from the 49ers (he claimed they shouldn't have tested him because he wasn't an NFL player). He's been arrested for driving 100 pmh in a Lamborghini drunk and then resisting arrest. He had 4 separate run-ins at Pitt. Once for stealing phone access codes, once for fighting with teammates, becoming combative and abusive with campus police (that one, I'm not sure about, since I think it's quite easy to become abusive with campus police--speaking from experience), getting into it with an assistant coach. He was suspended twice by the university.

What receiver doesn't have a record for meatheadedness these days. I think the well behaved ones have become the exception to the rule.
