Moss: "I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Who cares? Moss is just pissed he had to take a lot of unwarranted **** last year.

"Don't pay" means, time to find a team that will pay me top dollar for 6 years when I have three good years left. The Patriots aren't suckers.

As much as I criticize BB like I would any non-divine being, I truly believe every move he makes is an attempt to field the best possible team for now and future championship runs given the salary constraints. He likes Randy, I like Randy, but he'll be paid or not depending on how essential his salary chunk is to winning.

I would love to personally punch every envious POS that judges a guy who runs long pass patterns all day and plays as many snaps as anyone, injured or not.

Moss deserves to, but he can't. So be it. He pops off sometimes, I don't blame him, I'd say worse.

Hope he plays next year. After that, I hope he and the team do what's best for both.

Unfortunately, deserved or not the Patriots now have a reputation among players as being cheap and not willing to pay fair market value...not a good rep for a team hoping to sign impact free agents...

the question is...is it deserved?

The Patriots aren't spending titans, but they are definitely not cheap either. We've been the most successful team of the decade and, in doing so, we've had to spread our money out. Considering the fact that Randy was lucky enough to be one of the single pieces of the puzzle to land a big contract, he (above all) should not be talking about the Pats "not paying". ESPECIALLY to the media.

Whatever. Moss will be 34 at the start of the 2011 season, does anyone honestly think a long-term deal would be a good investment?

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

I've yet to see one person properly defend Moss making these comments to the media.

A. He was wicked stoned.
B. He had an Al Davis flash back
C. He saw the TO talk on here
D. Early male menopause
or
E. He most likely was just having a bad day and now regrets shooting his mouth off and making an ***** out of himself. I have come to see him as a fairly classy guy and am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

That didn't really do a good job of putting "they don't pay" into context.

It doesn't put that into context....He definitely shouldn't have said that. But what it does put into context is that his words were meant as a way to blast his way out of town now. As I read everything I can find from a few sources it comes off as a player who at one point thought this might be the last stop in his career and now realizes this is likely his last year here and he will have to leave his boys but he seems like he still wants to be here for this season and seems like he wished he would get paid to stay longer but knows this is it for him.

Bottom line is in this troubled CBA market any player on short money is a good investment and Moss will have to play hard if he wants one last chance.

That was my point. "Don't pay" is code for, won't pay big long term contracts for "past their prime" time.

It's a back handed compliment, actually.

Hey, I hear Willie McGinest might be available. He's waiting for the call.:D

You people are so freaking sensitve...god, just enjoy Moss for this year and let the team and him take care of the rest afterward.

Re: Moss:"I don't think they going to extend my contract here"

Well, clearly I'm going to freak out about this and argue with everyone!

OK, I'm getting riled up and should definitely take a break. This has been fun in an annoying kind of way.
You're not arguing with me. This is crap from Randy. I'm not even going to get into the "they don't pay" BS which is a non-issue except to those who can't, or won't, look at the cap numbers. What disturbs me the most about this, is that BB, Brady and every other team person who spoke about Randy's "dogging it" issue (a national story, by the way), absolutely went to the mat for him. And this is how he shows gratitude for that support? Honest to God, the more times goes by the more I become convinced that nothing, absolutely nothing any pro athlete says (including every Patriot), should ever surprise me.

This could be awful.

He might just be using his last year as a show case for free agency and his "greatest all time performance by a receiver" that leads us to a fourth Super Bowl will be just a sham.:(

I will, but that would be much easier if Randy didn't spout off for no reason.

It probably won't matter too much, if they offer the highest amount of money to whatever free agent they target.

If Moss can do that (which I pray he can), then he could also do it without the whole "they don't pay thing".

I love Moss as a player and actually think he's a very good person, but he's one weird cat.

PS, I think Brady has 2 more left in him.

Yes, probably.

Brace yourself, Patjew, more awful quotes in extra points.

Wanted to relay them before Florio got to them...

"We got the same offensive line, running backs, wide receivers, so we have the same offense. I don't see why we can't get back to the same potent offense we had two or three years ago. I know it takes a lot of hard work, a lot of time and a lot of effort. I'm willing to do that, so hopefully we can get back to the same offense we were a couple of years ago."

On whether he feels the Patriots can win a Super Bowl this season:

"I think we can. We've been there. We sort of have the same guys, but I think that over the course of a couple of years we've lost some key veteran players. We lost Rodney. We lost Mike. We lost Tedy. We lost Seymour. We lost [Asante]. We lost some key veterans that were key components to the success of the New England Patriots before I even got there. I think that it's just time for the young guys to step up and really make a name for themselves. Jerod Mayo is a young player. He is the heart and soul of our defense, so hopefully a lot of guys will follow him and step up."

How much longer can you play?

"Until these wheels come off. I'm still having fun. I think when you get around a good team and a great group of guys that you fall in love with where you are. The guys that I've grown to appreciate and love -- Tom, Faulk, Wilfork -- guys like that that I enjoy coming to work every day and leaving work.

Thanks, I had already read those. I'm not sure what those have to do with the several "they don't pay" quotes.

Except for Troy Brown and a handful, Wide receivers are all Prima donna's. I don't know why, but they're all attention ho's that complain all day when they get attention, or more when they don't.

Look around the league. they're the dancers and yappers more than any other position, for some reason.

And like I said, "Don't pay" is code for don't pay big contracts for players on their down side. All these guys know the sucker teams that will pay for a name and we should be glad the Pats aren't one of them.

Maybe those other peole defended Moss because he didn't deserve the criticism? You act like Moss asked them to make those comments. They made the comments because Moss was being unfairly criticized by the media.

I think you're right about that, and if he had to say something (which he didn't), it would have been nice for him to say all of the words rather than speak in code. But still nicer to say nothing. The weirdo.

PJ, you couldn't be more more wrong.

He's got 3. Minimum. :D

Oh, the horror!

That's it. We're absolutely doomed. The cat's out of the bag and before we know it every player will be spouting off.

Wes Welker: "I'm glad my knee is trashed and I get a respite from being the darned pack mule for this ungrateful franchise."

Stephen Neal: "I'm so happy this is over. The Pat's team doctor hasn't let me fully heal in three seasons."

Ben Watson: "What am I? ...a friggen track star! Throw me the ball once and a while! I won't miss this place!"

Donte Stallworth: "Ray Lewis is my new hero and the Pats suck."
