Dungy takes another shot at Brady/BB...

the amount of media cred this guy gets is asinine. He is not a good coach. He leaves the bucs, they win the super bowl the next year. He leaves the colts, they nearly go undefeated. His credibility is entirely based on his players liking him, giving spiffy quotes to the media, and discussing his faith publicly. He is herm edwards with better talent. If bb had said that he would have had a difficult time coaching an openly gay player (like dungy did), he would have gotten killed by the national media. Could you imagine the field day peter king and gregg easterbrook would have had with that one?

His opinion shouldn't matter anymore than any other decent, but now in the studio former nfl coach. But because he is st. Dungy, people will treat it as gospel and a truly persuasive and authorative opinion on the brady v. Manning debate.

You don't understand because you don't want too. Not once have I raised Dungy's religious view points. Not once. I merely pointed out in the 2 topics we have debated, you keenly supported both Tebow and Dungy and that there was a common theme. You've refuted nothing because I haven't argued anything.

Your own disposition shines through like a beacon and quite frankly, if you can't see you walked straight into that comment, then that's your problem.

And to think, I haven't even brought up Dungy's classy comments about the Saints yet either.

So were you referring to some other common theme besides their profession of faith? Enlighten me, please.

I've already proven my point that it's you, not I taking a standpoint with your theme posting which is clearly evident.

So let me play detective for a minute....

(1) Our first exchange in this group is about Tim Tebow and his religious pro-life views.

(2) Our second exchange is about Tony Dungy, and whether he is, or ought to be, giving his opinions on air, given his mantra of "quiet strength".

(3) In both cases, the religious angle was brought up by *you*, not me (feel free to look it up...I just did).

(4) You then accuse me of having a theme that runs through my posts that, apparently, is obvious. You don't say what they are, specifically, but the number of similarities between the Tebow and Dungy threads are two: (a) they're both about football players, and (b) they're both about football players who happen to have declared a specific religious faith and who are now speaking their opinions on things. That's it.

(5) Since I doubt that you'd make a big deal out of (a), that really leaves option (b).

(6) You claim that it is *me* making the big deal about this mysterious "theme", I point out that, of course, given all the diverse people I've posted about recently, and given that the only two things you referred to were Tebow and Dungy, it's not difficult to surmise that what you're really getting at is the religious angle.

Now, perhaps I've missed something here. Again, feel free to enlighten me. Since it's untrue that I have a theme here (as evidenced by my numerous positive posts about a lot of people very unlike Tebow and Dungy), what else could you be referring to? Please, do tell.

Who's making a big deal out if this? Doesn't look like me does it.

I think it's funny that you accuse me of something with zero evidence to back it up, and when you're called on it, you then accuse *me* of being the one to make a big deal out of it.

But ok, I'll let it go.

PS - Congrats to the Saints!

rodney's going to let dungy have it next year on tv:D

Payton just took a shot at Dungy too. :D

I've got plenty of evidence to quote with, I'm just choosing not to.

You're right though. Back on topic. Tony Dungy as a media commentator is a loud mouth disrespectful fool

I like it best when coaches keep their mouths shut. Dungy is too recently removed and is totally biased to say anything on the matter.

I did not like it when BB was bad mouthing that WR from the Eagles, something Lewis.

Coaches should talk football, not who is better than the other guy.

Dungy has lost credability. Dungy is now a mediot.

Poking fun at somebody for the tragic loss of his son is classless, and disgusting. And if I can add to those words, falling to a level that even most Colts fans wouldn't have gone back in '04

he wasn't poking fun. he said the following:

"Dungy's just bitter that Belichick will always be considered a better coach than him. He should be worried about paying attention to what's left of his family instead."

This poster didn't kill his son or make fun of it. His son killed himself. Stop pretending that you are so outraged over this.

And Tony SHOULD be paying attention to what is left of his family. That should be his primary concern. It should have been years ago when the damn family tragedy happened. It's not a guy working at Jiffy Lube living paycheck to paycheck. He's a filthy rich pompous bastard who didn't have to coach another minute of his life. He's a selfish prick who hides behind his religion. I think he's pure evil.

Sure sounds like he is poking fun to me. If you lost a son and heard somebody say some crap about you needing to pay more attention to YOUR family you'd probably feel different I'd imagine. Besides, how do any of you know anything about what kind of father Dungy was, or how much/how little he pays attention to his family? And why even BRING UP his family that has nothing to do with this thread, with a reference to his son's death? At the very least it is unnecessary discussion.

Plus I'm not "outraging" over anything like you claim, I was agreeing with a previous poster's opinion that the remark was classless and disgusting. You're the one that seems to be getting worked up here with all the name calling.

freddie mitchell.

I agree that it's not cool to bring up one's family, however, I recall being a bit outraged as a father when Dungy was doing his Father of the Year commercials that were on the radio every few minutes, not long after his son died.

Also, if anyone thinks that Colt fans wouldn't stoop to that level, are clearly forgetting the Bruschi stroke comments. Anyone who visited the RATS board during that time will remember the comments made by that fanbase.

Doesn't mean anyone has to take a pop at a family tragedy. I find it quite sad that others can make fun out of it.
He's obviously turned into a mouthpiece (and an inaccurate one at that) But leave the family stuff out.

It ain't big, it ain't clever and it sure as hell ain't funny. Ex-Head coach of the Colts or not.

I thoroughly enjoy whenever BB talks trash. Btw, I have no idea why anyone has a problem with Dungy giving his opinion on the outcome of the game, other than just a general hatred for the man.

Come on Dungy, Manning just threw a pick 6 in the Superbowl. Yes his Colts teammates could have done a better job on a couple plays, but don't parlay that into a pissing match with Brady and Belichick.

What's the point, you just sound bitter and feel like you have to run to Mannings side by calling out one play that was called unsuccessful for the Patriots.

I thought even you were more mature than that...

I would tend to agree with you, but Dungy perhaps crossed the line into the public realm a little bit by speaking for outfits that were homophobic and hostile to gays. Speaking for personal issues like that in public opened Dungy up to the criticism, IMO, even though I think no one should mess with other people's lives like that. Now, if only Dungy would have taken that advice.
