OT: I'm rooting for the Jets today

Nobody seems to be giving the Jets any credit. They are in the championship game. Win this and they have a chance at winning the Super Bowl. That chance is simply too great for me, as I despise the Jets. If I have to watch Manning raise another Lombardi above his head just to keep the Jets out of it, I will do so and do it with a drunken and disgusted face. However, I still think whomever comes out of the NFC alive is taking it this year.

Every single "Expert" is predicting the Colts to win, not surprisingly every single one of them picked the Chargers to win last week. The Jets have everything going against them and that is why they are going to win.

Why? Because should New Orleans advance I'd love nothing more to watch Brees put up 40+ against them. I don't want to see Manning potentially get another ring and then have to listen to an offseason full of Brady/Manning comparisons. I have no faith in New Orleans beating them based on the fact Manning has been there before and obviously is as dangerous as anyone, and would rather see him remain with just one ring.

I hate the Jets as much as anyone - but since this is all I have to choose from I would at least get some enjoyment of watching Brees light them up, which would quiet the Jets fans for the offseason.

So since that's my only option, that's why I'm rooting for them today.

i totally agree. no way in heck i want to listen to the media spin this Manning/Brady thing any longer. Although i hate the Jets more than the Colts, in the long run it does us no good to have the Colts win. We will still have that hated rivalry with the Jets no matter what happens, and i do respect what they have done on Defense...and i am a big fan of Greene (sh, dont tell anyone). I do beleive the Jets will go the way of the old Ravens teams that won on D and had a pathetic Offense.

What i find funny is the media like to trash New England style of Offense and that we are pass happy, cant run the ball, and it is the system that makes the average players very good. On the other hand, they like to slurp Manning every chance they get because he is a field general, making adjustments on the fly ect. Well guess what, they are running the same style offense as we are with no running game. the only difference is that the media love Manning and hates the Pats.

It depends. If this is a low scoring contest and it remains close, this game is definitely going to the Jets. If the Colts can get out to a quick lead then the Colts have it in the bag. The Jets are going to bring the blitz and that, I think, will ultimately be their undoing. Look for Dallas Clark to have a HUGE game as well (because I don't think either of the Jets' safeties can cover him).

If Manning wins, you'll hear about it forever as he'd have only one fewer ring than Brady. If the Jets go and lose, it'll all go away. I'm just playing the odds and putting my faith in the fact that I just don't think they can beat New Orleans [provided they beat Minnesota of course]. My only wish is that the NFC game was first - that would be the only thing that could sway my opinion.

I don't want to give the Colts - and their nauseous fans - any more ammo for the "team of the decade" argument. The Jets are the lesser (albeit not by much) of 2 evils.

Go Jets........ugh.

I don't think either the Jets or the Colts is capable of beating whomever comes out of the NFC. The Saints simply have too many weapons and an opportunistic defense and can keep up with and beat the Colts while blowing out the Jets. The Vikings also have a ton of weapons on offense and have a defensive line capable of putting pressure on the QB with a four man rush, which both Manning and Sanchez will struggle with. The Vikings will also take away the Jets running game if it comes down to it.

I actually hope the Jets win, because that would embarrass Polian. He belittled the Patriots accomplishment of going 16-0 but said that it doesn't matter because winning the Super Bowl counts. OK, I'll give him that. But then he says it was more important to get the consecutive victory record and most wins in a decade. Well, if you count the playoffs then the Colts have a big playoff loss in the middle of their win streak and if you count the playoffs, then the Patriots have the most wins in a decade. I don't hate the Colts, but I can't stand Polian

It's not that I want the Jets to win;

it's that I want the PoLyin, pick-running, holier-than-thou, noise-piping, rules changing, referee payrolling,
PI getting, Pansy-assed Colts to LOSE

That should make it pretty clear how I feel

:D :D :D :D

:yeahthat:

Plus it would be great to hear Indy get booed off the field as time winds down on that disaster. That would be one priceless Manningface!

Re: I'm rooting for the Jets today

The ONLY good thing if the Vikings win the SuperBowl is that Favre might finally go away and never come back...

Farve is never going away. ever! What is really tooo bad in all this is the media forces us (and alot of others) to hate Farve/Manning. There is no doubt that we should be in awe of what these guys do. Farve is, what, 40 years old. I am 42 and cant even get out of bed without limping around for an hour...this guy is playing football at a high level, so props to him. Manning is a great QB, no doubt, but i am so sick of listening to the media fall all over themselves over him. Brady does not get that because the media hate BB...so they take it out on the team.

it is kind of like watching the news. Each news outlet has an agenda and you can never really get the unbias report of what is really going on. Ok, they are great QBs, i get it. What about the other really great stories in the NFL. The media can only survive if they have some kind of story...they are eating this stuff up that Farve and Manning are still in this thing.

So since that's my only option, that's why I'm rooting for them today.

Screw you! Lets see the Jets lose in a heart breaker, then the Colts get destroyed in the playoffs.

Best case scenario is both buses crash on the way to the game (no one is hurt) but the NFL decides that the team that represents the AFC is the team with the most Superbowls for the past decade.

I can't possibly root for the Jets ... just not possible.

As far as manning winning another ring
... he's one of the greatest QB's ever, so what if he wins another one - he deserves it.

The Jet's deserve nothing ... they were given an unfair gift by even being in these playoffs.

Go home rats ... I hope nothing but inflated contracts for all of them. :D:D:D

I'll say this, I will still get a tiny bit of pleasure out of this if the Jets win.

Simply if they do beat the Colts then Polian will be very sick, they hand the Jets the game and the chance to go to the playoffs and gave up on an unbeaten season. I'm certain that Polian was behind that from all his talk about it in the press and any bad karma biting him in the ass is pleasurable.

I don't care of the jets but it would be fun to watch indy choke again. I would love for them to lose to the same team that they gave up an unbeaten season against. If the Saints do not win it though I will be sick, because I have a major psychotic hatred for the other three teams. Plus I do like some things about the Saints.

Exactly, he's one of the greatest QB's ever.... if he wins another SB, big deal. If the Jets won, it would be a fluke like the Giants in '07 and to me would be worse than if the Colts won.

Ideal situation - Colts lose in the SB (to the Saints).... to show that even the greatest of QB's can lose the big one.

Re: I'm rooting for the Jets today

With my like, we'll be watching Colts/Vikes in the SB and it will be a blowout and Manning coronation.

Go Jets.

You and I are thinking the same here. :eat3:

Please don't let the Jets win. I live in the New York area, and for the next two weeks we will all be bombarded with new nicknames for these clowns. Anyone who is old enough to remember "The New York Sack Exchange" cannot in good conscience support the Jets.

I don't care who wins between The Colts and Jest. I couldn't bring myself to root for either one of these so called "teams" without being physically sick. I doesn't matter who wins this game, as long as winner loses in the Superbowl.

I just have a feeling that if Manning makes it to the big game that they've got a shot, and I just don't want to take that chance. I'm more confident that either team in the NFC would likely beat the Jets, with my preference being the Saints.
