Glad I did not buy playoff tickets. Are you listening Bob?

My positive thought is with the season over I get part of my life back.

I would have gladly sacrificed it though for a trip to the Super Bowl.

Mega dittos to that.

I'm happy to have Tom Brady back in my life. :D Hopefully he'll be sharper with another year of healing in the offseason.

Positive thoughts right now:
-Brady will be Brady again next season.
-Our defense will get A LOT BETTER, with more experience.
-A very deep draft is coming, where we have a lot of picks.
-The injuried ones will get healthy again.
-We won't have to be nervous for the rest of the playoffs and enjoy the playoffs

We won the AFC east with a completely rebuilt defense (which wasn't helped much by the offense in key moments). Finished 4th overall in total points given up. It looks like a defense headed in the right direction IMO.

Edelman and Vollmer look very promising.

We have 3 second-rounders in the upcoming draft and 2 firsts the following year (one will likely be a top 10 pick).

We clearly know this wasn't a Super Bowl caliber team, as opposed to the last few years where we spent the entire offseason wondering what if one or two plays went our way/what if TFB didn't tear up his knee.

The Steelers didn't even make the playoffs.

Man, we need to have Wes + Edelman in the field together next season.

Guys relax, we're so spoiled sometimes.

This team won the AFC East with a completely rebuilt defense, barren of any sort of leadership. We can expect some of the younger guys to have gained experience and to step up in the following years.

Brady will hopefully recover and become himself again. We discovered that Edelman is essentially a younger version of Wes, who could step up big for us.

Hopefully Brady will be Brady next season, he was never the Tom Brady of old any point in this season. Part of Brady's struggles I think was the lack of an OC. The play calling is absolutely dismal.

Our defense needs changes. The secondary will be better with experience but the lack of a pass rush needs to be addressed and we need another LB or 2. Seau and Thomas are most likely gone.

Draft wise I think we should consider packaging some of our picks and trying to get a top 10 pick to get a player that will make an immediate impact rather than waiting a few years to pan out.

this team is an offensive coordinator away.....

I wonder how someone can single out AD in a debacle like this

the ravens generated 17 points in the 1st quarter on 42 yards of offense, courtesy of repetitious stupidity of brady and whoever was calling the player

*Better draft pick after loss (the classic post-playoff loss silver lining) + three second round 2010 draft picks

*The 2010 season may be uncapped and as mentioned in this post the NFL rules for the 8 final teams regarding free agency would be extremely restrictive. If next season is uncapped, the Patriots will now have an advantage over those eight teams in free agency.

*Tom Brady "rehab" year is now over. 17 games under his belt since the injury. Mentally very beneficial and he has been able to go through the grind of a full NFL season (+1) once again.

*We won another AFC East division title, any season that ends in a division title is something to take pride in. I'll be adding the 2009 AFC East title hat to my display collection soon.

Lots of negatives today....LOTS.

BUT. The play of Edelman was inspiring and I was glad to see at least one Patriot playing for a longer post season stay.

I honestly don't understand this talk of a Patriots decline over the past few years. It's damn near impossible to be dominant for that long a period, and it's expected that teams turn over personnel and work through some tougher times. Can you imagine not winning a playoff game since 1996? (until yesterday of course). If we can re-sign Ghost & Wilfork, we have a nucleus of players that will guarantee success for future years. We should be proud of what's been accomplished and get pumped for what should be a promising 2010.

Jesley Wedelman will lead us to the promised land!

I don't understand the "declining team" theory either. There are dominant franchises in every sport that will have down years, but rebound quicker than other franchises. Look at the Lakers, Red Wings, Colts, and, dare I say, Yankees. The Patriots are one of these teams that just isn't of the calibur to go far in the playoffs right now, but because of the way that the club is built from the top down, they stand a very good chance of coming back strong for many years to come.

Brady is halfway through his career and Belichick still loves to coach.

As far as being positive that's the best I can do.

We really need to go out and get an OC. It was shown all season long how the lack of an OC affected the offense, whether it was the poor play calling, or the excessive amount of time calling plays or Brady having no one to make adjustments with on the sidelines, the bottom line is we need an OC.

Lack of talent coaching staff, player personel (especially on defense)...mutiple years of draft failures has caught up with the team. The good news is now we got the picks; it is high time to use these picks to get real impact players (I am not sold on bill's ability on personel by the way. we need parcell/polian/smith type of GM that really knows how to put together a team; 100% control to Bill is a bad idea.. he won't bring in any proven guys to challenge him). Don't delay or trade to future...we don't have a "stacked" roster. Our defense is no where near a top 10 as some some people here fantacise. As I have been critical all season long, this team was not going anywhere... totally bizzare moves all off season with greg lewis, david thomas, gallaway, mathews, alex smith, seymour... I thought bill was arrogant and looks like I was right. it is what it is.

Question: We lost and the Jets won this week. Does that mean we'll be picking before the Jets, even if they lose next week?

Nope, draft order goes purely by record except for the 2 SB teams.

We'll have a new DC and OC next year.
