OT: NFL will look into teams benching starters

What are you talking about? They were going to look into the idea of making/encouraging teams to play these guys whether they want to or not. Welker's injury will be an example of why you don't force such an action.

Where's that any kind of negative post?

You truely think the league can make a coach play guys? No you don't. Stop it. Looks like you gut a fan in that fryar guy. He likes you.

Well first of all when did I ever say "simple walking" is dangerous even? Or did you make that monumental leap from "getting injured outside" to "walking".

Welker's injury was a fluke on a cut that could have happened in practice, or even on a morning run. It happened on the first series, where almost no one rests their starters currently as is. So this is absolutely not an example that would be used to argue against playing healthy starters. Then again, you really don't need an example or argument against this whole idea of forcing teams to play starters because it's a ridiculous idea in the first place.

A "fluke" injury is walking on a pathway and having the pathway crumble beneath you. It is not making a hard cut and having your leg collapse from under you. We call it a 'fluke' only because there was no contact, but hard cuts are part of the game.

And, yes, it will be an example used to argue against playing healthy starters if the 'investigation' is anything more than a sham.

I'm not the one 'investigating'. Take it up with the league. I'd be opposed to any decision which limited the discretion of the teams regarding who plays.

Oh I'm sorry, now you get to decide what a "fluke" injury is. Hard cuts are made all the time in football and basketball, but a bad injury untouched on a cut is NOT common at all. Hell just think of how many hard cuts Welker has made over the last 3 years, including training and practice. Fact of the matter is, this was not an injury due to a high risk situation that should have been avoided.

It will only be used as an example by someone that lacks the ability to think and argue logically.

Playing football leads to an elevated chance of injury, including a non-contact injury, in comparison to not playing football. Unless you're attempting to argue otherwise, you have no leg to stand on. I'm not going to get into this with you, since I know you're not so ignorant as to think Welker is the first player to suffer a non-contact injury in football.

Going outside increases your chances of injury vs. staying inside, that doesn't mean it's a logical argument for staying inside.

Anyway, this is pointless to argue, we both agree that the idea behind this whole "investigation" is stupid to begin with. You can't control who a team chooses to play and for how long.

Happens in pre season and practice situations, too. We should eliminate those as well. Only play starters in games that matter, if you can figure out which those would be...

Pioli used to talk a lot about how teambuilding is a process and it often takes an entire season of personnel moves and reps in practice and at game speed to build the unison and execution that finally constututes a championhip football team.

The broadcast team apparently said or intimated they knew that Brady cracked ribs in preseason and reinjured them against NY. He also apparently hurt that finger in practice. We should just wrap them all in cotton batten and line the supposedly best of them up on Sunday's only if the season is on the line...

Fans will love paying to watch that.

Read the whole thread, please.

This is one of the dumbest ideas ever. Oh wait, maybe proposing a 17 game schedule. Or playing a super bowl in london. This commish needs to cool down.
