Too much fantasy football here with football geeks trying to read a crystal ball on how far we'll get.

Don't listen/watch the media hype.

I've been reading threads and posts that we don't have a shot at the SB after being judged by FANS on how we match up.

I disagree.

Sure, its been a roller coaster ride this year but we almost beat Indy and we have shown potential to beat the best.

One game at a time in the Post Season.

Anyone agree that we can get to the SB?

Umm duh? of course we can. It's a matter of will we? I dunno. I'd like to think that if NE keeps playing as well as they did last week, they can beat anyone with ease. It's just a matter of their consistency and game planning now.

Just because we're not 14-1 or 12-3 doesn't mean we can't make it to the superbowl...

I think many hear are saying : anything can happen in the playoffs. But the overall "feel" is that NE should be able to win at home in January... but travelling to SD or Indy is ANYTHING but a slam dunk !

I, like many here I figure, would predict they won't make it out of the 2nd round game. I am hoping. I am believing it is a possibility. I'm just not feeling that it's a probability. I'll still watch, root, and throw pillows if they fail to win... but deep down, I am not putting aside money for February 2010 SB memorabilia.

If Darius Butler continues as an Inactive, anything is possible. Butler makes us long for the good old days of Earthwind Moreland.

Of course, the Pats "have a shot" or whatever the term was. Anyone who doesn't think so has slept through the 2009 season to date.

In the NFC, I think all but Green Bay and Minnesota could make it to Miami. I rule out Minnesota because I believe that time is catching up with Favre and I rule out Green Bay because I just don't think they're there yet. I leave New Orleans in because they have home field and a very tough "home" for opponents to play in, but what I really think is that Drew Brees is showing that he might just be the greatest September--November QB in the history of the NFL.

In the AFC, I think all but the Jets (assuming they make it) and the Bengals could make it to Miami. The Jets not just because they will be the luckiest team in the history of the current Playoff format to make the Playoffs but because you really do need something besides a cardboard cutout at QB to win a Super Bowl, which is what they would need to play to keep the Sanchize from throwing a handful of INT's under playoff pressure. I rule out the Bengals because I just don't think they're for real, despite Palmer (I am willing to reconsider the latter if they go for it against the Jets on Sunday; that would show guts and the kind of moxie that gets teams to the SB, but I think they'll take the "obvious" route and sit their starters.) If the Broncos or Texans luck in, I'd rule them out. If the Steelers make it, they'll be dangerous, but I just don't think they've shown enough consistency to get there.

For the NFC, my gut is that it will be Dallas or Philly and that Sunday's game is very important for that reason.

For the AFC, my gut is that it will be the Chargers or the Pats and that a Divisional Round matchup of New England @ San Diego will be huge.

What are you trying to say? That EM is better than Butler?

Absolutely. EM was below average but serviceable as a fill-in. In the last 5 years, what N.E. player has played worse in the defensive backfield than Butler?

Get ready for a long list...

I'd start with a vote for Deltha O'Neil.

Great sig image!

Are you serious with this comparison?

EM was plucked off the Vikes PS when Asante got hurt and when he did come back, he was BEHIND Troy Brown in the nickel package. He didn't have a single INT for the Pats in 04. He is the definition of JAG.

Butler is a 2nd round pick with 1st round talent. He is a rookie who may be hitting the wall or BB feels that he needs experience like Springs right now. He has shown flashes of being a VERY good corner. He is the future. Butler already has surpassed EM in career INTs and passes defensed.

IMO you need to exercise a little patience and go back and review history a bit.

I'm on vacation this week and I still don't have the time to put together that long of a list. Incredible.

I'd add Duane Starks to this list.

A contender for stupid comment of the year.

Hey! That would be a great feature for Patsfans. We could nominate and archive comments and threads. Then the last week of the year vote winners. I'll start making up some more of my idiotic posts starting Jan 1st.

This is one the stupidest posts I've read in a long time.

Obviously this is a joke, but I'm not getting the punchline.

Are you Earthwind by any chance?

I can't remember who said it but I remember Starks being dubbed "Interstate 23". He was beyond bad.

Yeah, imagine people thinking guys like Earthwind Moreland, Patrick Pass and Garrett Mills were great players!

Hank Poteat now. He was GOOD!
