UPDATE: Ads Turned Off Until Further Notice

I'll figure something out. All indications right now are that the ads in question was being served by Burst, so I'll see what changes I can make to do something different.

I guess the only thing is if you've ever wondered, this is exactly what the board looks like for those who donate - although that's hardly the point. But for now it will stay that way for everyone to make sure no one else has any issues - and I'll have to go from here and see what I can come up with.

Ian is there another way to donate. I can't use Paypal but would love to support the site. Is there an address I can mail a check to?

I say we make using a Mac a requirement. :D

If I have Norton Antivirus should I still run that Malware program?? I've always heard using 2 anti virus/malware is bad or counterproductive.

Yeah I'm not good with computers, please don't laugh :)

I was wondering what was happening to my porno machine every time I tried to lurk here. Thank you for stopping the insanity.

Thanks for heads up Ian. I wasn't sure if I was the only one experiencing weird behavior from my computer after visiting the site.

I rarely post, but I lurk quite frequently. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems (that I know of). Like many users, I received an e-mail from Ian informing us of the issues. I am glad to see that this site if run by people who give a damn.

Thank you Ian.

I would - I have Norton as well but ran both of those and they caught what Norton missed.

Kudos to Ian on making the tough call, but the right one. Hopefully, those who haven't donated yet will rally around and help keep the site up. Truly, this is one of the better forums out there and moves like this just prove how fortunate we are.

Heh, Mac user here and even before I donated, I never noticed the ads.

You don't have to use PayPal - you can do a one time donation and check out just like you normally would using a credit card. Just don't select that you want to set up an account.

BTW this (donations) isn't the point of this thread. The most important thing is that I wanted to make everyone aware that the ads had been removed so that you would all feel comfortable coming here without fear of ending up with an infected PC. Many of you have had a frustrating week because of this place - so the goal was to eliminate that and hopefully make everyone feel good about being here again.

Thanks I got it to work. Glad I could help in a small way. Merry Christmas to all!

I have never had a problem on this site. Perhaps its how I have my computer setup. I have Win 7 ultimate as my operating system on 2 computers, Windows home premium on the other, I use Microsoft security essentials as my antimalware and I control my cookies by turning off the automatic cookie handing and only allow cookies I select to be kept. I also use and run the Microsoft malicious software program

they have been adblocked for many many months :)

It's always interesting how many "computer issues" are actually Windows issues. I'll continue using my FOSS :p

Thanks Ian I really appreciate you putting your foot down even though it cost $.

I am very wary of spy/malware and fight it constantly, especially for my family, as they are rejects when it comes to puter software and security.

ubuntu them

Considering you'd have no worries about viruses, spyware or malware, how is that "not"?

I thought it would be simple, but obviously not.......
They can't handle a Windows platform, that everything is geared towards.....need I really go on?

Ubuntu is easier than Windows, and a lot more secure.
