Why the hate for Randy Moss?

It could be his back it could be how the team is doing. But I don't think that he is falling back into his old Randy Moss being an a$% ways. I was late and got in trouble let move on and worry about finishing games

Moss is doing the job - the miss the very underrated Gaffney!!

This is waht we are seeing too much this year. It seems he is jogging a lot and half hearted blocking. The reason why people hate on him so much is BECAUSE he is so GREAT. We don't hate on Welker because the guy goes 100% every time you see him. Welker has what 1/2 of Moss' natural talent. Welker has more quickness and you could argure hands but that is it. If Moss played the game with Welker's heart (or Troy Brown for that matter) waht could Moss do? Could he have taken the INt away form the Miami DB in the end zone last week? Maybe. Maybe not. It would just be nice to see him try.

What he said.

Harrison, Bruschi and Troy Brown would not be late and did all the little things that win Championships. Moss doesnt have the heart of a Champion.

And, Moss is susposed to be a Captain leading by example.

The only season he played poorly in was his last season in Oakland. He doesn't get a free pass, but the guy was playing for a coach who had been out of the league since the early 90s, with a offensive coordinator who was out of football for years running a bed and breakfast.

And with a QB who isn't good enough to be a backup in this league right now. I watched the Raiders games during his 2 years there and they were hard to watch. Saying that their kicker and punter are the only bright spots in that franchise is a huge understatement.

The same people dogging on Moss now are the same ones who believed the media articles during his Vikings days about how he sulked and didn't ever try. Meanwhile, he was on pace to pass Rice's records after his 7 years in Minnesota. Moss can score 23 TDs in a season and those people will still say, "Well if he actually tried he would have had 30!" There is no way to convince them. They are lost causes.

The media can portray any athlete the way they want, and people who don't have a mind of their own will eat it up. Moss never trusted the media, and the media made sure they made him pay for not sitting down with them every day and giving them great positive quotes for their articles each week.

My only problems with Moss are it seems like he doesn't FIGHT for the ball like he did when he first got here(was trying to PROVE he was still king is my guess), he would go up against 2 guys, battle hard, and come down with it alot of the times.....even if he DIDN'T come down with it, most times it was incomplete and not an INT.
And his blocking looks halfhearted these days.

This guy has unreal talent, and he used to show it consistently, it seems he is disinterested sometimes now........

I don't hate Randy, he's an awesome talent, and when he does EVERYTHING he CAN, he's untouchable.

Perhaps the reason why Randy doesn't "go up for the ball" as often as we want and his lack of good blocking is because his back still is bothering him. Maybe he is just being careful not to re-aggravate his back.

I don't think any of us can say "oh, he doesn't care" or "He isn't trying". Despite any one's view on him he is still having a very strong season. Some people just can't be pleased.

well, Randy has lost a step but don't blame Brady's end zone pick on him. Crappy decision and crappy pass by Brady, just like his last pick to end the game was.

My question is for those lucky enough to actually attend the games. Does Moss give up downfield on patterns sometimes when he's double covered? Sometimes its looks like he does on TV but that's only a rare shot since TV rarely captures that sort of thing.

Right now Randy Moss is the third most valuable player on the team. Should we lose Welker, Brady or him the season will be over. To bad mouth him is beyond dumb.

When the team goes bad, people like to look for a scapegoat and Moss seems to be a convenient one. Never mind the fact that he has over 1000 yards receiving and 9 TDs. The guy has been a model citizen since he came here. Even with getting sent home the other day, he did not mouth off in the press. This guy is on the tail end of his career and still contributing. Let's cut him some slack.

Well written...

This attitude of blaming Moss has followed him since day one. I'm sorry, but Randy has done his job. Yes, he's had a couple of drops, but Tom has made way more errors this season - do we trade him too? I first started visiting this board a couple of months before the 2007 season and I laughed out loud as many of you stated that Moss would be a zero factor to this team, that he's a problem in the locker room and that he'll never "get" the BB system. How was your serving of crow that year? Moss cannot take this team to the SB by himself, it's a team effort. If he could do it alone, he would have done it by now considering the crappy talent he had to endure prior to 07. Just chill. He's still the best receiver in the league. He still wants to win and I doubt he's going anywhere. If BB does let him go, you may want to start worrying about the coaching a little more than the WR positions, especially the way we've been out-coached time after time this season.

I also agree. The level of distain I have heard this week about Randy is sad. No wonder the man hates the media. How did this "late" info come out anyway? The media makes it sound as though BB had enough and meted out some punishment. That makes no sense to me. I am sure BB disciplines players throughout the season. We just don't hear about it. But we hear about this one?

People get upset that Randy doesn't seem to do the things he used to do. In two months he will be 33. He is not lazy, he is not disinterested. But he is starting to come back to earth folks. Like Bill says, cut him some slack.

One of the Providence Journal reporters posted it on twitter Wednesday morning and it all went on from there. BB punished 3 other players not just Randy Moss. BB sent a message to the team on Monday saying he wanted to see more dedication, preperation, coming in early and leaving later. When 4 players show up late to the next team meeting obviously action is going to be taken no matter who the 4 players are.

I agree that Moss' performace on the field does show that he is aging. He isnt firing off the ball like he used to and I think his jumping ability has also been effected. With that being said he is still leading the league is receiving yards and 2nd in catches. Hes still getting it done.

My problem with Moss is his impact on Tom Brady.
Brady led this team to 3 SB's with his favorite receiver on the field being the open receiver. Brady has now morphed into a QB who's throwing picks, some very damaging and game changing, every game when trying to force the ball to Moss. Many believe this is happeneing because Moss must be coddled and Brady must focus in on Moss to "keep his head in the game".
Why should Patriot fans be happy that our QB has changed HIS highly successful game to accomodate Randy Moss?
What the hell has Moss ever won???
It's not hate. It's honest football analysis. There is a big difference.

Get your head out of your a**.

Pre-Moss:
95 Games, 21,634 yards, 62% Comp, 7.06 Y/A, 147 TD, 78 INT, .048 TD%, .025 INT%, 88.5 QB Rating
Per game averages: 228 Yards, 1.5 TD, 0.82 INT
Per Season Averages: 3,648 Yards, 24 TD, 13 INT

With-Moss:
28 Games, 8,444 yards, 67% Comp, 8.15 Y/A, 72 TD, 18 INT, .07 TD%, .017 INT%, 108.2 QB Rating
Per Game Averages: 301 Y/G, 2.57 TD, 0.65 INT
Per Season Averages: 4,825 Yards, 41 TD, 10 INT

He is only on Pace for 4,851 Yards, 65.7 comp %, 7.94 Y/A, 29 TD, 13 INT, and a 96.7 QB Rating this year. That's still well above his career average pre-Moss. Saying he throws more picks is not just ridiculous but it's obviously wrong. The stats don't lie, he is throwing FAR LESS picks with Moss/Welker than he ever did before.
I mean, he only had the best single season ever in '07 and is having a above-average (and top 5 QB) year after coming back from a season long injury.

So what they hell are you talking about? Moss has clearly had an impact on Brady... He's made him much MUCH better.

1) Randy Moss is having a great year by anyone else's standrads.
2) Even if he has a bad attitude, he is keeping it to himself. When Brady doesn't like something, he yells at others, but that is him being a leader. Moss yells, is he a cancer?
3) I feel Belichick HAD to dismiss Randy from practice. If he didn't, that would create a huge double-standard and go against everything he preaches. For what it's worth, I think Randy's dismissal from practice came with a proverbial *wink* from Belichick... "You are not the problem on this team, Randy, but you know I HAVE to do this."
4) For anyone who doesn't like him, let's put TO, Brandon Marshall or Chad OchoCinco on this team and see how much happier we are. I would guess there would be less production and more drama, but what do I know.

There is nothing wrong with Moss. He is still an elite player who works hard and studies hard.

The problem is with the jackals in the press such as Felger and Callahan and related douches. Felgy and Callahan seem to have some innate bitterness toward the BB and the Patriots. Almost all their bilious rants about the Patriots have been misguided and mean-spirited.

I don't know if you all caught it but Terry Francona called Felger and smacked him on the air. Fleger was totally humiliated but the next day he was back to his bile and hate.

he's not what some people might call a 'patriot type'

the real problem is that there are some people who are 'off limits' to most in terms of blame like BB himself as well as brady......can't blame them so you have to blame someone else.

there would be no problems for this team if only BB was able to find more than one decent LB in the last 8 years

he needs to thank parcells for the LB's that helped him win 3 SB's (mcginest, johnson, bruschi, phifer

A "Patriot" type is someone who does their job, works hard, and is a good lockerroom presence. How does that not all apply to Randy? We've heard that he is one of the leaders on this team. We know he works incredibly hard and he obviously doing his job on the field. Seems like he is a "Patriot" type to me.

Randy Moss is doing amazing. He works hard, and luvs the hell out of this team. He's a team captain, and rightfully so. He's been seriously injured and is still leading the league in receiving. He's a beast. There's nothing to question. F everyone who thinks so.

Satch, pull your head out of Randy's a** and watch the actual games dink. Running up scores on inferior teams week in and week out (2007) to pull stats doesn't quite qualify as becoming a better QB with Randy Moss around. Teams eventually figured the Patriots offense out in '07 and Moss did jack crap in the playoffs that year. He's a disappearing act this year and Brady is killing this team with costly picks trying to force the ball to his binky. Try watching the actual games and then analyze what you see. This offense can't score in the 2nd half, they can't beat good teams anywhere and they can't win on the road.
In their 5 losses this is the Patriots offense in the 2nd half
0 points - Jets
0 points - Broncos
10 points w/ 2 red zone TO's including a pick to Moss - Colts
7 points w/ mo changing drive stopping pick to Moss - Saints
WHO was covering his Greatness that Saints game?? Embarrassing!!
7 points w/ 4th qtr red zone pick to Moss - Dolphins
WHO was covering his Greatness that Dolphins game?? Embarrassing!!
