i dont disagree but its weird when teams think losing a game is okay but charge fans the same amount for tickets for meaningless games and also allow other teams to make playoffs or decide their fate by resting their starters. This a fix which doesnt get enough publicity. Like the colts threw the game a few yrs ago allowing the titans to get in the playoffs. Somehow its okay for the league to allow this...quite sad really.

Honestly, I prefer it.

I don't have anything to really back this up, but I feel like not playing hard the last 3 weeks of the season are really bad for a team with a bye week trying to win the super bowl. I think the Colts would have had more postseason success if they didn't coast the last 3 games of their season every time they lock up HFA early.

Especially an offense that revolves so much around timing.

The way this season is going for the Colts, I'd say the odds of a classic home field choke following a bye week are getting better all the time.

Mannings legacy had been built on flashy stats in the regular season and epic failures once the real games start. 1 SB hasn't erased that and it's probably too late in his career to reverse it.

I agree... but...

Even if the Pats had a 21 point lead halfway through the 4th quarter in the AFCCG, I'd be nervous.

If it meant that I would get an extra home game in the playoffs to watch Brady, I would gladly give up one half of watching him in Week 17.

Normally, I would agree with you, but based on the last 4 years and the way Manning has been beating the Patriots the way he has and the Super Bowl I would now have to respectfully disagree. I don't have to like the guy, but I have developed far more respect for Manning now than I used to. IMO he is at an equal level with Tom Brady than I used to consider before '06.

It's great to say that you don't rest your players until one of them gets hurt, then your the goat. There is no right way to do it.

Well, you're basically supporting my point. I agree that Manning is an extremely talented QB and yes, Manning has beaten the Pats often in the last 4 years, but just once in the playoffs. Even during the Colts '06 SB run, Manning still didn't demonstrate the same high level of play that he does during the regular season.

As recently as last year, following an MVP performance and 9 consecutive wins to close out the regular season, the Colts folded at home in the first round.

So while the Pats haven't won a SB for a few years, it's not because Brady suddenly becomes a different QB in the post season.

Mr. Obvious reporting, in the playoffs the defenses are better. In most cases QB stats go down in the playoffs, even Brady.

Look at 2007, the Pats put up 36 + PPG in the regular season but only 22 in the playoffs.

Back to Caldwell's basic point, I think we all agree 10-6 and a Superbowl is better than 18-1.

Caldwell should nut up and go for 16-0

This might be the only time you guys get me to admit this but I am rooting for the Pats to win out the rest of the regular season.

Then the Colts will only truly be able to rest the last 2 games and that will most likely just be a half in each game, that I can deal with.

Then I hope the Pats are in their way come January and February.

How the hell did they end up in SD that year? Weren't the chargers 8-8?

I am with you. I actually like Manning and though I consider both Brady and Manning as fantastic QBs, I always kept Brady ahead of Manning primarily due to Brady's ability to deliver during clutch, especially the last two minutes.

However, after our last few games with them, I now believe that Manning is as great as Brady, especially during the clutch.

In fact, what startles me is my current lower confidence on our O assuming a reversal of the Colts/Pats game scenario: what if our offense had the ball at the 30 yd line with less than 2 mts to go and needed a TD against a Colts D that had two rookies playing key positions?

Hey gang-I was just wondering about BB and that look away handshake that he has made famous-Do you think that Sean Payton will want to punch BB in the face for this direspectful gesture???

One other quick question-Do you think that Brady will be pointing at a defender that falls down 3 feet in front of him looking for the flag while doing the "pee pee "dance??

Ya, the ridiculous rule that the division winners get the higher seed and HFA. Same kind of ridiculous rule that had San Diego in it over you all, who I think finished what 11-5?

Sounds like Caldwell is thinking like a veteran coach.. good move on his part.. I'm sure his fan base would rather have another SuperBowl
