Colts' new helmet for 2010 season

The DPI was a really bad call, momentum changer, imo.

However, it is ridiculous to try to say the Colts success is based on getting penalties called. I know most of you don't believe this anyway.

You could take any team in any game and say this should have been called or this shouldn't have been called and say the game was changed because of it.

Play better the rest of the game and it won't matter.

I always thought your own Richard Seymour was held every passing play, when he played in NE, pretty much like happens to Freeney. You could make the same argument there.

As for the competition committee, I asked this on here last year, why isn't there a Patriot representative on the commitee? Or every team for that matter? Or is there? Also, aren't they the same rules for all the teams?

Here's the point where you just discount what I'm saying by calling me a troll.

Now, now, there's no need for that.

In all seriousness, I couldn't stand OADonegy's motto of, "we do what we do".

Worst in-game adjustment head coach of all time.

If they stop "what we do", we'll just keep on doing it until it works.

I guess you didn't watch the Pats/Jets game from 2001 where the Jets were the beneficiaries of the tuck rule and subsequently won the game.

Mangini (when he was HC of the NYJ) had his camera crews kicked out of Gillette Stadium a year prior to spygate for filming defensive signals. No fine came down from the League.

Don't let facts get in the way.

Bad calls go against/for every team. Bad calls do not decide games. Bad calls don't lead Shaub to 3 4th quarter TO's. It is what it is.

I think you are wasting your time. He clearly is not here to discuss the facts

Re: Colts new helmet for 2010 season

I hate those phantom calls that COLTS always get when they are trying to get back in the game.

It already happened 3 times in Pats @ Colts games.

2006 AFC Final - PI on Hobbs in the endzone only because ball hit Ellis in his back. He didn't even touch the receiver. If i remember after that Colts draw us.

2007 AFC 1/2 Superbowl :) - again crazy call on Hobbs who was playing the ball. Ovcourse Mike Pereira said it was ok.

2009 - call on Darius Butler for having a better position on the ball then Collie. Up to this moment i thought that defender has the same rights to get the ball :singing:

2009 Colts @ Texans - Reeves get flagged because his hand get tangled a bit with hands of Colts receiver even though ball is overthrown about 5 yards.

All of those calls changed the games dramatically except in 2007 we were able to overcome that somehow.
I really hate COLTS because of that.

The 2007 game featured numerous absurd calls. I remember after that game I started a thread on if it was the worst officiated game any of us had ever seen. It was truly terrible. Thank god we won that one so we can at least bytch about that. But the 2006 AFCCG was up there.

The ineptitude of the refs in last nite's Ravens-Steelers game brings something to light - I've come to expect the occasional (or frequent...) poor officiating in the NFL. But 99/100 times, it favors no one team, so its pretty OK. Why is it that with Indy, it seems to ALWAYS favor them? I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I do think a) home crowd is a huge factor b) Polian's influence & intimidation is a factor.

Somebody need to explain this to me ! I know he is in competition committee, but does it give him so much influence as to what Refs to on the game day ? And how long is the tenure for this committee ?

THis has already been said a million times i'm sure but yeah... those calls were crap and gave the colts yet another win... those refs can expect a huge christmas bonus from Polian.

I'm just curious what an outsiders perception is regarding the Dallas Cowboys. Following the Spygate fiasco, Jimmy Johnson admitted to using a video camera in the exact same manner that the Patriots did while he was the Cowboys HC. The Cowboys won 2 Super Bowls, so are they cheaters as well?

Where is the outcry for asterisks for the Cowboys?

If Spygate had not happened and Belichick retired and then later admitted to using a camera to record defensive signals, would those comments have been as easily dismissed and ignored as Johnson's have been?

Doubt it.

I'm not one to condone whining about the refs, but I have to agree. They screwed Houston. I feel I can be objective about this as it doesn't involve the Pats (OTOH my hatred for the Colts may cloud my judgment).

The DB-WR contact rules that are in place today are there in part b/c Polian was sick of his candy-ass wideouts getting stifled by our DBs.

As for gameday - I would like to think not, but it's just becoming increasingly clear that the Colts are the beneficiary of a lot of questionable calls, a lot of them PI calls. I think perhaps the league and the officials are a little too cognizant of Polian's complaints.

Ahhhhh No

We have a curious history of face guarding, "roughing" calls (D Thomas), pass interference calls, and bogus spots.

Personally, I don't watch the NFL if it isn't the Patriots. The league makes the WWE look impartial and unplanned.

This league is going to give Manning a second championchip and they don't care how big the laundry bill will be to make that happen. It's fixed so don't watch.

Thanks ! So if it is a matter of whining/complaining to the league, why not somebody high in the food chain take this up with the league ? Why not BB get a seat in the comp committee ? Sorry I had to rant as this was always a head scratcher for me. I'm not asking we take Polian's route but I'm surprised that nobody else in the league is taking it seriously

I think its not tangible enough - its sort of like saying "Lebron gets all the calls". Yes, he does, and anyone who watches any NBA games knows that stars get preferential treatment. But there's nothing that can be done about the issue, its just the nature of the refs, its not premeditated, its just instinct. It's just the way it is. The Colts have gotten many questionable PI calls ever since Polian brought up the issue.

Yes, this-ten

Well let's think about this Sparky.

First of all, the tuck rule was an example of a rule being called correctly, whereas the Colts are getting calls that are blatantly being called wrong.

Second, if you really believe the Pats won three Super Bowls, etc., because they videotaped some signals, you really have no business talking about football. The rule says you can copy (i.e. write down) an opponent's defensive signals, you just can't tape them. You tools make it sound like the Pats stole other teams' playbooks or something. Get a clue.

Finally, I don't give a lot of credence to a guy who calls the Pats "cheaters" when his team responds to losing by changing the rules of the game. If the Pats have trouble with an aspect of the game, they try to find players who can help overcome that hurdle. If the Colts have trouble with an aspect of the game, they cry to the league until the rules get changed so they don't have to overcome the problem themselves.
