Win over Pats will prove Brees is better than Brady

Brees now has a complete team around him, the sky's the limit. Not even mentioning the elite numbers Brees consistently puts up, check this clip out and tell me if Brees is not on the level of Manning and Brady. I still stand by saying he is the best QB in the league not to have won a SB.

You're missing the point. I think Brees is a wonderful Quarterback who hopefully will have the opportunity to add to his folklore this season with post season success.

As for the numbers, well it's been comprehensively proven that Brees plays in pass happy systems and with his skillset ofcourse his numbers should be high. Brees over his career has averaged 517 attempts per season. In the past 3 seasons alone (not including 2009) Brees has averaged 613 pass attempts.

We all know he is good, but is he great like Favre, Manning, Brady and I guess Worthlessburger on that list too now of current QBs. The lead up to SB44 should establish that.

Yeah, you're right. In the end it's all about championships, and all the one's you mentioned have them.

True, but I still love watching him play and if I had the choice of replacing Brady with someone, Brees would be high on that list.

On a sidenote, thanks for the youtube link. He sure does have a sweet, almost poetic throwing action.

Not playing for the Saints he hadn't. That speaks volumes because of the history of FAIL of this organization. Also, after Katrina destroyed the city, no small accomplishment considering the distraction of that.

When Brady took this team to the SB, he did it with an 0-2 record, and after a season in which the Pats went 5-11. Sure, the Pats have done some pretty great things in the last 10-15 years, but it wasn't exactly a perennial contender. Back when MC Hammer was cool, Pats fans had two reasons to drown in their beers.

Brees has played under the national radar and scrutinizing press for most of his career in the lovable loser cities of San Diego and New Orleans. Tom Brady has been the most dissected athlete in the country for about five years now.

We'll see how Brees performs when expectations are through the roof and his team is no longer "the little engine that could."

The resumes are really close, I think a regular season at home on MNF would give Brees the edge.

Brady:
2007 NFL MVP
2007 AP Male Athlete of Year
2005 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year
4-time pro bowl selection
NFL Record 50 TD passes (Nothing big, just like the home run record in baseball)
NFL Record for most consecutive games with 3 or more TDs
NFL Record 16-0 Regular Season in 2007
Three-time Super Bowl Champion
Four-time AFC Champion
All-time Super Bowl leader in completions and yards
NFL Record 21-game win streak (regular season)*
NFL Record 21-game win streak (playoffs and regular season)*
*These occurred during separate winning streaks
Lowest interception total in reaching 200 TD passes of all-time (88)
Highest winning percentage in NFL history
14-3 in playoffs
NFL record 10 game playoff winning streak

Brees:
2008 Offensive Player of the Year
3-time Pro Bowl selection
2004 Comeback Player of the Year

I'd say a win on Monday gives Brees the edge. Oh, he also plays in a really windy-weather dome and in a high-pressure environment in New Orleans.

that video is cool he hit 10 out of 10 bull's eye's thats cool

By Pats fans' logic Dilfer is better than Marino

You can't be this dense, can you?

Brady has more wins, 3 championships, a 14-3 record in the playoffs and also leads Brees in every single statistical category while having a very similar number of attempts in his carreer (4,046 for Brady to 3,970 for Brees).

Brady TDs: 217
Brees TDs: 190

Brady INTs: 92
Brees INTs: 108

Brady yards: 29,495
Brees yards: 29,004

Brady YPA: 7.3
Brees YPA: 7.3

Brady passer rating: 93.6
Brees passer rating: 90.7

So he is more productive, won three SuperBowls (being 2 time MVP) holds the NFL record for most touchdowns in a single season, has won an MVP and has led his team to a perfect season. What exactly has Brees accomplished that is anywhere near this? 5,000 yard while throwing the football 635 times? Yeah, he sure is better than Brady if we put aside all this "winning" stuff.

Warren Moon,Jim Kelly,Fran Tarkenton,Archie Manning,Bernie Kosar,Vinny Testaverde,Donovan McNabb....I guess it's all about the stats, not the rings, with some people.

Thanks for the welcome. All I can say to answer your question is that I saw a stat recently that said Brees and Peyton Manning were tied for the least blitzed QB's in the league. I believe both were blitzed only 18% of the time. I've also heard that Brees' key to this success is the amount of time he puts in watching film. If he sees a blitz coming, most of the time he knows exactly where to throw it to thwart the blitz. He also resets his blockers pre-snap to protect against the blitz. I'm sure Brady is good at this as well.

i have to admit, i haven't watched him a lot. does he have a favorite target over the middle, like Welker for Brady?

Lol, from what I have seen on these forums is Pats fans are delusional and arrogant. Clinging onto past year's achevements. What the Pats and Brady did in past years aint going to help you come Monday. You have every right to be proud of what your TEAM has accomplished, but throwing that crap in Saints fans faces when talking about the CURRENT teams is just pathetic.

I am willing to forgive you guys though. Try again. I know you can do better.

tool.....oh wait you already are banned...nevermind

A Win over the Pats and 11-0 will make people question alot of things. Like for example, could the Saints be the next DYNASTY?, lol!

If that happens you guys will be put in the pressure cooker. Only gets worse from there on, with all the undefeated blabbering, from morning to night, nonstop.

You generally have to start with winning 1 Superbowl SAINT ANGER ;)

Drew Brees has one career playoff victory, Brady has 14, this is not even debatable.

The Patriots are 2nd in the NFL in scoring defense, and Miami is 27th. I'm not sold on the Patriots' defense, particularly against a strong running team, but I'm certainly confident in saying that it's better than Miami's defense.

Having said that, New England proved it could blow a lead against top talent, so I'm not as sure as you are that a 21 point lead means game over.

Actually they've proven they can blow a lead against sub par talent as well (which sucks), but if the lead had been 21 in the colts game instead of 17 the colts comeback would have fallen short. I agree with the saints fan, if they are behind 21, they aren't winning the game. Hopefully, the saints aren't winning the game no matter what.

If teh Saints win it will speak ONLY for that Monday night....to expand on that for a career has to be one of the silliest things I have heard...but there are always silly threads everywhere..

Unless they give out titles for going 11-0, most of the questioning will be by media personnel looking to be provocative. Sorta like how Tom Jackson declared at the beginning of October last year that Jay Cutler had surpassed Brady in the ranks of QBs. Look how that worked out for him.

Brees is the third best QB in the NFL, but his and Brady's numbers are very similiar right now with Brady being very rusty at the beginning of the season. If trends continue, Brady will finish the year with better numbers than Brees. Brees has easier competition in the playoffs, but we have seen him and the Saints blow the favorite role in the playoffs before.

Who knows? Could happen. But the next step is (a) to get to a Super Bowl and (b) to win the first one. As BB says at the beginning of every season, it's a big mountain to climb and gets steepest in January.

Monday should be a good game, though.

Oh yeah not too premature at all. I guess with that same logic Indy could be seen as a potential "dynasty" almost every year. Except for the pink forehead freak collapsing in the playoffs.
