Pioli obviously didn't do diddly poo :)

I do not understand the meaning of this post

Its a little past halfway mark, people criticized BB for making too many decisions in the offseason and it would show on the defense. Its to evaluate the draft, and the free agents pretty much?

Don't forget Jake Ingram. He has played in every game and has done a good job. I remember Mel Kiper and his co-horts laughing at Belichick for drafting a long snapper. I though it was a great pick. He is making people forget Lonie Paxton.

And i think it was a great draft. and a good free agency. You can't hit on everything e.g alex smith greg lewis and galloway but out of free agency we have our starting cb ss and olb and also a pretty good te.

btw unrelated but i was just looking at drafts and i was having a look at jacksonville's draft. I think they may have done even better than ours in their first 4 picks they found 4 starters LT, RT, DT and CB not to shabby

I think one that you left off thats kinda under the radar because of his position is Jake Ingram(sp?). Paxton was a very important part of this team and Ingram hasnt made us realize there was a switch, which is really the best praise you can give a long snapper.
In BB we trust!!

edit-lol, figures, two posts above me is the Ingram refrence. (& Jacksonville also used up a lot of resources to get those players, some of those resources being the 7th round pick that is Edelman and their 2nd next year)

Not exactly, lately. On ST punts, other teams are ramming people up the middle because they've stumbled upon the fact that Ingram isn't stout and solid like Paxton is at blocking. We had this problem flare up with the Bucs and now you'll see it every game from now on, unless we do something.

Jacksonville definately did and i am by no means saying ours was bad and i think we might just have some future stars. but you have to admit. 4 picks 4 starters. That's basically perfect as far as any team is concerned.

Agreed. Ingram needs to put on some weight too. But overall, am very happy with his performance thus far this year.

Probably one of Belichick's best drafts ever.

Even after trading Seymour this defense is #1 in points against, I believe. Or is it 2nd? Still excellent.

Bullsh-t........This isn't Ingram's job...........Paxton was good at getting downfield after the snap. This is a problem with assignments AND alignment.Look at the way the Pats align on punts................The punter is not set back as deep as other teams. This is to prevent the OUTSIDE rushers from getting to the punter.
The trade-off is that you are now vulnerable to an inside stunt........which is exactly what the Jets did on Sunday.Pierre Woods was lazy and slow with his zone block and did not pickup the inside stunt.

Other teams watch film,too...........The Pats punt out of a fairly tight formation and therefore you can't have interior blockers, blow their assignments.

Especially when it appears Woods was the one who missed his assignment, unless having Chung as the Personal Protector confused the line calls for Woods - either way Ingram is cleared.

And the punt block resulted in running into the kicker which wasn't called.

It was called later on another attempted block.

Very risky to try kick blocks up the middle. More often than not, you'll hit the kicker, which the Jets did twice.

The moves on the front seven haven't exactly panned out, but mucho credit to Belichick for overhauling the secondary on the fly, replacing WR depth, and drafting our LT of the future.

Totally agree, though the fact that they spent the #8 & #39 overall picks to get those two tackles underscores what an incredible coup Vollmer is. To find an LT with extraordinary size, athleticism and intelligence who can start successfully a rookie at #58 is pure gold.

Also, Belichick has made the fans go, Seymour who? with this defense.

BB is targeting someone with that 2011 raiders first round pick. Who are freshmen/sophs in college now that could be that guy/position?

With Warren, Green hurt off-and-on, a suspect pass rush, and a slightly better than average run defense, I woudln't mind Seymour's 8 sacks and 19 Qb pressures from 2008 onthis team right now.

With that said, I still support the trade for the 2011 #1 pick.

It's a pipe dream though. I would love for the Patriots to have this guy. But the draft class in 2011 is pretty deep with LBs.

Once you touch the ball, you can run into the kicker all you want.

Even though this fact apparently wasn't known olschool, he/she did make a good point that rushing up the middle is more dangerous for the receiving team because if you go for and miss the ball, you are more likely to hit the punter than if you try to block from the edge.
