Look at the size of that head!

He is just reallll special looking isn't he?

Why did I click on this? Wishful thinking I guess.

Btw I must be blind because I can't agree with half the masses that claim that Faulk made that first down. He missed it by about 7 inches by my account which was better than the spot but not a 1st down nontheless.

7 inches?
Where did you pull that number from?

Watch the clips.

and nonetheless is spelled wrong

Man, I just noticed how open Welker was in the middle.

I'm gonna get in trouble for this, but the way we were playing, we could have very well still lost if we made the first down. Colts had two timeouts. All it would take is two stuffed running plays and an incomplete pass to put us back in the same situation.

We can be better than the Colts, but not if we play like that.

Indy only had one timeout.

Yes, I saw the same replay video on ESPN showing the ball in his possession just before his back foot pressed the ground, likely a foot beyond the 30 yard line. Oh sorry, actually didn't see it there. :)

Listen, anyone watching the game in full motion could see that was a lousy spot. I'm with the crowd who wishes he never would have seen the video showing how clear it was. Oh well. As another pointed out, we made several judgment errors (like willy nilly use of timeouts) and that put us in a position to have a ref make a bad call (albeit the ref was in a bad position to know the exact spot). Hopefully BB and the team learned a lesson and have some serious motivation moving forward.

very. very simple. The 2nd replay clearly shows when Faulk gains possession. And that is when contact is made by the Colts LB. A good reference is to watch the helmet of Faulk. You notice the Colts LB make contact with his helmet. By this time Faulk has possession. It also show that Faulk had possession after he initially bobbled it and pulled it into his chest. Once in his chest, he has possession. When you reference those two facts, which they are, to the first angle you see that all those three things happen (ball corralled into chest, LB contact with Faulk and LB hand on Helmet) all occur when Faulk left leg lands on the 30 yard line. And it is also evident that Faulks left leg is in front of the rest of his body. Hence the ball is past the 30 yard line which was the first down marker.

Fact is that it was a matter of inches. Alot of the blame can be pointed to the Pats for wasting their TO's, resulting in them not being able to challenge it. But another issue is the fact that the Ref who made the spot, claimed that Faulk was bobbling the ball the whole way to the ground. That was impossible for his to see since Faulk back was towards him and there is no way he could have seen that. Especially since it did not happen. There was another referee in the vicinity who had a clearer look, although farther away from the play then the other ref, at the front of Faulk and should have had a better idea of when Faulk corralled the ball. There was no discussion or conference from the refs. I think that was the bigger mistake. The ref who made the spot did not have the best viewpoint to make that call and they never discussed it with the ref who may have had the better view.

the ball should have been spotted where faulk caught it, not where he landed. first down. shocking espn is focusing on the decision instead of the spot. anything negative toward the guy that spurned their franchise.

I jus want to the COLTS TO COME OUTSIDE IN THE COLD SNOW AND PLAY SOME REAL FOOTBALL LIKE MEN ..

THEN WE WIll SEE A REAL GAME.

Don't let them fool you.

""I think he had the first down when the ball hit his hands," Belichick said, "and then where it was finally marked and all was a little bit short."

But, he said, "it doesn't really matter" if he disagreed with the spot."

The so-called "bobble" ends at :28. on vid 1 and

Good call Bill and good catch Kevin.

1st down

Oh boy. Threads like this give y'all a bad name. If you hold on to the thought that "you won" long enough, you might just make it come true. I don't think it was a first down, but that's beside the point. Even if it was ruled a first down, it's still a bad call on BB's part. I know its hard for Pats fans to second guess their king, but this time BB screwed up. Dont get me wrong....99% of the time he's masterful. Jus not this time. Every coach makes mistakes. Unfortunately for you, he cashed in his 1% at a bad time and against a very good team.

I wish he threw it to Welker. That is all.

Welker was open on the hitch route. I hadn't heard much discussion about this but that's what I thought during the play. I think it was a designed play. Brady immediately looked for Faulk.

I wish to god I hadn't clicked that link. I was almost over this game. :(

He basically said on D&C this morning that he went to Faulk becuase of his pre snap read. He had almost no time to decide on where to throw the ball. The Colts were sending 6 guys at him. And he knew that Faulk had a LB lined up on him. I like that match up. I think everyone did, after all, it did get them enough for the first. Unfortunatly, that guy in the strip shirt said otherwise.

Well said. I still liked the choice by Tom, I just wish he'd had more of a chance to go through his progressions.
