Penguin.... schitt...?
Why did I click on this? Wishful thinking I guess.
Btw I must be blind because I can't agree with half the masses that claim that Faulk made that first down. He missed it by about 7 inches by my account which was better than the spot but not a 1st down nontheless.
Indy only had one timeout.I'm gonna get in trouble for this, but the way we were playing, we could have very well still lost if we made the first down. Colts had two timeouts. All it would take is two stuffed running plays and an incomplete pass to put us back in the same situation.
We can be better than the Colts, but not if we play like that.

You're right Phoenix....the hesitation of the call and lack of review was schitt.
Don't let them fool you.
""I think he had the first down when the ball hit his hands," Belichick said, "and then where it was finally marked and all was a little bit short."
But, he said, "it doesn't really matter" if he disagreed with the spot."

Good call Bill and good catch Kevin.
1st down
I wish he threw it to Welker. That is all.
Welker was open on the hitch route. I hadn't heard much discussion about this but that's what I thought during the play. I think it was a designed play. Brady immediately looked for Faulk.
He basically said on D&C this morning that he went to Faulk becuase of his pre snap read. He had almost no time to decide on where to throw the ball. The Colts were sending 6 guys at him. And he knew that Faulk had a LB lined up on him. I like that match up. I think everyone did, after all, it did get them enough for the first. Unfortunatly, that guy in the strip shirt said otherwise.
Oh boy. Threads like this give y'all a bad name. If you hold on to the thought that "you won" long enough, you might just make it come true. I don't think it was a first down, but that's beside the point. Even if it was ruled a first down, it's still a bad call on BB's part. I know its hard for Pats fans to second guess their king, but this time BB screwed up. Dont get me wrong....99% of the time he's masterful. Jus not this time. Every coach makes mistakes. Unfortunately for you, he cashed in his 1% at a bad time and against a very good team.
very. very simple. The 2nd replay clearly shows when Faulk gains possession. And that is when contact is made by the Colts LB. A good reference is to watch the helmet of Faulk. You notice the Colts LB make contact with his helmet. By this time Faulk has possession. It also show that Faulk had possession after he initially bobbled it and pulled it into his chest. Once in his chest, he has possession. When you reference those two facts, which they are, to the first angle you see that all those three things happen (ball corralled into chest, LB contact with Faulk and LB hand on Helmet) all occur when Faulk left leg lands on the 30 yard line. And it is also evident that Faulks left leg is in front of the rest of his body. Hence the ball is past the 30 yard line which was the first down marker.
Fact is that it was a matter of inches. Alot of the blame can be pointed to the Pats for wasting their TO's, resulting in them not being able to challenge it. But another issue is the fact that the Ref who made the spot, claimed that Faulk was bobbling the ball the whole way to the ground. That was impossible for his to see since Faulk back was towards him and there is no way he could have seen that. Especially since it did not happen. There was another referee in the vicinity who had a clearer look, although farther away from the play then the other ref, at the front of Faulk and should have had a better idea of when Faulk corralled the ball. There was no discussion or conference from the refs. I think that was the bigger mistake. The ref who made the spot did not have the best viewpoint to make that call and they never discussed it with the ref who may have had the better view.
