Official Pats/Colts Postgame thread

Question for anyone who was able to stomach sticking around for the postgame. I though it was very clear that Rodney Harrison either had been or was about to cry when he was commenting on the game during the postgame. Was I seeing things or did anyone else have this same observation? Not meant to bash or insult Rodney in any way, if anything I see it as a positive from a Patriot perspective that he still cares that much (though it wouldn't be good from a journalistic perspective).

Still stunned

I am still stunned and refused to sleep after the game. Great game for neutrals, and just like the Denver game we threw this one ! Turning point to this Lose is that IFFY ,,Crap call for PI against Butler. Yet again the Refs get involved just like last year against Vrabel.
Secondly i applaud BB for going for it and by the way, Faulk made it, thankyou Refs for yet another home call ! Lastly i was screaming to please let them score right away , and leave around 1.40 sec on the clock ,which would have been enough to get in field goal range. Tough loss and home field advantage is over ,,but not the season. WE WILL BE BACK. Regards Abdul. GO PATS.

Re: End of an Era

Belichick gave his proverbial "2 Weeks Notice" with that decision. No defense, no run game and a Coach who violates the cardinal rules of football. The Belichick Superbowl era is OVER.
Haha, wow.

Don't break your ankles.

Honestly didn't we blow a real similiar game against Miami in '04 where they came back and beat us in Miami? It's a regular season game, the Pats play football next week, and they control the division, let's see how the rest of the season rolls along.

I hate Laurence Maroney.

We have 3rd and 2 and I think we can infer BB approached the down knowing that if we didn't pick it up he was going to go for it on fourth barring a penalty/sack/loss of yards. He knows this before the play and still isn't confident enough to call Maroney's # to at least pick up a yard on third and make the defense respect the sneak. Don't get me started on the fumble... If we have a legitimate #1 back (or even a healthy Taylor or Morris), this is an entirely different game.

**** you, Laurence.

I'm fine with BB's call to go for it. Our D was worn ragged and in prime position to get abused. Lame call on Faulk from the officials hurt us there. Our D didn't have the stones to put up pressure late in the game and we got smoked.

Maroney had the fumble, but otherwise ran hard. BB blew it by not running on 3rd and 2. Why not give it BJGE as the upback - you're likely to at least gain a yd on a FB dive against that D.

the last 3 losses to the colts its almost like the curse of the yankees

I was going to post the exact same thing.

In response to the poster above, I think Rodney was in shock rather than on the verge of tears.
Hell, I am still in shock- i thought we had the game locked up with 4.05 to go and started feeling good about getting home-field and then within the span of 4 minustes the colts go through the pats d like a hot knife through butter and we're back on our heels. and Belichick if faced with a tough decision-it shouldn't have been close if we could have killed some clock and got the colts to more third downs!

almost felt like i was playing madden on my playstation

Anyone catch Florio saying that it's "hard to disagree" that Manning is a better QB than Brady? He said if Manning was on the Pats, they'd "be working on their 5th or 6th Superbowl" ring.

Florio is so anti-Pats, it's not even funny. **** him. The only reason we were in those Superbowls is because of Brady. Peyton can't get it done without Hall of Fame talent surrounding him, and never has. I'd love to see Peyton try to get to the superbowl throwing to David Patten and Troy Brown. Good luck.

What would a yard do? we needed two, the pass play was designed to go a yard past the first down marker then turn, everything would have just been pushed back a yard.

As I saw the defense tonight, there was something that bothered me in a very familiar way - finally figured it out - ol BB snookered us into sneaking the old 4-2-5 circa 2002 into the game plan. Yes, it was technically a 2-4-5 nickel but with both OLB in the down position and rushing the QB, it was essentially an ultralight 4-2-5. No wonder they got gashed. Hoped I wouldn't ever see that used as a base - and hope I don't unless we really don't care about rushing the passer. Such was the case perhaps 10 years ago when Belichick unleashed it against Flutie when he was with the Jets. He wanted to keep Flutie contained and forced to throw over a well formed pocket.

Frankly I'm at a loss, BB really let me down with this defensive gameplan. Was expecting/hoping for a 3-4 like what the 49ers recently used to great success (who essentially copied it from us). Manning has struggled in the past with the 3-4... it was a pattern we shouldn't have deviated from.

Florio is a ******* moron.

This was the 2nd lost fumble of Maroney's NFL career. He entered this game having only 1 fumble in 469 carries. People calling him out over this should probably never watch football again, or at least cease commenting on it forever, for the sake of all of us.

Yes, everybody fumbles, but that's not an excuse. Sure, having only one fumble in 469 carries is a great stat, but there should never be room allowed for fumbles in a game.

Just got done watching the game and feel sick. The PI call ticked me off more than anything, not only was the flag 10 seconds late, not only was it a free 30 yards, but it was also a free timeout. I don't have a problem with going for it because you just can't let Manning (or Brady or any elite QB) have the ball with a chance to win with a full 2 minutes on the clock. I'm sure the PI call influenced that decision too.

Oh well, if anything good comes out of this perhaps it will lead to Indy blowing off the last few weeks of the regular season and then another one and done. Without Dungy though you never know.

I'm sorry but, to me, that just doesn't make any sense at all.

Maroney also fumbled on the goal line in the 2006 AFCCG. Logan Mankins recovered it in the endzone for a TD. The man doesn't fumble much, but he chooses an interesting venue and timing for it.

The fumble didnt hurt them, they held the colts to 3 and out then scored on the next possesion.
Both teams made mistakes but the freakin refs cant eff up there, let the players good or bad decide the game.
