Curran: Jarvis Green out until December after knee surgery

This is a big-time loss. Pats pass rush is now below Zero.

I'm a big fan of Green's and I agree he will be missed, but I also realize that he has yet to record a sack this season while the guy who will be taking most of his snaps (Wright) has 4.

BTW, welcome to the board, you're off to a busy start. In case you were wondering, positive posts are also allowed. :)

Green will be back in time for the Saints game where he wants to show the Saints what he has to offer if he wants to play for them next season ;)

Green has only had one or two decent games. I'm not sure what this means though. Maybe more 4-3 with Tully and Burgess.

You'd think that if Brace were about to get his opportunity, he would have featured at least somewhat in previous games, excluding his cameo in the Jest game.

P.S. Our pass rush hasn't been ideal, but Green hasn't done much to help us in that category. Maybe it's time to jump on the "we should have done whatever it took to draft Connor Barwin" tinfoil hat bandwagon.

I think the pass rush is going to start coming from ILB's and Safeties posing as OLB's anyway. So many different formations popping up. I'm starting to enjoy watching D more than O. Not too worried.

Jarvis has been kind of invisible so far this year. That doesn't always mean he's not doing his job, but I think we'll be fine with Wright, Pryor, and a combo of TBC/Burgess/AD for passing downs if we want it. Besides, a game or two isn't a big deal, though doesn't he usually play well against Peyton?

It sucks to see Jarvis out. But better him than Wright, Wilfork, or Warren (BTW, any word on Warren?).

that was under the radar screen...hope he's doing ok and that there aren't many more surprises like this...

If he had the surgery last week as Breer reported, at the start of the bye, Indy would be approaching week 3 on a 2-4 week recovery timetable. Although in hindsight it might have been a better plan to have him undergo the procedure while the rest of them were heading to London...

Warren said on WEEI he expects to play this weekend.

That's good to hear. The fact he was on WEEI means he is likely to play.

Green has been ok this year. I'm hoping that he gets back soon, but the team will be fine.

LOL. Nothing like a well-deserved friendly b!tch slap to get you back on the right course!

Wonder if Tom is using the same source he used on the Brady timetable...

My thoughts exactly.

Over the next 2-4 weeks the team will have to adapt, which is what they've typically done anyway over the last 10 years.

Green will be missed, but we have the depth to cover it... of course there is the expected whine about the lack of pass rush, but right now we are the #6 rated defense in the NFL... sacks are a real sexy stat, but winning games is just fine..

The passer rating for opposing QB's is 74.0 which is pretty good and 5th in the NFL.. of course there could be more sacks, but these stats are overall impressive.

Do we have the #3 or #6 defense in the NFL? Yardage wise its 6th, points wise its 3rd. What is the official main stat? IMO, I would say points would be a better stat.

There is the continual whine about sacks and the pass rush, in reality our D is doing ok and as long as there is a W at the end of the day who cares..

IMO the most important stat in the Passing D is the 74.0 opposing QB rating, that is a very telling stat.. this stat is #3 in the NFL.. Saints 53.3, Jets 65.4 and then the Pats at 74.0...

I'm hoping that Jarvis can come back soon, but having Myron Pryor in his spot for the time being isn't a bad substitution either.

Hopefully Pryor will step up

He'll be back earlier than is being reported.
