Florio starts to rake up controversy with respect to Pats moves

Sure, they found a loophole, a grey area, and it can be argued that the Patriots are acting beyond the "spirit" of the rule. But the Players Association doesn't appear to be objecting too loudly about roster cuts at the end of training camp that get resigned after game 1 in order to non-guarantee that players' contract. So I don't expect the PA to object too loudly about members receiving extensions and raises using the similar tactics. Teams may have a say, but owner's may be more concerned about why their GMs aren't this creative.

But who gets to decide what the "spirit" of the rule is?

Considering that almost every team in the NFL does it, and 3 of them did it yesterday alone, I doubt it.

Well to be fair, Jets and Skins dropped players on Saturday prior to Sunday's games and re-signed them Monday or Tuesday.

The comments are right on, first this -
"So wait - who exactly is being hurt here?

The Patriots want to reward players who worked hard with lucrative long term contracts - demonstrating that they'll open the wallet for players who earn it - especially those who signed cheaper "show me" contracts.
...
This is one of the many reasons why players will run through walls for Belichick. He's tough but he's fair and he will reward the "right" kind of players."

Then this one sums up all the hate (jealousy) the best -
"If you hate them, it's only because you wish your team was this smart.

I sure wish mine was."

Basically, I think the competition committee should just close every tactic the Patriots use.

BTW, on an unrelated matter my real name is Ron Borges.
