If Adrian Peterson was here, the Patriots would not suddenly transform to a running team.

Maybe not but you sure can bet that Tom Brady would not be the only player on the minds of the opposing DCs every week to take down to limit offensive production and blitzes from other teams would certainly become a rarity.

1) this is pure speculation.

2) Adrian peterson has probably the best mix of speed and power I've ever seen at the RB position, having that said I'd be willing to bet my house if BB had adrian peterson he'd change things quite a bit.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. If AP was here, the Patriots would probably be more balanced, ala 2004, than they were in 2007. How much more would be the question since you'd still have Randy Moss on the team and the O-line that is inconsistent in its runblocking.

On the contrary. Teams would start using run blitzes more to counter AP on this team since the O-line isn't consistent.

Adrian Peterson, with this O-line, would not be nearly as successful as he is with the Minnesota O-line. And it has to do with the fact that Minnesota's O-line is consistent in their run blocking. If the Pats O-line was consistent in its runblocking, then that would be a different story.

Are u off your meds?!!! Adrian peterson has a very good left side of the line true. But your basically calling adrian peterson shawn alexander.

This team has Tom "F'in" Brady, Randy Moss and Wes Welker. It's got an offensive line that's designed to hold up against a pass rush and not to plow opponents under in the running game.

Minnesota's O-line:

McKinnie: 335
Hutchinson: 313
Sullivan: 301
Herrera: 315
Loadholt: 343

New England's O-line:

Light: 305
Mankins: 310
Koppen: 296
Neal: 305
Kaczur: 315

Notice that Minnesota is not only larger at every position, but the line is about 30 pounds bigger at each tackle spot. Furthermore, with all time greats like Jackson and Frerotte manning the QB spot, that team's been all run, all the time.

You jumped in on a point and either completely missed the point or decided to make an irrelevant comment just to bash on Maroney, and now you've followed it up with this? Really?

Sheesh!

If you read earlier in the thread i was not only the 1st person to comment but i have a few stating that maroney is talented but has some issues so why bash him? He is still a patriot(for the time being) and I ride with the red white and blue.

Your statement was if we had the best RB in the league our offense would not change! really? even myra kraft would ask BB wtf he's thinking.

sorry if my post was not relevant enough for you

The irrelevant post was the one preceeding that one:

Yeah because we went 16-0 because of maroney's record breaking touchdown season...... O right.

I pointed out something to another poster in regards to his assertion. Your denigration of Maroney's impact during that season was irrelevant to the two posts.

Size of an O-line doesnt necessarily dictate whether that team is a running team or not btw. Size is usally relevant to scheme we do alot of screens and draws traditionally so that is why our line is smaller and more agile.

I also think run blocking is about attitude. Those bronco teams had some smallish lineman as well IIRC. Which was dictated by their zone scheme and they still ran the ball effectively deus

Really? maroney was an after thought in that offense. It has been said many times the short pass to welker was our running game

My word. I just opened this last page and I haven't seen a mention of Taylor in any post.

Anyways he is a loss for whatever length he is out, but it doesn't hurt us nearly as much as other teams with our team of running backs. Looks like Lawfirm will get his chance now and all the Maroney naysayers will wait for him to break one tackle and declare him better than Lawrence.

Maybe we would like to see Maroney break one tackle for once ;)

BJGE has lots of work to do to show Pats fans he is a guy we can rely on...but then again Maroney can be said in the same sentence.

I believe Sammy Morris and Faulk will be our best bets to make something out of the rushing attack.

Eagle eye I agree and I think taylor is the most reliable back we have not named faulk and this does hurt us in the short term. I have said I would like to see BJGE against a 1st string D early in the year so we can stop speculating on is worth going forward.

I've not said anything of the sort. People like YOU insist on putting your ignorant interpretations on what I said and then acting like I am slandering Peterson or something when I am not doing anything of the sort.

Hell, it would seem that some of the Pats fans in Pennsylvania don't understand what the word CONSISTENT means. Otherwise, you wouldn't be over-reacting like someone just shot your dog or something.

So you honestly think Lomo was the deciding factor for us going 16-0?

explain.

LoMo's numbers and impact are irrelevant as well:

For once in the BB era before it ends I hope we have a game breaking RB,We would simply be unbelievable to stop.

16-0 and the NFL scoring record with LoMo as the #1 running back. The numbers he put up, any attention paid to him.... hell, whether he was alive or just a corpse laid out on the field... all that is irrelevant in regards to the response to the post.

With Maroney as the #1 back, the Patriots were the greatest scoring offense in NFL history and became the first team to ever have a perfect 16-0 regular season. I'm pretty sure that fits the "unbelievable to stop" criteria.

And john salley has more nba championships than karl malone and charles barklely combined so I guess that he is just as relevant to those teams he was on as barkley and malone were to theirs?

That whole premise is seriously flawed but your a smart guy im sure you already know that. This is professional sports deus you dont get points for making roll call.

You basically said AP would not be a great back with the new england patriots because his line is so great. Take it how you wanna take it.

People like ME dont live in a vacuum and you were slandering peterson by comparing him to lawrence maroney who isnt even the best running back on this team let alone the league.
