Ravens not happy with officiating

You obviously didn't watch the Pats-Jets game. Maybe you should do that first before showing you don't know what you are talking about in here and putting words into our mouths.
What?
Doesn't matter if he was waving to his momma... hit the QB in the head and it is 15 yards, period.

And a player can't be frustrated about that?

What exactly did he get it for, anyways?

Harbaugh was yelling and screaming at the official on the sideline. I think he may have even swore at the official..

And Harbaugh continued even AFTER the flag was thrown.. I have to give the official credit for ignoring Harbaugh after the flag because Harbaugh was being an idiot, in all honesty..

Yeah, I remember when suggs smashed into the back of him and knocked the ball out, thank god you guys got a penalty on that one!

Oh... wait ....

If the ball had been out of Brady's hand, and Terrell had lunged at him, then Suggs would have again been flagged for 15 yards irrespective of whether he had launched before Brady threw the ball or not.

He was very verbally abusive... could read his lips, think the official had enough and he seemed to go way over the line...

I'm sorry, there's nothing to complain about. Officiating is officiating and it happens in every game.

On a side note, I was a huge fan of Terrell Suggs, but after that attempted dirtball move today, i have absolutely no respect for him. There is no doubt in my mind that he legitimately made an effort to go after Brady's knee and take him out of the game. I understand it's a contact sport, but to tell me that he fell or had momentum into Brady's knee is a huge crock. Maybe I'm sensative or protective of Brady, but it was a bush league move in my book.

You obviously don't follow the Ravens at all :D.

They always blow this stuff out of proportion, but they do have a basic point.

Ray isn't disputing whether the call was correct or not, he is just frustrated that as a linebacker, he cannot even think about taking a shot at Brady unless Tom has absolutely no clue the rush is coming and still has the ball tucked away. Otherwise, just let Brady throw the ball and hope it isn't caught.

Ed isn't saying that Willis would have reached the first down marker, he is just ticked that the referees brought out the chains for a ball which was a full two yards short of the first down marker upon other poor spots.

I'm not a fan of all these new special rules to protect the QB, but that's where we are. It's not just about Brady either, it's all the QBs out there because that's the face of every franchise.

About the chains, I thought the coach can request a measurement even if it isn't close to a first down, just to see how much is left.

Did we hear it in 07 AFTER THEY LOST?????

4 words for Ravens. SHUT THE FCK UP.

isnt that like a hallmark of the ravens?

either way, both teams got some pretty bad calls, it was quite even

Meh, I guess we should just agree the officials blow, I can think of a certain should-have-been-a-sack in Super Bowl 42.

But, my opinion is we need to protect the QB's below the knee, and what I think it was Simms said was right about the blows to the head, sure the ones that were called were nothing, but you don't want to put the officials in the position where they have to decide which blows to the head are worthy of being called.

Suggs should be suspended

I think that many players think that Brady is especially protected.

Look at it this way - Flacco was being busted up all game, but do you think the officials were nearly as protective of Flacco as they were of Brady?

I know that you're all going to say yes, but I, with my probable bias, do not think so.

I was under the impression that the officials just brought the chains out themselves.

YouTube - Ray Lewis calls officiating 'Embarassing'

Those ticky-tacky calls may be "correct," but you literally cannot touch Tom Brady now without expecting a penalty. The guys are just expressing their frustration at Brady basically being untouchable in every single way, and even as New England fans, I don't think you can deny that.

Ngata reached his hands out to try to bat the ball down, which, by the way, is usually next to the quarterback's head right before being thrown. . .

Ray can expect a fine also. As for the BS about "not touching Tom Brady" you seriously need to stop sniffing Lewis' jock because Brady has been hit numerous times so far this season..

So, I can and DO deny it because Lewis is flat out LYING about Brady being "untouchable."

Ngata hit Brady in the head. Period. That's a 15 yard penalty. Just like the one called on Wright. Which was a correct call as well.

Also, how often do you see a coach being flagged in football? Harbaugh wasn't publicly showing up the referees, but they actually called a personal foul on him anyway.

They called a penalty on Harbaugh because Harbaugh was told to SHUT UP with his complaining there on the sidelines and he kept going and even swore. So, forgive me for not having any sympathy for him.

The spots were pretty bad too.

The bad officiating undoubtedly went both ways, but Baltimore got the shaft more often than New England.

Horsesh!t. The spots were bad? Give me a break. Sorry, but McGahee actually got a GOOD spot. His knee was down before he reached the ball out to where they spotted it for the measurement.

Sorry, but Baltimore's 1st TD happened because they got away with a holding call on Thomas. So, I don't want to hear this garbage about the Pats getting the calls more often than not because its not true.

Sorry, I'll speak louder: You said "The guys are just expressing their frustration at Brady basically being untouchable in every single way, and even as New England fans, I don't think you can deny that."

To which I responded "You obviously didn't watch the Pats-Jets game. Maybe you should do that first before showing you don't know what you are talking about in here and putting words into our mouths."
And a player can't be frustrated about that?
A player can be frustrated at whatever the heck he wants to, but if he's going to wave your arms at the ball (or at his momma) then he has only himself to blame if he smacks the QB's head on the follow through.

so what ....

They called a penalty on Harbaugh because Harbaugh was told to SHUT UP with his complaining there on the sidelines and he kept going and even swore. So, forgive me for not having any sympathy for him.

There was a shot of Harbaugh screaming "bullsh!t call" at the lineman ref.

I agree that officials should be extra-protective below the knees, but in this case, Suggs didn't even touch Brady, and he is claiming that he was blocked downward and just extended his hands in case Brady hadn't thrown the ball. After all, Suggs couldn't see as he was on the ground.

As far as the blows to the head, I actually think that officials should arbitrarily judge whether the contact is incidental, as was the case in two called personal fouls today, because it's becoming ridiculous how defensive players have to be when approaching quarterbacks, and officials already have to arbitrarily judge most things anyway.

I know that you're all going to say yes, but I, with my probable bias, do not think so.

Yes. They were. Flacco was in the process of getting hit all game when he was getting rid of the ball. There is a difference between LEGAL hits and going low the way that Suggs did. And both teams got called for illegal hands to the head. So, please stop with the whining already.

Yes, you are biased. And you chose to listen to Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs instead of looking at what actually happened.. The reality is that they are being whiny losers. They want to deflect the blame for the loss off themselves and onto someone else. They just can't accept that their play and the lack of composure by their coach is what cost them the game.

I was under the impression that the officials just brought the chains out themselves.

The Refs brought the chains out for the measurements (both for the Pats and the Ravens) at the request of the respective coaches. The Refs don't have to grant the request, but they did.
