He wasn't in '04 or '07.

Incorrect.

Nobody's saying he's not cool under pressure, or that he can't take a hit. What is being said is that a good attacking and aggressive defense can and sometimes does make Brady less effective.

I have no idea what you mean by 04 and 07.

Huh? Wha?

As for the last bit, if Scott had said that QBs tend to struggle once you hit them in the mouth, that's one thing, but to say that Brady in particular struggles ("You learn a lot about a guy after you hit them in the mouth") is quite another.

I graduated BU from the School of Engineering...all of my friends that I made there graduated from pre-med,pre-law,arts and sciences etc. Everybody got good to excellent college board scores. Then there was the School of Communication....nitwits,laggards,scraping byers...sub 600 boards...learn to spell cat English survey courses...you too can learn to add two plus two freshman high school math. Ironically, quite a few of these clowns went on to the media and proliferated.

That's who the Dan Patricks are...."look at me in my nice suit ...I learned to lose all vestiges of my accent and now I am everywhere across all media platforms. I can't reason above that of a normal chimpanzee but you will watch me and respect my opinion!!!"

Even worse is the advent of the ex-jock "analyst"...you mean to tell me that a Merrill Hoge took anything above a basket weaving course in coilege? If he were in a normal workforce job,he'd be the 40 year old lifelong office boy, making copies for the big boys until he pensioned out at 15 K a year.

It's an upside down, morons rise to the top society we live in.

Joker, you went to a school and you didn't know that BU's School of Communication was the toughest to get into? The SAT average there is 1400. The best students at BU go to the School of Comm.

That being said, I agree with you on the rest of it. The school was a joke. Absolutely useless classes and a waste of my time. But the students were actually stellar, and the smartest students I ran into at BU. If only they cared more about substantial things than how to market stuff, I would have respected them more. Comm. is one of BU's big academic draws, but once you get in there, it's a joke.

What are you Jet fans still doing here? You played your SB, the real one is played in February...

You know, it's kind of like a DDoS attack with these defenses versus Brady. The truth of the matter is, the Patriots O-line isn't good. It hasn't been good for years. Brady has made them look far, far better than they are by making excellent pre-snap adjustments. However, when facing defenses that keep things in constant motion -- that require too much monitoring all the way up to the snap for even Brady to calmly process -- he will get mentally overloaded, and the O-line will get beaten because it doesn't have the physicality or athleticism to compensate for a breakdown in the protection call.

Look at teams that regularly beat the Ravens defense. It's teams that are more physical, that can adjust for a missed protection/block call by simply being bigger, faster, younger, stronger. Or a QB (or RB) that is just damn hard to take down (give Roethlisberger his due).

The Ravens (Ryan) style defense is the mirror of the Brady style offense. It's extremely intelligent, relies on everyone being in sync with one bark of the field captain, constant pre-snap adjustments and concealment, and a great deal of athleticism to make perfect execution look like near magic. But it all starts with a very beefy line that has the talent and intelligence to react when things go wrong.

The Pats defense isn't their problem this year (it was blatantly the problem through most of 2007 and didn't step up to the plate when it counted in the SB). Other than Brady, and his timing with his receivers, it's entirely, 100% the o-line just not being very good without Brady thinking for them.

I've been on this site longer than you. I didn't know it was illegal to discuss football with rival fans. BTW, good luck making the "real one."

B

I mean, you act like I'm knocking Brady and I'm not. He's the best QB in the league. But even the best QB in the league has a hard time against excellent attacking defenses. I don't see why that's so hard to accept.

That has nothing to do with the Scott quote that said, "I have ONLY seen Brady struggle" followed by "You learn a lot about a guy when you punch him in the mouth."

So, you punch Brady in the mouth and he struggles.

As opposed to other QBs?

LOL

It's well known that Brady has struggled against Rex and Scott more than anyone else. Remember the last time Brady had under 50% comp. percentage? Oh yeah, 07 vs. the Ravens.

All Bart was saying is that when he faces Brady, he ain't that good cause he's always under pressure. Nothing wrong with what he said, and he is in fact correct.

You mean back when Brady threw 2 TDs, 257 yards, 27 points AND won the game in 07?

I wish we could struggle like that ALL THE TIME.

If you call that struggling, then the last 30 odd years must have been hellacious for you as a Jets fan.

You won because of dumbass Scott. He acted like a dumbass. Baltimore should have won. I didn't see Scott acting like a dumbass this Sunday, except for that bogus "kicking" penalty LOL. My point was that Scott knows how to get to Brady, and how to beat a Brady led team.

don't doubt what you say is true, Upstater. My caveat is I attended B.U. between 1969-73. Howard Stern was in this class and lived at the 700 dorm.I'd say a good half of the student body there sold weed and played hippie.

You got a point there.

Those were different times all over the country, at every school.

OK, whatever.

You know who else knows how to beat a Brady-lead team?

The 3-13 Dolphins in 2006. They beat him 24-0 in December.

By the way, NEWSFLASH: The Patriots have not won every single game of the Brady era.

These are also teams that know how to beat Brady: Bills, Dolphins, Steelers, Colts, Raiders, Chargers, Broncos, Giants, Rams, etc.!

When i heard this interview this morning on the radio, i just knew you guys would be on here moaning about it. I just can't believe its made it to 12 pages :D

As opposed to other QBs?

1) There are plenty of example of Brady not playing as well against good defenses. That's normal and to be expected. Usually he wins, lately he hasn't.

2) There was no discussion about other QBs whatsoever, so you're inventing an artificial argument there. He was asked about Brady and he answered about Brady. It's possible and, in my view, probable that this applies to every QB in the league. Especially from an aggressive defensive football player. They hate QBs.

3) If you listen to the interview the amount of nice things he said about Brady greatly out-number the one or two sentences that are arguably being misinterpreted here.

4) I have never witnessed such unabashed Brady fawning on this board. He's a great QB on a great team with a great offense, but he's not perfect. He has mediocre games against certain good defenses. And that's OK.

1. Lately? Lately? This was the first regular season game he's lost since 2006. He also lost in the Super Bowl. Jiminy Crackers, do you expect Brady to win every game? That's ludicrous.

How many times do I have to say this before it gets through: Brady is better than any QB in the league at staying cool in the pocket despite getting hit and blitzed. BETTER THAN ANY OTHER. His stats prove it, his accomplishments prove it. HE HAS PROVEN IT.

Bart Scott said, "You learn about a guy after you hit him in the mouth," and he made that quote DIRECTLY after he said "Brady ONLY Struggles when he sees him."

He actually said NOTHING good about Brady when it comes to his skills. The only thing he said was that Brady was not well regarded when he made the league, he said he was a Michigan fan.

Sounds like you didn't comprehend what you were listening to. All this guy does is insult people.

Wow. Not only does he play LB, but he is also a pseudo-defensive coordinator?
No wonder Rex went to his house at midnight the night free-agency started because he knew he would never have a chance against the Patriots unless he had Bart Scott devising his defensive schemes against Tom Brady.

BTW Baltimore should've won that game as much as the Patriots should've won SB 42................the fact is they didn't.

Typical Jest fan. BLAH BLAH BLAH after week 2.......weep sob weep sob after week 14.

He's lost 2 of the last 3 complete games he's played in that count. And that's OK. It's pretty clear what I meant, but you get all freaked out about it and try and create another non-argument. Pop another blood pressure pill, there.

How many times do I have to say this before it gets through:

Cute way to pretend and posture like you're right. But it won't play.

Brady is better than any QB in the league at staying cool in the pocket despite getting hit and blitzed.

Sure.

BETTER THAN ANY OTHER.

OK

His stats prove it, his accomplishments prove it. HE HAS PROVEN IT.

But, if you look at certain games, he can obviously be slowed down. His stats PROVE IT (LOL MORE CAPS TO MAKE MY POINT LOL A+++ BUYER I LOVE EBAY :ugh:).

Bart Scott said, "You learn about a guy after you hit him in the mouth," and he made that quote DIRECTLY after he said "Brady ONLY Struggles when he sees him."

Brady struggled against the Ravens in '07, and against the Jets in '09.

He actually said NOTHING good about Brady when it comes to his skills.

Listen to the interview again, then. He was very complimentary.

The only thing he said was that Brady was not well regarded when he made the league, he said he was a Michigan fan.

He said Brady is a great quarterback.

Sounds like you didn't comprehend what you were listening to. All this guy does is insult people.

Oh, this is choice. The majority of his conversation about Brady was complimentary, you go off half-****ed like one of those guys on sports radio with the over-reaction, hyperbole, and unrelenting man-love based on an arguably true claim, and draw nonsense conclusions. And ignore Brady's bad games like you can pretend they just don't exist. All the while posturing and calling names and pretending like the guy you are talking to is somehow deficient when in fact the opposite is true. It's wonderfully absurd.

To help guys like me who didn't listen to the piece, can you give some examples of what Scott said that were complimentary of Brady please? Thanks.
