Re: This one's on Brady

I agree entirely. It is important for the "The O-Line was terrible" posters to recognize that even when he had all the time in the world, Brady's throws were terrible. Additionally, when he did face pressure, he threw off of his back foot. There were many cases where there was pressure, Brady threw the ball while backpeddling or off of his back foot only to miss the receiver by a small margin. In these cases, there was space and time to step into his throws, sometimes at the cost of taking a hit, and sometimes it seems as though Tom rushed his throws even when a rusher was still some yards off. In years past, he stands in, makes the good throw, and takes the hit or, when the rusher was still a bit off, the rusher peels off to avoid roughing the passer.

He just isn't there yet mentally. He needs time.

Re: This one's on Brady

I disagree that the o-line was that bad. Brady didn't get sacked once. Yes there was pressure but we knew there was going to be heavy pressure.Brady did have time to throw, but was hurried a lot of them. A lot of the blitzes were picked up. I think that the two back to back delay of game penalties really killed us. It took us out of field goal position. And that is on the QB.

I agree. They need to go with Hoyer next week. Tom's just not getting it done and Hoyer was looking friggin awesome in the pre season.

Re: Penalties - Penalties - Penalties.

How many penalties for the Patriots in 2008 ... there were 57.

Today ... we had 11 ... for 89 yards.

Time of possession was nearly equal.

We had more passing yards 216 to 137

Rushing was low the Jets outgained us 117 - 83 ... but they had 11 more carries.

Penalties ... killed us today. I am surprised by this and I'm sure it will be addressed.

As I've noted before, isn't it interesting that two of the worst penalty games in recent memory for the Patriots were both refereed by the same guy (John Parry)?

Re: This one's on Brady

Definitely not one of his best performances today. Reminded me of Peyton Manning when he came back from his knee injury. He wasn't all there and his timing was off. I expect TB to work out the kinks and this team will figure out a game plan for what seems to be a 'blue print' used against them these last few games.

Re: Penalties - Penalties - Penalties.

Delay of game penalties should never happen. Back to back is just being sloppy.

He was stepping into his throws last week in the 4th QTR.

I thought things would improve this week.

Folks thinking Brady is making "Brady throws" are fooling themselves.

Tom will be fine. I think that the more he plays the better he will be mentally. He ususally tanks a couple a games a year. I fully expect a good game from Tom next week.

Re: This one's on Brady

Brady was horrible today. One of his worst performances ever.

He doesn't look like the same player he was in 2007.

Brady, STs, and Penalties lost us this game

Big returns on the special teams really killed us and the penalties would have burried us. But even then if Brady was on we win.

Sure you can say the Jets pressure caused him to be off but he seemed to have vintage Brady pocket presence but than threw the ball like he was scared. Maybe it was his sore shoulder or something.

In the end there was some positive. The D looked good holidng them to 16 points and really only getting beat on the drives started by huge returns. Edelman looked good except for a couple plays one drop and one play where maybe he should have gone up field instead of cutting off the route. Galloway got into the game a little too.

When we get Welker out on the field with Moss, Edelman and Galloway and Brady gets his arm back in sync we will be tough to defend.

Re: I know I will get slammed for this...but what is with halftime adjustments?

I think we kind of took our foot off the gass after the second quarter. They Jests turned it up and we fell behind. Could someone please explain to me why we don't f****ing run the ball? We only got stopped once. We could have worn them out if we could have sustained a drive in the third quarter. Instead, we're the ones that got worn out.

Okay I'll say it, Brady sucked today

He looked out of sinc. Missed a lot of passes he normally makes. Worst of all, made some pretty bonehead delay of game penalties.

Granted, some of his teammates could have stepped up, but I always expect Brady to be the guy, because he normally is. Today was the worst game he's played in a long time.

On the bright side, I was encouraged by our defense.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying we are done for the season, I'm just saying Brady sucked today.

I think Brady will get better as the season goes along. He's missed a whole year so he needs to get his rythm/timing back again.

Total team loss. No innovative play calling on either side of the ball. Brady was off all day, Moss was virtually non-existent. Why stop running Feddy T? This team needs to improve on both sides of the ball. Right now the Pats are average at best....

That being said, it is week 2 of the season. The Jets HAD to win this game. I give credit to them, right now they are clearly the better team. But I have faith that BB and the staff can improve this team. It does not matter where we are now. If the Pats can consistently improve, they will be ready for a late season push.

Oh come on now. Come in off the ledge.

No fullback and a light offensive line, their not built to grind it....

Re: Okay I'll say it, Brady sucked today

Start Hoyer. Now.

Oh please...

Nothing worse than the whiners who say the "refs stole the game"..

And as for the Colts-Pats game in 07 --- Get over it, dude.
You're making us Pats fans look bad. The Colts won that game. Period.

What a crybaby.

Re: I know I will get slammed for this...but what is with halftime adjustments?

What do you think of the vanilla defense, would you like to see more blitzing?

Yes but than we get roughing the passer calls.

So, to sum up:

D-line can't get it done without Seymour and the D-Coordinator will have to blitz a lot more as a result.

If you think the DL was the problem today, then I can't help you there.

The DL dominated the line of scrimmage.

We haven't had an attacking blitz defense from the secondary/LB's every since Crennel left. Pees likes to lay back.

The Patriots didn't lose 16-9 because Seymour wasn't there. That's hilarious. The DL was a strength in the game.

Light offensive lines are made to run the ball.
