My young daughter has your jersey, Richard. She wears it to school on pro sports day here in Buffalo. Believe me, that's saying something.

We're going to miss your nastiness on the field, and I think we're going to need an enforcer now, because some people are going to try to take advantage of our young guys now that you're not around to keep them straight.

I'll miss the Jose Canseco twitch

Lets see....

Played hard: X
Played smart: X
Played hurt: X

I just get this feeling that most of these posters are living in Bizarro world. They say he was some hardworking leader who put the team first? Yeah and Archie Bunker was the founder of the Rainbow coalition. I dislike the play of Maroney and Slater greatly but I have no respect for Seymour as a man.

nope that would be you....he played thru the knee injury, knew his role as end and was smart about when he could get after the QB, and always brought it extremely hard. He may not have always been perfect especially a few complaints he had mostly about being used as FB but he still played hard and led his teamates in his way.

I will miss him and will always remember him from the great things he has done here. In 01 my father and I went to New Orleans for the big game and wondered into the team hotel 2 nites before the game the players were having a little good by thing with their families because they were going into hiding and wouldn't see them til celebration time and we got to meet a ton of players and met his little cousin who was funny and very bostful of big sey. (he seemed busy so we didn't actually bother him) the cousin heard us say that Sey and he chimed yeah he is my cousin in a proud voice. we did meet some other guys Cox and Willie Mac...and Charles Johnson.

thanks for the titles big sey

Thanks Seymour for the wonderful years you gave us, hope you have a good, but not too good, season in the black hole

All the best to you,Richard Seymour ! (now I have to change my sig, damnit)

If someone already started it I apologize, but I think Seymour's as deserving of his own "Thank You" thread as any other player we've said goodbye to this offseason.

Hard work and Hustle are the things I'll always think of with him... and I'll also remember that there were times when he was playing a HUGE role in a dominant defense, although the stats didn't fully reflect it. Most of us recognized this, though not all did - and it says a lot about a player when he's willing to give up stats for team success.

Thanks Richard. I hope Oakland breaks the bank for you in the next contract! (though once they do, try to tank it in 2010, OK?)

[NOW HOPEFULLY HE SHOWS UP IN OAKLAND AND THE TRADE CAN GO DOWN!]

Amen- thanks Seymour, for being a kickass player over the course of 8 years with the Pats, and proving invaluable in 3 SB wins. The Pats couldn't have done it without him. For all of the personal vendettas that a couple of the more vocal posters on this thread seem to have against him, the fact is that without him we're a significantly worse team over the course of the dynasty.

It's interesting, I think, that fans are so on board with the Pats philosophy of players being willing to give up stats for the good of the team, yet when you have the banner case of a guy who did exactly that, he ends up criminally undervalued. Seymour's not Albert Haynesworth, but he's closer than most of you guys realize.

Now go report to Oakland so that you can crush LT and Rivers twice a year.

Thank you Big Sey for being a beast for our beloved Pats. I watched you get double-teamed and eat up blocks for our LB's to get to the opposing QBs and RBs. Thank you for almost a decade of success and having the best young defensive line in the league. I appreciate you.

Thank You, Mr. Seymour.

When you enter Canton, I hope that you will enter as a Patriot, but I fear that you'll enter like Mike Haynes, or Nick Buoniconti did.

You are Mr. Patriot of the 2000 and those Lombardis in Foxboro are due to your work, as much as any other.

Good Luck.:(

I'd like to Thank him for being part of the renewal of Boston sports, there was a long drought before the Pats started us on the winning path again, and he was on the front line. Thank you Seymour and I wish you the best for whatever team you play, except when it concerns the Pats.:)

Thanks Richard. Ever since you started the second game of your rookie season you have been a force to be reckoned with. O-linemen hated getting matched up opposite of #93 because it meant that they were going to go through hell for four quarters. Voted one of the captains of the defense in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006, you showed you could lead a young d-line which of course included Warren and Wilfork. In an era where every off-field incident is scrutinized to the extreme, Richard has been a top professional and a role model for kids to look up to. Kudos Big Sey and thanks for giving me a username.

I'm ******* bummed about this. :(

Thank You, Mr. Seymour.

Wish you all the Best !

thanks, Dude, and get the big bucks next contract, wherever you're playing. you don't need one more guy who's never laced em up and stepped between the lines on Sunday to tell you you're great, so I won't. just be well...do well...be happy.

Thank you Richard Seymour for stepping on Tarik Glenn's face with your cleats and thus making your departure completely painless for me since I've been looking forward to not having to root for you for years now.

Easily my favorite player over the last 8 years. Huge fan and always will be. I will definatly miss #93. Good luck and god bless.

I could say it differently, but not much better. Thanks for the memories, Richard.
