Re: Koc released!

Probably the most epic draft failure of BB's era.

I don't know. Drafting a QB in the first round has been a 50-50 proposition. I am sure the 3rd round QBs are far, far less. Better to cut bait if he isn't going to work out then do what most teams do and waste a roster spot for him as a #3 QB.

This is why the Pats should sign Jeff Garcia

Earlier posters brought this up but it was hard to find a photo of Carmella with clothes on.

There would be no backup - it would be 1 and 1A0123gisele_article.jpg

Tim Tebow has already entered the draft discussions for the Patriots in 2010 - I think with BBs buddy the Florida HC down there, he probably knows everything about him. - Tebow will probably be a 2nd rounder possibly 3rd depending on his performance this year for the #1 ranked Gators

I am surprised by this move on a couple of fronts:

1. 3rd rounders don't get released on the basis of a couple of bad preseason games. O'Connell must have looked very poor in practice, had trouble digesting the Patriots playbook, or had an off the field issue.

2. Not being able to get a pick from Denver for O'Connell. McDaniels worked out O'Connell before the draft and loved him and I'd think he'd want him in Denver for the price of a 7th rounder in 2010 or 2011. I may be completely wrong, but I think the lack of interest of Denver signals that O'Connell wasn't very impressive in practice last year either. If that hypothesis is correct, I have to wonder why the Patriots didn't go after another QB option when they failed to land Patrick Ramsey.

pure speculation......how would anyone know that BB was having draft discussions with anyone about 2010.....this is ludicrous.
What's your source?

How about Kitna? If we're just looking for a backup that can come in and win a game?

No idea on contract, but it couldn't be much.

I think Kevin Faulk has played some QB. Then we could do a wildcat and everything.

how do you post a picture????????????
type "img" inside [] at the start of the url and "/img" inside [] after the url.

Or download to your computer and use the paperclip emblem at the top of the posting window.

I never mentioned there was any source..pure speculation and guess pal, nothing more

I watched a few Gators games and Tebow seems to me to be the type of player BB could use....The draft is a long way off yet, everyone has their Binky - He will be mine because we certainly will be looking at QBs next year in the draft early or late but for sure.

You are NOT missing anything. Not ONE team in the league was willing to offer a 7th for O'Connell.

You've got to suck pretty bad if nobody wants to give at least a 7th for you. There's got to be some inside info on KOC that we've yet to learn.

Is there any report of an injury? Richardson was waived and given an injury settlement. :confused2:

Of course I join the rest pondering an off-field/behind the NEP wall issue(s).

I guess it takes BB to help make mgteich look like a genius. :p

Re: Koc released!

Why would he sign with our practice squad? If some team cut me and tossed my nice salary into the toilet, you think I'd help them out by agreeing to practice with them for $5000 a week? I'd sign with anyone else BUT them.

Actually I would love to pratice with the pats for $5000 a week. LOL Anyway Koc was cut because he wasnt improving during practice or his knowledge of the play book wasnt improving. Th difference between him and cassel is that the Bill knew he could play because he improved during practice.

yiou're backpeddling, skippy. You "reported" that there already had been discussions about the Patriots drafting Tim Tebow.
If these "discussions" exist only between your left brain and your right ball........please keep them to yourself,,they don't enhance the "actual" football talk on this board.

I say we dont waste trying to get a backup quarterback.

Can everyone agree if Tom Brady were to go down AGAIN, superbowl dreams die? So I say, waste of time..

Everyone thought they were dead last year, too, and were it not for all the injuries on D, I'm not sure they would have been.

This was a bit surprising. I know KOC has struggled, but it's only his second year. Most QBs take a few years to develop. Drew Brees struggled for 3 years before making a huge mark in year 4.

BB knows this too, so there must be something more to this. KOC worked out of the shotgun in college, and he needed to develop his footwork and timing under center, but he never seemed comfortable. And he didn't really get much better from last year to this year.

Judging by KOC's big smile on the sidelines after that last game, I'm guessing he lacked the passion BB wanted in a QB. Or maybe the work ethic sucked, judging by the lack of progress. Just speculating, but I think it must have been something mental/psychological that made BB give up so quickly.

Well, Cassel turned out to be pretty good. I still believe we could have beat the Steelers in the divisional and then hosted the Ravens in the AFCCG...

but you can blame Brett Favre for that
