I was going between Bodden and Chung. I picked Bodden. I was watching full game replays of last seasons games and you just notice how quite a bit of our defensive woes on 3rd down game to either too much padding to the WRs and too little hard hitting in the secondary, also due to our lack of good defensive positioning. We were losing speed all around the team and any wrong foot got punished because we didn't have the speed to recover. I'm excited about Chung because hopefully his hard hitting play will help fill #37, but I believe Bodden is the biggest contributor because he will play hard pressed against the WR in man, and he's got the pace to keep up with the top WRs. If we shut down half the field with 1 guy alone, then it makes life a helluva lot easier (like Samuel, Law of past).

As for Taylor, Galloway/any offensive toy - all we need is Brady healthy. Brady, Moss and Welker together are all you need to score points, simple as.

Blader.

It just occurred to me that he Woods, in fact, is not listed. Why? OP, why not list Pierre Woods? That would have occurred to me before Paris Lenon, actually.

He did ask about new Patriots players.

Since Crable was on IR, I'd say the list is consistent, anyway.

Not to derail the thread too much, but what the heck happened to Deltha O'Neal? He was a pretty good corner early on in his career.

Some players age quicker and slow down faster - Simply some retire at 29 because they can't do it anymore,Some stay till 40 because they feel they still have it and some simply are sadly tossed around the league from team to team until no one calls them up anymore.

I hear you. I decline for him started really quickly.

Deltha really only had about 2 quality NFL seasons, and he got to the Pro Bowl in both of them. He was, for the most part, such a poor cornerback that Shanahan had him trying wide receiver to keep him on the team.

And those ProBowls were because of Int totals, not complete plays as a corner, and we all know there is a big difference there.

That is a very tough list. I have to go with either Springs or Bodden since I'm guessing they'll be the starters. I'm surprised Springs is getting so little attention, but I guess it's Bodden's one year contract.

fred taylor. most touches, consistent player. good running game will make it difficult to key vs pass. yeah.

I think this is precisely why I also went with Taylor as my choice.

No offense to any of the other guys, but out of the top vote getters, those thinking that Taylor's going to get enough reps at RB given all the bodies we have there must be expecting a rash of injuries.

Let's hope not.

Comparing DB depth - especially CB - from last year to this year, you see a ton of new faces. I don't think we're returning anyone with more than 4 starts under their belt. So I think it's got to be one of the DBs - probably Bodden.

Tossup, Taylor and Bodden, edge to Taylor.

Especially considering how god-awful taylor was last year.

Respect. His statistics took a hit last season because Jacksonville had begun to phase him out of the offense predominantly b/c they regard Jones-Drew as the future at RB. I don't think it was because Taylor doesn't have football left in him. A lot of the guys we've gotten in FA were guys whose teams thought they didn't have anything left. We all should know that very well, perhaps better than any other teams' fans (I won't compile the list:D). Belichick has made an art out of signing castoffs and turning them into productive players, if not more.
