Rodney Harrison Headed to TV?

Hard to imagine a Pats team without him on it (even though he's been missing because of injuries a lot). He would be a huge improvement over Bettis as a commentator though.

Good. We need more pro-Patriot guys on TV.

Rodney is supposed to decide by today to play another season or retire. Haven't heard anything yet. Who do you think will break this decision? Reiss? PFT? NFLN?

Maybe he won't come to a firm conclusion today and the decision will get dragged on longer?

As much as I love having Rodney in the Patriot's secondary, I am pretty comfortable with what we have back there now with our off season additions to the secondary. With the hard hitting way Rodney played and his age getting up there, it would be hard I think to get through another season uninjured. Heck....its hard to play in the NFL for a season and get through safe and sound.

He has absolutely nothing left to prove to any of the Patriot fans, Patriot players, or himself. I hope the guy steps away while he is still in pretty good shape. He has his rings and the respect of all of us Patriot fans who have had the pleasure of watching him rack up the tackles and throw down the disrespect card. A great Patriot who will be missed if he is gone.

Given that Rodney set June 1 as the date when he would announce whether he is re-joining the Pats, I'd guess that the odds of his return got a lot longer without that announcement today. The decision by the Pats to tap a safety with their top pick in the draft, and to pick up another safety in free agency only reinforce that outlook.

He was a special player here. And one of those guys who seemed to have two completely different personalities, depending upon which side of the chalk stripe he was on. Respectful, openly Christian, thoughtful, decent off the field; vicious and hostile on the field.

Yes. His body is no longer up to the task of playing, unless he plans on doing a Seau if the team needs it, which I doubt.

He's going to TV like Plax B. is, unfortunately, going to jail. There. I learned to spell it.

God I love Rodney and he will be sorely missed........but I just have a picture of him pile-driving Olberman on the set of that pregame show and it somehow makes it all worth it.

The Patriots do need to find that guy that gets under the skin of the other team. Rodney was easily the best player in Patriot's History for pissing off the other team and throwing them off their game.

Apparently the Pats and Rodney have set up a conference call with the media for tomorrow (Wednesday, June 3rd.) I would assume that signals he will officially be retiring; I don't know what else they would set up a conference call for.

Karen Guregian said:
Former Pats safety Rodney Harrison wrote in a text message last night that he will answer questions about his future tomorrow during a conference call set up by the Patriots.

Harrison, currently a free agent, targeted yesterday as the day to make a decision about returning for a 16th season or retire.

The prevailing sentiment has been that Harrison would retire and pursue a broadcast career. During Super Bowl week, Harrison said if he ultimately made the decision to retire, it would be final.

Just adding my voice to prevailing opinion. I have a great deal of respect for Rodney, not only as a player, but also as a man. If he decides his playing days are over, I will be delighted to watch him as an analyst. He is a straight shooter and a smart guy.

A true Pats warrior.

We owe Rodney many thanks and can ask of him nothing. That dude did everything he could to win. A truly amazing, un-mique athlete.

I would do almost anything for that mofo. If I saw him in a restaurannt, he would pay for nothing, that's for sure.

A total memsch that I would do almost anything for.

Thanks for being a true Pats soldier Rodney. Best of luck with everything. You are the definition of a PATRIOT.

Edit- crap, I"m drunk. Sorry fellers.
