OT: iPhone & iPod Touch users

Windows Mobile 6 users should try Skyfire. It caches the site you're going to locally on their server. IOW it does all the work and sends you the cached web page. WEEI comes up as the full site. This board works great. I zoom in to select a message. When the text comes up it doesn't require side scrolling. I just thumb down to follow the text which is always centered and a good readable size. The interface is a bit clumsy until you get used to it. Skyfire is free.
Skyfire: Free mobile browser. The PC web on your phone. Real fast.

Guess it's time to dump my old pager and look into these 'cell phone' things that seem to be all the rage. Could have sworn it was a flash in the pan.

By the way, I still accept smoke signals within a 20 mile radius.

But being able to check e-mail, Tweet, all from this little device is amazing. Granted I have to be within wifi distance to use it, but I'll be getting an Iphone as soon as my contract is up. Using this thing convinced me, although the fact it's no longer $499 certainly helps

Get a refurb 8 gb for $99 or a 16 gb for $149...The next version of the IPhone is rumored to be slated for this summer.

I bought an iphone in the winter. i still had about 15 months on my Verizon contract. i went on this crazy run in my ffl league where i had to win the last 4 weeks in a row (and a tie breaker) to make the playoffs.... and i ended up getting in and finishing 2nd in the super bowl. So i took the money and bought the 16 GB White Iphone and the thing is just badass.

I don't regret paying the 300 for the phone or canceling 15 months of verizon service one bit. it was sweet being able to do all of it with FFL money.

Ian, is there a site where we could get a peek at what an iPhone version of the board might look like? Some adaptations work well (like Amazon), others just make matters worse by making you load many more tiny pages.

I only have one cell phone and my wife has it most of the time. So I have no idea what all this is about but it's sounds like a good idea for those who do have it.

Who knows, someone may bump into me an knock all my groceries on the ground while posting on Patsfans!

I'm not sure if its the same ap or not but there's a lot of folks out there with Windows Mobile browser phones - some website automatically detect that you're on a mobile browser and provide a much simpler layout - less graphics etc. - but all the information.

If Patsfans did that it would be a big plus and the page wouldn't take so long to load.

No, all I've seen are screenshots, but it's definitely readable and the interface seems very clean. This will work on all vBulletin boards, provided that the site owner pays the license fee and installs it.

The main site will have a mobile version by the time the season starts. If this goes through I'll implement it on the board so the board has a mobile version at least for the Iphone, and I'll see if I can find something else for the others.

Iphone....so not the Ipod touch?? Just curious..as I MIGHT be getting one...or maybe the other... Just curious if any others have a Kindle?? My wife does and I have gone onto the site a few times..works quite well....

Sorry - Iphone and Ipod Touch. And there is a free Kindle app for that, so you can fill that need with either device. I have it installed and it works great. Plus you can sample the first chapter of a book before deciding if it's worth buying (and the Kindle version is cheaper than the actual book).
