ESPN's John Clayton Mentions Patriots as Possibility for Vick

The reason why I know Vick would never be a Patriot was because I remember one of the Boston sports writers (I think Michael Holley) talk about how when the Pats players scouted him in Atlanta for a game that they all laughed at how he ran the same 4 plays over and over again and how he couldn't read defenses and took off at a second's notice. Doesn't sound anything like a player Belichick would be interested in.

I've said elsewhere that I don't think the Patriots will sign him. I just find it amusing that people are losing their minds over him the same way the did over Moss.

I've been surprised at how many people are pulling a Randy Moss on this one, but I guess I shouldn't have been.

Yep. The antipathy is blinding. Michael Vick running a wildcat as a situational change of pace would be very interesting...

No thanks. Not interested, yes he is athletic, but seriously, even as a back up he is a below average QB who can run. Unless this is Madden football, I will pass.

I'm a fan of Mike Vick the player, and hope he really has learned from his prison stint, and that a team gives him a chance. I'm not convinced the Pats is a likely destination, but for footballing reason rather than the other baggage.

Ive been a Mike Vick fan since his days at VaTech. I know he has a lot of haters here but how can you not think he wouldn't help the team? Vick is the definition of athlete. He is also the definition of naive, He thought he wouldn't get caught and I think he learned his lesson in Prison. People say he should have to sit out a year, he as already sat out two years what more do you want from him? I honestly believe right now Vick would make a great backup QB and he would also add another dimension in the wildcat and a possible returner. If all of that fails why not turn him into a wide out? He would bring great versatility and athleticism to our team hell BB could probably turn him into a DB if he wanted too. And to Sean...Really?

Yes really... How do you know he is athlete really??? He has done jack in 2 years, and how bout let him see what he does when he doesnt have millions to blow to kill dogs..Great Back up QB???? I think your drinking out of the same water bottle Vick is drinking, You insaine.. I dont want this guy near the Patriots, I will not support it , and I feel pretty confident, Belichick or Kraft would not be on board.. Its just insaine Espn , you, and others think he could just walk right back in the leauge and get paid for being a Ass.. That is what is wrong with society, and if by some slim remote chance the Pats sign him, Im done.. For the parts Ian said, we will have some monday morning Qb's like yourself, when they see Brady play bad , put vick in .. This whole Wildcat situation stuff is crap.. And others are just personal, for what he did to animals, and I know some people dont like Dogs, that is there progative but was cruel, and inhuman... He is a thug, a overated athlete , and I do agree he deserves a chance, in a year after he proves he could survive in a normal enviroment. .. But I dont want to give a thug like that a shot on a roster where he takes the place of a hard working guy for example , Ray Ventrone.. Nuff said, I dont want him near the pats

Vick is a scrambler and a terrible passer. Maybe he has the athleticism to avoid the rush and escape the pocket, but that's it. I'd take O'Connell 100x over before I would even chance it with Vick. Do you seriously want the media horde, criticism, and other nonsense that comes with the Vick brigade? No thanks, I'll pass.

Many have speculated that Belichick would like to utilize his own version of the Wildcat offense and if that is indeed true, who better to run it than Michael Vick. That's exactly the type of offense needed to unlock Vick's full potential. Who better to pull that off than Belichick. Having said that, don't think for a 2nd that this has anything to do with Brady. Any use of the Wildcat would be limited to a few plays per week and as such, Vick would only be considered if he came cheap. But at the right price, yeah, I can totally see Belichick giving him a look.

I predict he goes and plays for the Rat in Cleveland. The Dog Pound will love him.

How do I know he is an athlete? LMAO, I am not going to dignify that with a response. He was voted to the pro bowl three times as a starting QB, I think he would be ok as a backup QB. Yeah I think he could walk right back into the league, I think its extremists like yourself that take crap too far, normal environment??? No football player lives in a normal environment. They are celebrities and they live under a microscope. If a young Teddy Bruschi did the same thing I doubt that you would react in the same manner calling him a thug. I am a Christian and I believe in forgiveness and second chances. I am also a dog owner and think that what he did was disgusting but I honestly believe that he has learned his lesson and so has Tony Dungy...Tony Dungy: Michael Vick wants second chance when he's out of prison - ESPN
Mike Vick is just like many other young men who made mistakes in his life and he just wants a second chance. He spent time in jail and "has paid his debt to society". I think you and many others need to get off their high horses and look at things from a different perspective, I don't mean to offend anybody by this but unless you are a young black male with a lot of money and you grew up in the south you cannot make a fair and honest judgement on Vick.

Again let him sit a year as, and he proves he is a model citizen, go to canada play football. If he can thrive a whole year with out his so called posse , then Im all for it.. I think you need to talk to some peta members if we are on our high horses.. I do think its pretty ridicoulous , people like yourself , espn and others feel he should just walk on the football field .. No I dont Im sorry , sit another year where if you can avoid the pitfalls that you could not avoid when you had everything , and pissed it all away, but if he can, then come back, but I say no sooner than a year.. He is a overated Qb. dont give me that pro bowl crap.. I guess you must have saw some of those prison games he played in.. I dont care about Tony Dungy, he is not the comish.. Again sit a year, prove yourself, and then come back..

They think Vick will come here because he will help us in both defending the wildcat, and give us an option for our own wildcat. All this is is a stab in the dark. The Wildcat formation was big in 2008 but it was slowed down pretty successfully by many teams, including us, later in the year. We will not need Vick to help us learn how to defend it.

Well this thread went south just in the time it took me to drive home from work. Needless to say I'll be closing it.
