Interesting McKenzie Stat

Tyrone's stats as a whole are pretty impressive but the one that caught my eye was PBU's-Passes broken up.

It seems Tyrone was matched up against a TE or RB quite often and did his job real well.

No LB's of recognition in the draft come close to him in that stat.

It seems he had none at Michigan State as a freshman.

So that's between 2 schools.

Add to that a couple of INT's too.



As an edit....Nic Harris of Oklahoma had an astounding 21 PBU's and 7 INT's. Almost seems as if the Sooners were playing him in an LB/safety position.

He was a safety. He's only converting to LB in the pros. Too small for the inside, though, especially in the 34. He should do well as a weakside 'backer in a few years. He's just as fast going backward as forward, and if not for his lack of speed (for a safety; he's just fine for a LB), he would have been one of the more intriguing guys in the draft. I think if he's a quarter of a second faster, we take him for that LB/SS role that BB likes to play around with.

Mckenzie projects to ILB for us. Hopefully he can develop into a coverage linebacker with that kind of ability. And hopefully he turns out to be a better one than Alexander...

Nothing like setting the bar really high !!

Great post, thanks for the information. With his tackling ability, and potential coverage ability, looks like a solid pick. If he can pick up the D (again, BB appreciates his quick learning skills as seen by the multiple programs he's played in and production at each) then he is at a minimum in the rotation.

I think by game 8 McKenzie will have replaced Guyton on the depth chart, if not sooner. When BB keeps talking about a player's intelligence and maturity you know he is very impressed with him.
