Brace - Butler picks

Probably a (very) dumb question, but is there any reason whatsoever that the Pats would pick Brace then Butler rather than vice versa w/their back to back picks? There's no salary implication, is there? Maybe just alphabetical?

Bill thinks Butler is the better Athlete, but picked Brace first so Butler would have a chip on his shoulder in camp and prove to him he should have been picked first.

Or, it could be that Bill has a dart board with names on it and then asks Mr. Kraft to throw the dart and see where it lands.

Or, perhaps they were having a conversation with Tom in the War Room and the NFL official heard Knee Brace and thought that was their pick.

Or, Perhaps.....ah nevermind.

It doesnt matter, it was a decision of probably flipping a coin at that point>

You never know what trade offer you might receive after the first pick. Maybe if they had picked Butler first someone would have offered a trade-up and they would have never drafted Brace. So, I do believe that they valued Brace higher because, on some level, they could have lost Butler if a great trade offer had come in.

The way I look at it, we traded up to get Butler, since we already (probably) had the pick to get Brace. I also like the idea of taking Brace to make it harder for all these other 3-4 teams to plug the middle.

It could have something to do with the players agent and if one is easier to work with then another. In reality it probably was just how they were valued on the Pats board.
