What's next for 3rd round?

Well said:)

There is so much truth to what you just said but only Sebastian Vollmer had me scraching my head but the trade downs really did not as we got three great players. Only BB has looked at his tape and graded him as a guy who would fit but I have to do more homework on this guy as I though he was a total fifth round guy.

As soon as I have ten posts I'll put up a youtube link for Volmer. Lol I have to wait for ten posts and I don't want to post trash like this. :)

Gotta get.....

#1 Shonn Greene, RB

#2 TE's Ingram, Casey or even pascoe

#3 DE Jarron Gilbert, Michael Johnson

I would be happy with a WR that ha slipped through the cracks as well.

But Shonn Greene...First Priority!

I will search utube for Volmer but I do have a friend who is still close with the cougars I think. Facebook is a good tool for that stuff sometimes.

Okay, once again the Belichick LB bane foils the best laid plans of mice and draftniks. To the question of Day Two pass rushers:

As pass rushers, Michael Johnson and Lawrence Sidbury are the most athletic and dangerous pass "rushers." Johnson has a big hole in his run game and isn't as physical as we might like. Sidbury has a big hole playing in space and played at a the old 1-AA level.

There's some depth guys who can be added to the competition mix like Stryker Sulak, Henry Melton, Pierre Walters, Brandon Long, and Will Davis.

All my favorite ILBs are still available, so I won't mention any just to avoid that darned Belichick LB bane. :enranged:

Michael Johnson is an underachiever with high athleticism/measurables and Sidbury doesn't look like he plays well enough in space to transition to 3-4 OLB though he has good straight line speed and size. There's a good chance that the Pats select none of them.

The Pats might select an ILB in the 3rd or 4th round but they'd need to trade back to acquire a 4th round pick (say a 2009 3rd for a 2009 4th and 2010 3rd).

Pats 3rd round picks:

#73 (9th)
#83 (19th)
#89 (25th)
#97 (33rd COMP/UNTRADEABLE)

I would like them to get a 2010 2nd somewhere, two 2010 seconds would be even lovelier. The only two things I'm certain of is that 1) BB will draft a tight end and 2) there will be more WTF pick reactions on Day 2! That's gonna be hilarious to watch! :D

Would like: Lang, Mike Thomas, and Casey. Would be thrilled to pick up Casey!

I'd like to get Jarron Gilbert or Jason Williams. If we're planning for life without Maroney, then grab me a Greene or a Jennings. Getting a punter to oust Hanson would be GRAVY!! Oh and we're taking a tight end but I don't know who yet. :D

I like Greene, Casey and Johnson. Also, even though Zack Follett is projected to go in the 4th-6th rounds, i'd pull the trigger with a 3rd rounder to get him...he's a beast! lol

How about a C/G prospect, an ILB and a TE..... Obviously OLB this year isn't gonna materialize.........

I picked out 12 guys I like for round 3 -- four picks for each slot:

3a. Jarron Gilbert, Shonn Greene, Cornelius Ingram, Lawrence Sidbury;
3b. Michael Johnson, Shawn Nelson, Louis Murphy, D.J. Moore;
3c. Coye Francies, Duke Robinson, Kraig Urbik, Jasper Brinkley;
3d. Daniel Ellerbee, Darry Beckwith, James Casey, Jared Cook;

I think Michael Johnson is a good pick here even if he can't play the run at all. You sub him in on third down to rush the passer, then have Woods play first and second down.

The draft right now is rich in tight ends, interior linemen, 3-4 inside backers and 4-3 Sams, and late-round receivers. I see a TON of very solid wideouts still being there even after round three. Gotta like Jarrett Dillard, Kenny McKinley, Mike Thomas, and Deon Butler -- guys with huge production and good measurables (only Dillard didn't run well in the 40, but he had a great vertical and good shuttle times) and they're just sitting there for us to take. Any one of those guys could really help us. Thomas in particular could do some great things for us; he's tiny, but he's got great speed, runs great on screens, and returns kicks (better him than Darius Butler, who I want to stay healthy).

The remaining linebackers don't give me wood at all. But I'd bet BB finds a way to grab Julius Williams. Beyond him, who knows. Frantz Joseph and Tyrone McKenzie are there. I see him more looking at Moise Fokou late (or as an UDFA) or Stanley Arnoux. Exciting day tomorrow, anyway.

Jarron Gilbert:

I worry that he won't make it past KC, but the Chiefs could be looking at filling the TE or OL position with Tyson Jackson being picked at 3. The Browns could try to trade up, but with what ammo? Denver has two fourth round picks to bargin with and failed to address the defensive line IMO.

Either Franz Joseph or Jasper Brinkely:

Just when you think they need to take a linebacker, the Patriots will disappoint you 9 out of 10 times by taking everything BUT a linebacker. In either case, I can't see these guys making it to the Pat's second pick in the third round. I can wish though.

Any of the following: James Casey, Jared Cook, or Shawn Nelson.

Don't have much interest in any other prospects in round three or four, but I'm intrigued about Donald Washington (CB) and Greg Toler (CB) in the later rounds.

EDIT: And I think Johnny Knox is the best WR prospect in this entired draft considering where he could be drafted.

Vollmer looks like the freaking Hulk at 6-8 315 with jump through the roof athleticism.
I like that description, and it looks accurate.

Good shout. A combination of some of those would be great with top priorities IMO being OG and ILB

All of which means we wont pick any of them:D
