Most people will notice that there are no QB’s in the top twenty according to these four gentlemen. Last year they only had one listed and he did well: Matt Ryan. I asked them to let me know why none of the QB’s made there top twenty, specifically Stafford and Sanchez and I selected one each for them.

As a Bills fan its interesting to see Pettigrew, Maybin and Ayers in the top 10

I really think SCOUTS love Pettigrew...I believe fans become too enamored with a field stretching TE opposed to a 5 tool player like Pettigrew

I would put 50 bucks on those evaluations being from a 4-3, persuit based defense.

I think Maybin will not be drafted nearly that high. In fact I don't believe he should go in the 1st round! He's a project who will need several years to be NFL ready.

i think you're carrazzy ! have you even seen him play or are you a draft "guru" hooked on the measurables ?

He could be a good player for a 4-3 team. He would be a bad fit for the Patriot 3-4.

I'm going off game tape as well as combine but mostly scouting reports. He's under sized, weak laterally and lacks the strength to take on blocks.

he reminds me of a young jason taylor when he was at miami of ohio or akron or toledo or wherever. who are we looking to sign ?

Taylor went to Akron and he is taller by two or three inch's. Maybin right now for us would only be a pass rusher and not a three down OLB IMO. He is only 20 and has upside but we are built for the SB right now and expect more production our of our top pick if it is at OLB. He is just awful against the run but does get to the QB which is why people have him so high. He did gain a lot of weight in a short period of time and it showed at the Combine. His pro day was much better but coming from experience a guy who gains that much weight is more injury prone the next season.

Some seem to be rating all players as patriot players. That's fine, but mocks can't be done that way, no can the talent or future of a player reasonably be assessed in that manner.

Maybin is likely a top 16 player as a 4-3 DE. He is well worth the pick for a 4-3 team with such a need.

taylor may be an inch taller or two taller but my point was that their style of play is similar. do you disagree ? they are both long and lean and i'm pretty sure maybin's faster. being from a small school taylor was a 3/4 rd. pick. level of competition increases your value. that's the big 10 v. the mac. i'd love to have them both.

I think that the two inch difference and reach advantage goes to Taylor but I do see similarities between the two. But that kinda makes my point as Taylor has been a 4-3 DE for many years in the league and one of the best. Maybin is going to have to move to OLB for us in our system and from my knowledge Taylor has never excelled as an OLB.

Taylor uses those long arms to his advantage in the running game and stacking up OT but this will take some time with Maybin. He is so young just picture 21 y/o Maybin trying to stack up Joe Thomas or Flozell Adams next year. I find that he looks very stiff when he was doing the conversion drills at the combine and Jarron Gilbert (290lbs) the DT - DE ran a faster 40 time then he did.

I really think this kid is going to make a great 4-3 DE and someone will take this kid in the top 20 IMO. He has a great upside where he is young and had a great senior year. I just do not see him playing well as an OLB in anyones 3-4 system but he does get to the QB and that is what counts.

Look at this picture he looks like a WR.

They just did a piece on Aaron Maybin on NFL Path to the draft so I hope they put a clip up soon on NFL.com. They brought up many points that have been brought up in this thread.

He was way closer then I was last year in my mock:)

He got the Harvey pick almost right which was a reach in my books last year and he had Talib too high. I loved his write up on Mayo though:

He has a high motor similar to Lions LB Ernie Sims. He is very smart and loves to practice. In fact, twice this past season in Knoxville he was not allowed to hit in practice because he injured his teammates. Scouts Take: “When you interview that young man, his staff or anyone connected to him you hear what the tape shows. He loves football and will only get better. I think that his upside is huge for more than one reason. He is a great kid in the class room as far as studying and learning and his passion for football was very obvious in interviews.”
