Who plays the slot if Welker gets dinged?

He didn't do well with Andre Davis who I felt would do well. Gaffney wasn't an instant hit and I'm not sure if he ever fully connected with Stallworth. There was a link to an article on here a short time ago explaining how Brady takes things a step further with his receivers. Once that level of communication is established things fall into place much easier.

The connection with Gaffney was as quick as possible for a WR that we picked up off the streets. Gaffney didnt truley start until the last 4 games in '06 and right after those games the Brady to Gaffney threat lit it up in the playoffs.

And the reason I think Brady didnt use Stallworth to his full potential is because he had studs like Moss and Welker to throw who took up most of his time. Even then 46-697-3 is not too shabby at all.

I believe that if the WR is competent enough Brady will not have a problem connecting with him.
