TRADES:
Tampa Bay>Cleveland-#50 and #81 For Browns TE K.Winslow
The Browns felt they knew something the Bucs did not and they ain’t tellin’. Winslow is a talent but…... Perhaps Mangini can turn one of these top choices into a “new and improved” Winslow like a Cook, Coffman or Ingram without the drama.

Detroit>N.E-#33 and #82 for first pick in round one (#23).The Lions jump back in to get QB Freeman. Round Two belongs to the Pats.

Jacksonville>Chicago #8 (1st) For Chicago round one #18 and round three #49.The playmaking receiver the Bears have needed. Before surgery, Crabtree was rated the best player in the draft by some.

Philadelphia>N.E.
- WR G.Lewis and 2010 Eagles 7th for N.E. 2009 Fifth round. A yawner…Lewis is a number four or five on the Eagles depth chart who have no WRs. Does he jump to number three in New England? Oh well! His salary and CAP is cheap.

I won't knock your mock because everybody has an opinion and they are fun to do but Rey Maualuga won't last until pick 33. Don't follow the media when they move people all around. They do it to gain hits and keep changing them up so people will flock to read and comment on their mocks. They do this because they need to fill the month long space between the All-Star Bowl games, combine and the draft. After the USC Pro-Day they will rate Rey around 16 or higher and talk about how it's because of his Pro-Day and he's healthy but in reality he never really fell that far. They do this to alot of players every year. Don't by into the media hoax.

Good mock though.

Interesting and reasonable trade projections, but I'd say there's a much better chance that Jarron Gilbert is gone by #34 than that he lasts to #82.

Good point cousin, but it occurs to some that these scores are leaked by none other than opposing team management (Say Bill, you shouldn't draft that guy. He is really stupid!). Those scores are not supposed to be released. Me thinks that some teams are up to mischief. These aren't for public record. What if those scores are B.S.?

Wilfork, Hobbs and a few others on our team had bad scores (thanks DB). Are they dumb, or do they just test bad? Look at Watson. His Wonderlic rang the bell and yet it did not translate to make him a great TE.Wilfork=All Pro, Watson= ?

I'm just saying. I don't think BB drops a guy because of Wonderlic scores. Delmas is scheduled to visit. That will tell. I think they have already talked to Rey. Actually I think they want William Moore, but it didn't fall right here. This Mock means nothing but a viewpoint. Not every player I picked for the Pats is my binkie. It just worked out with these.

You know what would be funny? If the people who leak these test scores and media members who print these in the paper with malice in their hearts, had to go into a film room and study football schemes and they were scored on their actual knowledge of what their reporting on.

Because the irony of these scores is this: Dan Marino I believe scored a 12 and yet he can retire from football and become a member of the media but how many media members and journalists retire from writing and strap on the football uniform?

Most of these players don't score well because they don't take it seriously because all they are training for and consentrating on are football related activities.
That's why a career back-up QB could score a high score of a 40 and yet can hardly throw a 10 yard out pass and hit the WRer on the numbers.

Didnt Merriweather have a poor wonderlic score

Im not sold on it .. just because you dont know your percentages or the next number in a sequence means squat when it comes to football smarts and natural instinct .. it can be a guide but not the only one

Im sure BB and the FO have their own X's and O's test they give guys they work out

I like the draft and I think theres as mcuh chance of trading down from #23 as anything else. I would probably take Beatty at #23 though

Makes as much sense as any other mock.....

Lotta work and effort DW.....

I can't wait for draft week end.

DW - Overall, a much better effort than your first go around.

Seattle isn't going to touch Andre Smith. I'd be surpried if Smith gets taken in the 1st round at all.

The Green Bay picks don't make sense. You have them taking 2 conversion projects in Jackson and Barwin when they already have 2 conversion projects in Kampman and Montgomery.

I don't think that New England would make the trade with Detroit because they'd be giving up a full year of eligibility on a contract. Also, one of the big issues over Michel Johnson is whether he's got the attitude to play football. That, in and of itself, will keep him from being a Patriot. I know a lot of people like James Casey, but I don't see the Pats using a draft pick this year on a TE when they've got cheap options on the team already behind Baker. I question people saying the Pats will take Andre Brown. There really isn't a spot on the team for him. Not with Morris, Taylor, Faulk, and Maroney already there. Brown also has some concerns because of the Lisfranc injury he suffered.

Why would Dallas take Ron Brace when they have very good depth at NT and DE already?

I suggest you go look at the wonderlic test scores that I posted in the other thread. There are plenty of current Patriots whose scores are in the teens. That includes Wilfork, Warren and Meriweather.

How many LB's have low scores? I'm guessing Tedy, AD, Vrabel aren't among the teens, due to the decisions they have to make.

True in its essence, but as far as I know Meriweather is one of the few Pats whose score has never leaked.

In terms of position-specific requirements, I'll toss out that of the five rookie LBs on the roster (Mayo, Guyton, Crable, Redd, Craig), the two ILBs scored the highest. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.

Interesting that you have Andre Smith moving right out of the first round. With BB connection with Nick Saban do you think the Pats may take this kid at #34. From the few games that I watched this kid was the real deal to me until the crap show he put on since Jan.

I have a good buddy of mine and he was talking about Dallas improving their NT. I said to him that Ratliff was like a 6 or 7th rounder who must be coming cheep. I do know that they lost Tank but I think that WR might have been a better option but the way your draft worked out the only WR of value would have been Murphy or Williams which I would agree to take Brace as a best out of the three. I see that William Moore was still on the board and with the loss of Roy Williams might have been a good pick but as with my mock to each his own.

Maybe they should go after Pat White to help them run the wildcat:D:D

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Wildcat’s popularity could have Cowboys thinking QB

Jerry Jones, he really kills me sometimes.

EDIT: correction on Meriweather. His score was within the normal target range for his position.

Good points. On Casey, this is Watson's last year of contract I believe. It would be interesting to see if he has as mediocre of a season as 2008 if they klet him go. He has made strides in blocking though. It might also be the last year on Thomas' contract. I think Thomas is in the BB doghouse yet from Indy. According to various media sources (and you know how efficient and reliable they are) Dallas is looking NT.

I think Jackson plays his DE slot and Barwin is the conversion. You are not wrong.

DW,

Very nice effort. It's a huge amount of work to put together something this extensive. You've made a great effort, and have some wonderful ideas. Nice job.

My biggest criticism is the number of "dream" scenarios you have falling to the Pats, which is a bit unrealistic:

- Maualuga falling to 33 - could happen, pretty unlikely that he will fall out of the 1st, despite Lombardi's mock
- Delmas at 34 - quite possible
- Michael Johnson at 47 - a bit unlikely, but not unrealistic
- James Casey at 58 - very plausible, and a nice pick
- Jarron Gilbert at 82 - a dream scenario, and very unlikely
- Eric Wood at 89 - another dream scenario, and just as unlikely

Individually, there are some big drops working in our favor. Collectively, I don't see how these could all possibly happen.

Some other comments:

- Sanchez is rumored to be rising fast and possibly leapfrogging Stafford as the #1 QB. I don't see him lasting till #17. He is a better WCO prospect than Stafford, which is why I had him going #4 to the Seahawks (who are rumored to like him very much) and the Jets trading up for Stafford.
- TB is rumored to be in love with Freeman. They could pass him up at 19, but I think it is more likely that Detroit misses out on him altogether than that they pass on him at #20 and then trade up from #33 to get him at 23.
- Andre Smith at #4 is a big reach right now. I don't agree with DaBruinz that he will fall out of the 1st round - I think #18 to Chicago is his likely floor - but I don't see the Hawks going for them, and they need an LT more than an RT anyway.
- Tyson Jackson at #9 to GB is a bit of a reach. That's probably his absolute ceiling. Could happen, but I kind of doubt it.
- I don't see Peria Jerry being a good fit for Denver in the 3-4. If they miss out on Raji and Jackson, then I see Maualuga being a likely choice.
- 25 seems a bit high for DJ Moore right now, with his poor times at the combine and in his pro day. Could happen, but seems a little aggressive.
- Indy taking Laurinaitis is an interesting choice. With needs at DT and WR and players like Harvin and Nicks on the board, why do you seem them going for Laurinaitis? I understand that Jerry and Hood are gone in your mock.
- Wells dropping to 36 seems unlikely after his good pro day showing. Would be a nice pick up for Cleveland.
- I think William Moore lasting to 70 is unlikely given his pro day. He seems to have stopped his slide and even picked up some of the ground he lost.

Again, nice job.

As a matter of fact, Adalius Thomas scored a 16 on his wonderlic. Ryan Claridge, whom the Pats drafted, rated an 18.

Lots of LBs score low.

I can see a high Wonderlic pointing to a certain degree of intelligence, but it's not an I.Q. test. Who the hell cares how many apples you sell in an hour or how long it takes to take a train from Detroit to Milwaukee?

Shoeless Joe Jackson was illiterate but could play a great baseball game. I'm not excusing stupidity (nor the college football factories that hand out "diplomas"), merely the method of measuring it: I'm sure plenty of college football players would score well on the Wonderlic, but how many of them could play football?

And, oh, solid mock, btw.

Thanks, Any other year and those three top QBs are not as high on the board. 6'2" is tall in real life but the 6'4"-6'5" Manning, Brady, even Cassel type have more interest. If Freeman was 6'2" hwe would be a third or fourth rounder I think. I think it is a little unreasonable to think Stafford goes #1 whereas the Lions had the Harrington ghost in their closet with a few #1 WR picks.

I think regardless of his combine gaff and Pro-Day self-imposed exhibitionist show, there is too much good tape on Andre Smith. If he gets with the right team he is fine. If he fell to #33 I think the Pats have to take him although I think we have other needs.

You are right about Perry but Casey Hampton and new 3-4 Team, the Packers have Colin Cole at 6'1" at NT. They have more girth, that's true but Jerry is supposed to be very disruptive. Tony Brown who is a DT on the Titans is 290. Who knows?

The Colts need more heft in the middle. Brackett is only 5'11" and they say 235, but not really. Hence "The Little Animal".

You could be right on Wells.

I really thing the Pats want Moore. It just worked out this way. If they down want or can't get Delmas, Moore is the pick I believe. They might take him over Delmas. I have a feeling they are considering Sean Jones at SS (in our system there is right or left so call him just S).
Saw your Mock. Close in some areas.

I think that if The Pats do trade of te first round (even if it is to jsut 33) they would try to get next years #1 over a 3rd rounder but thats just what i think would happen
