John Lester ... New 5 Year Deal

No, that's wrong. Zambrano earned the minimum in 2004, and then was under team control the next 3 years. In 2007, the final year of being under team control, he avoided going to a hearing and agreed on $12.4M. .

AGAIN, ZAMBRANO IS NOT A COMP.

Thats not arbitration.

Bedard: $7M in his second.

Again, DID NOT GO THROUGH ARBITRATION.

Don't forget, the $4M that Wang got is the highest a 1st year (eligible) pitcher has ever got.

How is it relevant that they didn't have a hearing? Both players, while under team control in their arbitration years, managed to get those deals.

A player doesn't have to go to an arbitration hearing to get a deal in their arbitration years. Teams and players can settle on a one year deal to avoid a hearing. That's what Zambrano did, that's what Bedard did, and that's what Lester could have done.

Deal was just officially announced, Bay and Sox have agreed to stop talks for awhile because of the bad free agent market situation
